There are plenty of false 'Christs' in our day such as José Luis de Jesús whose followers tattoo 666 to themselves, Maitreya, and Jesus of Siberia who has written another of many false gospels. False prophets such as Joseph Smith and Benny Hinn have lead people astray.

Prophecy picks up faster each day, more so since the rebirth of Israel.

The United States has become a nation of promiscuity and simply puts Christianity on as a guise.

Rumors of War happen now, more and more this past century and during this current NK Missile crisis. We now have possibilities of nuclear wars. (Zechariah 14:12?)

Is it true that fault lines have been found at the mountains that are supposed to split at the feet of the LORD?

Or is this just normal every day findings?

Since Jesus said that no one knows the day or hour, does that mean watching for signs is a redundant thing to do? Why give signs?

Unfortunately your poll choices only offer time ranges (and one choice in a language I'm afraid I don't speak) but we have been told by scripture that no one will know the day or hour, no one will know when it will happen. My answer to how close the end time is would be that it is closer than it ever has been before.

That's "I dunno :confused" in french.

What do you feel about the signs of the end times?

Oh, cool. Then that's my vote in the poll. :-D Thanks.

As far as what I feel about the signs, well, it's something that I feel isn't worth a disproportionate amount of my time to study, so I'm no expert on it. I don't mean that to be belittling of those who have become experts on this by any means or to say it's not worth studying. Just for me, it's not an area I put a higher priority on than I do on many other areas of scripture.

There was a time I was fascinated by the signs of the end times and all the speculation about them, and still am to a point. But a lot of that fascination came from the idea that maybe the rapture was about to happen any day. Since I learned of things such as the historical fact that every generation since Christ was alive has had many who believed they would see the return of Christ in their lifetimes it's lost a lot of that fascination for me. Another thing that's kept me away as I've gotten older is the sheer volume of the false prophets that have come out predicting dates and times for the end that have so obviously been wrong. I've just given the subject much less importance to me personally than I did at one time.

I clicked the Fench "dunno".
Speculating about eschatology seems to be one of the fav pastimes of American christians, but we are told to always be ready.
So stop to speculate. Just be ready all the time, like, right now.

I stop nothing when it comes to eschatology. It's what I think I'm called to do since I approach things much different than most interpreters. I believe we know enough, and certainly not all, about it that we'll be able to watch prophecy passing as it passes. It's also the way God lit me up in the early 70's. It proves the power of His foreknowledge and His desire for His people to know.

Another thing is Jesus first advent was prophesied only by 10% of the prophets. But his second advent was prophesied about 300 times by 80% of the prophets.

Also the book of Revelation is the only book in the bible that has a blessing for them who read it, "both at the beginning and the end of it."

Revelation 1:3 ¶Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Revelation 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

I'm in good company. Praise God!

:lol Alright, fair enough.

I can see how it is important to understand God's actions and to see how His prophecies unfold in our world. But their so much weirdness in how end times are thought of. There are millions of different approaches. A lot of people mix politics into it. Eschatology is more than anything else prone to creating discord and distraction among christians. Prophecies that we aren't certain whether they've been fulfilled or not are at risk of being used for someone's personal or political agenda.
I'd love to see Christ return to end this world during my lifetime, but getting into the prophecies just looks like something too distracting and misleading.

At 66 years I figure about 20 more years :)

The news paper headlines are not a window of God's timing.... I don't pay much mind to such.... I don't remember 1948 I was 2 but I do remember the talk at church and home about 7 years after 1948... How this time, rapture was a must. At 9 getting all the points in the "right" doesn't happen....I knew about "The Great Tribulation " I knew about being washed in the Blood ... which was weird cause we wash blood out ... Then we move on 40 more years and 1988 oops! being an adult I really start doing some searching.... I could not find in scripture, used in the way it had been presented the words "The Great Tribulation" ... Things just didn't add up... and I know God ain't wrong.....

The signs are everywhere and increasing in frequency day by day hour by hour minute by minute. The god of this world is blinding the minds of the general public and is being quite successful at it, he's using the media every step of the way, those catastrophes we watch happen on the 10:00 o'Clock news are still being played out behind the scenes. That nuclear disaster in Japan, has anyone tried to find an update, a "current" update, the earthquake in Haiti, complete with an outbreak of Cholera? How close do i think we are to His second coming?

Very close..

Close, this could not have happened prior to about 1954 (? +/- a couple of years)...

Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Somewhere about that time, it became possible for man to erase all life off of the face of the earth about 50 times over. I grew up under the shadow of the mushroom cloud and well remember the "duck and cover" exercizes in school.

Another point that probably could not have been completed prior to the age of the internet and satellite TV...

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

This technology will make this passage possible...

Rev 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
Rev 11:9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
Rev 11:10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

To be able to spread the news of the Two Witnesses plagues to all on the earth would have not been possible. Now for the news that they are dead and lying in the streets of Jerusalem for 3-1/2 days and to spread this throughout the world in 3-1/2 days would have been virtually impossible 100 years ago and maybe even as little as 50 years ago.

Makes me think time is short.

I believe the time is getting shorter, and I see signs being fulfilled, but there's still some way to go yet. As John 8:32 pointed out, a few decades ago we were not capable of annihilating ourselves, nor would the world have been able to view the 2 witnesses laying there without satellite TV or Internet (or any future means of communication for that matter). These are detailed things. However, when looking toward the end times, we can crudely gauge it by:

1) First of all knowing the events that will transpire in the end times. The more you know, the better, but even knowing just the major ones is a start and then from there one can gauge it. Obviously Revelation and Daniel are the two biggies. Then there's mentions here and there all through the OT prophets, like Isaiah and Zechariah, that also mention such events. Don't forget Yeshua's Matt 24 "outline" and things mentioned in the epistles here and there.
2) Are worldly events positioning themselves to make that possible? Let's start with a major example. The beast and the ten-nation confederacy in the end. Do we see that forming yet? And if not, can events transpire quickly enough to make it a reality soon? If even one thing is not in position yet, then the end is not quite yet. However, this calls for a keen eye to see the details in the news. Sometimes it's there and we just don't see it, either. But then again, if it's not, then we have some waiting to do.

Now...

Here are some major things I watch out for, but not limited to,

a) The nation of Israel and the events in the middle east, and anything otherwise Jewish.
b) Nations in uprisings that will eventually form confederacies (e.g. as mentioned in Daniel)
c) Key people players --- e.g. the pope, the Queen of Britain, any other figurehead arising which may be the beast
d) Things going on in the church as Revelation pointed out
e) Increase in natural disasters in which we are already seeing weird storms and earthquakes, and one can include even odd sightings in the heavens.

etc etc

Sir Isaac Newton, the handsome guy in my avatar, did not have any reason to believe it would come to an end (i.e. Tribulation) before something like 2060. He's my scientist/mathematician/theologian hero and he was heavy into calculation like that, although he cautioned not to make concrete predictions because that's how credibility was lost --- very commonsense. He was just giving ballpark figures and date borders.

First you have to define what is meant by 'end times'. Different definitions warrant different answers.

EXCELLENT point.

Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

We know that two ends will come because the gospel was preached over all the Roman World, which was immediately followed by the total and mandatory end to pagan worship and the mandated singular religion of one thousand years of Universal Christianity over all of that known world.

We also see that the Gospel has now been preached over all the Globe, today, the Jews are returned to Israel, the fig leaf, which is now in bloom.
This seems to make Daniel's prophecy right on schedule:

Dan. 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, (70 AD), and the abomination (of the Dome of the Rock) that maketh desolate (the holiest of the Holy Place, be) set up (in 690 AD), there shall be (1290 years), a thousand two hundred and ninety days, (1290 + 690 = 1980AD, when the Jews, again are in possession of Jerusalem).

Dan. 12:12 Blessed is he, (in 1980 AD), that waiteth (45 more years), and cometh to (the end: i.e.; 1980 + 45 =2025AD), the thousand, three hundred and five and thirty days, (2K25 AD).

I for one believe in what is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:2. i.e. I have no idea, and I am certain that the day I start speculating about current affairs or heads of state vs. Revelation, I will leap to erroneous conclusions. Jesus WILL return. My job is to stay close to Him. I will leave it there.

I think we are close to the final seven years and if we are then we need to strengthen our faith with the promises of God so we will not fear. We need to settle it in our minds and hearts that God will take us through whatever we might have to face. As far as the timing of the final seven years I would pose this question: What event would convince you that we have started the seven years?

I'd say this would be an event, when the Antichrist Sits in the Temple Claiming to be God..
