Forgiveness is not a work, but something that we have to do in order for God to forgive us. If God can not forgive us because we can not forgive others do you really think there is a place for us in His kingdom?

The works we do are done in love for others unto the glory of the Lord in that which he has called us to follow in like that of Matthew 25:31-40. If we are not forgiving others then we are not walking in love even towards our enemies that we are to also love and pray for their salvation.

Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

When you say Kingdom of God, you mean the one we're living in right now then? Or are you saying that a Christian who dies holding a grudge will go to Hell even if they have already confessed Christ as their Lord and Savior?

Umm yeah, sorry,.. I didn't really get a word of that to be perfectly honest with you.
No problem. Let's make it simple.

1. Christians have been freed from the penalty for sins through the finished work of Christ and by God's grace.

2. Christians have also been forgiven for all past sins because repentance results in the remission of sins.

3. Christians must be baptized so that they know that they died with Christ and are risen with Him to walk in newness of life. This means they are dead to their old sinful lives (symbolically and in reality).

4. Therefore holding grudges and not forgiving sins is now totally unacceptable to God and Christ.

I think it's more along the lines of, if we are saved then we will be obedient and if obedient then will have the mind of Christ, which would forgive. So if we can't forgive others then we are lacking in our obedience and having the mind of Christ.

I think of it like this, you can't lose your salvation but if you are truly saved you will come around at some point and forgive the people that hurt you.

It takes a lot to forgive someone. It is by no means a simple task but in the end you come out a much greater/stronger person when you let go of bitterness.
