Romans 12 v1+2, test and aprove= understand the reasoning.
Phil2 v 12 the working out of salvation is two fold, that of obedience, but also of understanding.
1peter 3:15 being able to give a reason means you have worked out what Christianity is and are not repeating parot fashion.
2 tim 2:23+24 avoiding foolish arguments, you have to understand the issues to recognise these and able to understand if you are able to teach.
titus 3:9 avoid foolish contraversies, again you have to have worked out and understand the truth inorder to be able to recognise these.

Hebrews talks about growing up to the 'meat' of the gospel not drinking milk like newborn. again the implication is of a mental growth and ability to handle complex ideas not repeating something that is not understood.

Yes Jesus says we must be like Children in out trust, but he also said to be wise and the two do go together.
Any Believer who uses the flesh in any capacity enters the work of the flesh and frustrates grace (Galatians 5:19-21; Galatians 2:21). This is why the scripture says, "For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor (Galatians 2:18)." If you do not understand "The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2)," you enter "The Law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).

It is Christ Life that brings the victory - not ours. The Believers Faith must be placed and maintained exclusively in Christ and the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won to receive the help of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:2).

*****Considering both Protestants and Catholics, nearly 2 billion people in the world refer to themselves as "Christian." And yet, Jesus said, "And few there be who find it," speaking of Eternal Life (Matthew 7:14).

*****So, this means that hundreds of millions are in the church but not "in Christ." As well, it speaks of tremendous numbers of others who are truly "in Christ," but will ultimately be removed for lack of fruit bearing. In other words, they forsake the Cross for something else (John 15:2, 5-6).

*****All born again Christians place their Faith in Jesus Christ and the Cross of Calvary for salvation. But few Christians place and maintain their Faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross of Calvary for sanctification. In other words their Faith may be in Christ but not the Cross, i.e., "The Finished Work," i.e., "The Blood of Jesus." The Apostle Paul calls this "another Jesus" (2 Cor. 11:4). Christ must never be separated from the Work of the Cross; to do so is to produce "another Jesus" (2 Cor. 11:4).

*****The Cross of Christ is as necessary for sanctification as it is for salvation (1 Cor. 1:18).

How do I do what the scriptures say do? How do we keep Jesus commands? How do we love the Lord God with all our mind, emotions and soul and that we love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves?

When you love people, by helping them, encouraging them, providing for their needs when they can not, then you are loving God.

For God so loved He gave...

And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:40

The works of the flesh are listed for us, and boil down to sin.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:19-26

Where did I say get drunk, have sex with all and sundry, loose your rag and kill those who cross you?

I have demonstrated that Christianity is not about sitting around thinking holy thoutghts but that it involves using ones mind to understan Christian theology, to work out how one applies this knowlegy to ones life.

How do we love?

When you see someone who is hungry in need of food;
You give them some of your food.

When you see someone who is thirsty in need of some water;
You give them some of your water.

If you see someone cold in need of some clothing;
You give them some of your clothing.

These are the basics.

In addition, we have some instructions, from the scripture concerning the love of God.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

Paul says it this way -

Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:8-10

The Apostle Paul makes it very clear in Romans 8:10 that the physical body, mind / intellect, and the heart (which is evil - Jeremiah 17:9) has been rendered helpless because of the original sin; consequently, the Believer trying to overcome by willpower presents a fruitless task. Only the Holy Spirit can mortify the deeds of the flesh and make us what we ought to be (Romans 8:13). This means we cannot do it ourselves. Once again, He performs all that He does within the confines of the Finished Work of Christ (Romans 8:2).

If a Christian will and their efforts to live for God is in anything except Christ and the Cross, i.e., Finished Work, The Blood of Jesus (Romans 8:2), Satan can override your will and force you to do things you don't want to do and trying not to do (Ephesians 6:12). Jesus said deny yourself and pick up your cross and follow me (Luke 9:23).

Remember our bodies are dead and useless to God. The heart is prone to wander away from God's love and eat from "The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil." The reason why the body is dead is because of the effects of the fall has made us totally incapable of yielding spiritual obedience on a regular basis (Jeremiah 13:23). So there must be a source outside of myself that helps me to enter into sanctification which is the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:13).

2 Timothy 2:24-26

“24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive (pertains to being drawn aside into endless discussions which serve no purpose, and can only conclude in “strife!”); but be gentle unto all men (Fruit of the Spirit [Gal. 5:22]), apt to teach (teach correct Doctrine), patient (show patience to those who do not easily and quickly understand that which is being taught),

25 In meekness instructing those who oppose themselves (refers to those who place themselves in opposition to the true servant of the Lord and to True Doctrine); if God peradventure will give them Repentance to the acknowledging of the Truth (hoping those in error will repent and come to the Truth, and we might quickly say, “The Truth of the Cross”);”

“26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the Devil (if one is placing his Faith and Hope in anything other than Christ and the Cross, he has been “snared by the Devil,” which is serious indeed!), who are taken captive by him at his will. (Unless the Believer makes the Cross the Object of his Faith, which then gives him the help of the Holy Spirit, he is helpless against Satan, who will make him his captive, i.e., “in bondage to sin” [Gal. 5:1].)

All works must be produced and birth by the Holy Spirit or it is dead works. The "Golden Bell and the Pomegranate" must bounce against each other or it is tingling cymbal and sounding brass. The Golden Bell = The Gift of the Spirit, and the Pomegranate = The Fruit of the Spirit (Exodus 28:34). We need both to be in operation.

Faith placed exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work, i.e., The Cross, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, will always produce proper works by the Holy Spirit. This is the only Faith God will recognize. Anything and everything that is not of the Spirit is "dead faith." Lifeless Faith is profitless (rotten fruit). James 2:14-18

Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 these words, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works (proper Faith will always produce proper works, but proper works will never produce proper Faith), and glorify your Father which is in Heaven (proper works will glorify our Heavenly Father, while improper works glorify man).”

The Holy Spirit operates in a Christian by the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2). This Law requires the Christian to place and maintain their Faith exclusively in Christ and the Finished Work at Calvary's Cross where the victory was won (The Blood of Jesus). This Law delivers you into the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, which allows the life of Christ to manifest through you by the power of the Holy Spirit (this includes the gifts of the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit in demonstration of the Spirit and of power). This is how you receive grace and favor from the Lord because you are not frustrating grace, but growing in grace by walking and being led by the Holy Spirit.

The Believer who doesn't understand this or has chosen a different way is operating in the Law of Sin and Death (the works of the flesh - sin has dominion over them).

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working [expressing itself] through love. Galatians 5:6

I don't really know what proper faith is.

There is faith, then there is dead faith.

Do you understand the principle of faith?

The Cross of Christ is as necessary for sanctification as it is for salvation (1 Cor. 1:18).

John 6:53 - "Except you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His Blood (i.e., the Cross, i.e., The Finished Work), you have no life in you," (presents the demand that caused "many of His Disciples to go back, and walk no more with Him" (John 6:66). It does the same presently! This Verse tells us the degree of believing that is required; it refers to the Cross being the total Object of one's belief; failing that, there is no Life in you.)

John 6:66 - From that time many of His Disciples went back, and walk no more with Him.

Sanctifying peace allows the Holy Spirit to deliver the Believer into the death of Christ so Christ life is manifested through the Believer (2 Cor. 4:11, Gal. 2:20-21, Romans 8:2,13, John 14:21). That is the only way they are triumphant in Christ (II Cor. 2:14). And that is the only way He can work in them both to will (change their desires), and to do (give them the power of the Holy Spirit) (Phil. 2:13), so they can overcome sin. This is the only way believers can yield themselves as God’s servants (slaves) of obedience instead of being slaves to sin unto death (Rom. 6:16). Remember: I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me (Who Jesus Is), and gave Himself for me (What Jesus Has Done on the Cross for us where the victory was won). Gal. 2:20

If The Believer doesn't enter into the LORD's rest, they die in the wilderness...only a few enter into His rest!

As I have stated previously: Out of 603,550 men who were readied for war that came out of Egypt under the power of God (Numbers 1:44-46), only two took their inheritance; Joshua (a type of Christ) and Caleb (a type of the body of Christ) (Matthew 7:14). There is only one message that changes the body of Christ into the image of Christ, and that is Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.

Jesus Christ and Him Crucified alone is the only answer for mankind...not human reasoning (1 Cor. 1:17-19 - Matthew 7:14)!

If it is not Faith in Christ and Him Crucified, it is dead misplaced faith - Narrow is the way! (1 Cor. 2:2 - Matthew 7:14)

We must never put aside the Cross of Christ and magnify our on efforts (the flesh).

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 1 Cor. 1:19

James 4:7 says, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

How can a Christian do this?
You submit to God by obeying Him. If you submit to the devil, then you are obeying him. It is that simple.

Each time you sin you get closer to the devil. Each time you repent by not sinning and obeying God, then you are getting closer to God.

The closer we are to the light (God), the further the darkness(devil) will flee from you.

James 4:8 says, "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."

Cleansing our hands is symbolic to becoming spiritually clean. How do we become spiritually clean? We do this by obeying God's commands as given through His only begotten son Jesus.

The Foundation of the Faith, which is "Jesus Christ and Him Crucified" (1 Cor. 1:23). The evidence of true Faith is the fact of the Love which emanates from such Faith. True Faith expresses itself through Love, and is done through the power of the Holy Spirit. If our Faith in Christ does not produce the Love of God within us, that's a sure sign, that whatever Faith we are proclaiming, is not the type of Faith which places one "in Christ."

Faith in the Cross, automatically centers up on the Love of God. For Calvary was the greatest act of love that humanity has ever know and ever will know. So, if the Believer anchors his Faith in the Cross, the outcome cannot be anything but Love as well as Victory. Otherwise, it produces a stern self-righteousness, which is the bane of True Christianity.
