Good points. Thank you.
No problem, I think I am of the opinion that it was most likely more than the 12 after discussing with you, but still a smaller number than 70. It's of little consequence, but it is always fun to figure these things out. :)

In the mean time, here's a brain teaser for ya'll: How far does an ALL CAPS POST LIKE THIS echo in an online forum? LOL. j/k

Based on the results of a few pings and an estimate of how far I am from the server, I'd say it should take about 800 ms (0.8 seconds) to go all the way around the world.

Lol @ TOG. If I run a traceroute and I find that you hopped through only one router I'm calling your bluff. :-p

Back on the topic, Jesus also addressed a large crowd from a boat one time as well, although we don't know how large. In the movie The Gospel of John (the best gospel adaptation I've ever seen BTW) they fascinatingly portray Jesus' preaching style as dynamic and interactive, walking among the people as he talked. He very well may have used both stationary and itinerant methods of delivering his sermons, whichever was best suited to addressing the crowd at hand in a given situation.

And plus, as I pointed out George Whitefield preached to five (or more) times the number that were present when Jesus multiplied the bread, so it's not at all inconceivable that if he did preach to them that they easily could have heard him from the mountain side.
