What can we say about hope? It is one of the three things in 1 Corinthians that is said to always be there. But what is it? What started this topic is a thought differing hope from confidance.

Hope is for the lost. Those who don't know how things will turn out, but hope on what might be. Confidence is for the strong who think they know what's going to happen, or think they can make it through it.

If there's any truth from that then my contribution to what we can say about hope is that hope is humble. There's always the chance that the hope is wrong. As scary as that is it does seem to fit the attitudes of those who have hope. You hope for the best but still strive with your best efforts because it might not pan out.

What can you say about hope?

My hope is in Jesus Christ and that He truly is preparing a place for me in Heaven and I had a dream last night that only confirms this belief. :)

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Our hope is in Christ as HeIsRisen2018 has already stated. It's in everything that Jesus has taught us that we believe by faith even if we can not see certain things as of yet, but will all be revealed in God's timing.

When giving to the poor...
The poor are usually poor because they make Poor decisions...and redistributing your wealth to them won't fix their station in life...no matter how much you sacrifice to give what you give...
But we give to them anyway.

Because of hope.

We don't know our or our neighbors future...but we hope that by doing kind but fruitless things that somehow it will work out for good. Like giving that Alcoholic Bum's kid a ride into town...you just know that this kid won't grow up to be more than trailer park trash...but you give him a ride anyway. Because there's always hope.

But who woulda think that this kid would go to the Billy Sunday tent revival and later become known as Billy Graham? Nobody would think such things...but "Hope never fails".

We worship the God of Hope. That by faith in Him, we get a fuller and richer life now (even if persecuted) and then we get to live in paradise forever. And this "Hope" is powerful. We aren't like those without hope. We don't fear what others fear...we don't want some things.
