There are two things that I was studying in my Bible today where I'm not sure what they mean.

1. Women are supposed to submit to and obey their husbands.

2. Men are supposed to love their wives even as Christ loved the church.

Nothing to explain, Believe what they say. They are plain and NO interpretation needed.

Years ago there was a poster that was always my favorite it went like this.

”woman was not taken from Man’s head to be above him.
Nor was she taken from his feet to be walked over.
Woman was taken from Man’s side near his heart to love, cherish and protect her.

back to the subject at hand. The Scripture tells us we don’t know what we should pray for. The Holy Spirit doesn’t say you pray lousy don’t do it any more. The Holy Spirit understands we don’t know what to pray for so the Holy Spirit gets what we don’t know we need Ro. 8:26

I already looked at that but I didn't understand it much. After I post a few things on here I will go search for it in my Message Bible. I understand what other people have been saying though. When times are tough wives should trust their husbands to do what they believe is best for them.
And help them and allow them to mature into being a husband. I had no role models. I was a very immature jerk of a husband. I had no idea what I was getting in to. Young husbands need older Godly men to inquire about marriage matters. Especially when the wife is with child and hormones do their thing to her emotions.

Well thank the Lord that you turned out as well as you did with having such an awful past. :sad

I escaped by TV (like the movie Cable Guy) and by hiding out at the neighbors' houses. Even though I could not fend them off physically, I fought my battles using toy soldiers like Welcome to Marwen(minus the high heels). After watching that movie, it helped explain my life-long fascination with military weaponry/history.

Okay, here's the dilemma. I have a hard time submitting to Jesus (and he is perfect), so it is VERY hard submitting to my earthly husband. I'm just stating facts. It is about trusting the Lord's way of doing things.

p.s. If I can submit to my husband (and I grow up in a feminist household), anyone can do it with the Lord guiding you.

I guess I was sort of lucky. I got quite a bit of good marriage advice from my dad, but no one explained this all to me. I was taught it was a good thing to give a drop of pure love everyday to the wife...and don't sweat the small stuff. So my confused young mind said if a drop a day is good, then what would happen if I sloshed her with a 5 gallon bucketful every day? And I did it and it was a mistake. She had such a young huble spirit back then and I went overboard. I made her out to be more than she was. I gave her too uch money, I gave her too many compliments and held her up above me.

Not only did she think that she was more than me, but that she could do no wrong and it took a long time but she grew out of me and was convinced that she could do better. And I suppose I set her up for failure with her millionaire boyfriend that she started dating after we divorced. And she thought she could talk to him the same way that she talked to me, and he showed her the door. It was too many compliments and they stopped having significant meaning because I overdid it. If I ever get married again I will lovingly give this wife less compliments. So when she does get them, It will actually mean something. They will mean more.

You young guys hear this! and another thing, do not ever fight about money with her! It is only money. Things will work out, they always do. Working and having a good name in your trade is one of the two big aspirtions in life that men have, a good name in their work, and a good name in the family! If you put too much attention either way....the other one suffers.

Back then, I thought, if I work every day and don't cheat, then I am a good husband and did my job! So my day was over after I got home from work, or so I thought. But did she get off work then too? No, her day got harder. She had already been working all day, raising kids, cleaning house...and when I got home, her day got harder for picking up after me when I came in. No! Working is a means to an end! First...I want to be married and have a family. To do that I have to go work and make some money for them...and then after work, the day can then begin with her, not end because I went to work! So working is merely a means to an end. and the money means nothing! It is only money, so...so what?
I wish I knew this then...!

Now I am an engaged woman myself and as much as I love my fiancee I am not just going to let him order me around all the time and what does it mean that he's supposed to love me like Christ loved us? Does that mean he would have to be willing to die on a cross for me? I have little to almost no doubt that he would, but can somebody please explain these things to me? :thinking

There is little evidence Paul intended his letters to become sacred writings.

Leadership role is not a bossy role...and I'd hate to have to boss my wife around.

I wanted an equal in my marriage. And I have one. She is my best friend and my lover.

I lead by example...not by decree. I expect her to follow my example and do for me like I do for her. She intristically should know what is good and what isn't. Because I set the tone of the household with my reactions.

1. It basically means be supportive and assisting the husband where necessary.
2. It basically means love and adore the woman, and be there for them, this is easier to understand, just how Christ intervenes and acts in the lives of the church members. He gave his life for us, he wants us to be with him, and makes us his jewel and most important thing through history.
3. Look at the relationship between, Christ and the church, and then the church with Christ. Deep meditation will answer your question.
