Let's be realistic oligos. So you only came to give not receive. Mmm...I'm finding that hard to swallow. Not even fellowship.
No one is totally selfless. In fact I don't think God wants us to be like that. He wants us to share responsibility. Take turns in supporting each other. What about your sciatica thread the other day? Was the purpose to inform us us your pain? You weren't seeking any empathy or sympathy?

What is I that makes you follow me around wasting your time "PICKING AT ME and FINDING FAULT, when you could be doing something constructive like building up a brother or sister or supporting them in prayer wih kindness and love.

stovebolts has repeatedly warned you about your way of treating people here, and it has no purpose in building up the body of Christ.

God bless you brother as you try to figure out your faith.

I think you are over reacting oligos.
Admittedly I am curious about your claim to have perfect love and the rest of us are so far behind you. Your posts here to Susannah seem to reveal a lack of humility, to be honest.

I don't think you are building up Susannah. And I find your kindness on the skinny side. So if you are the role model, I'm disappointed.

If you have no needs you may as well not be on the forum. To have no needs is inhuman. Like a robot.

If I have no needs brother, why would I ask for prayer for my sons girlfriend with cancer, and prayers for me with sciatica.

You confuse needs with sympathy which are totally separate with separate meanings.

If I have no needs, why would I be a MODERATOR and be here to help watch over the site for the administrators, and meet personal needs of others in sharing my opinions, and praying for people.
I have a need to support, pray, share, help keep the peace and to Moderate my favorite topic on LOVE.

I have lot's of healthy needs like PIZZA, ICE CREAM, my favorite COOKIES, CHINESE FOOD, MEXICAN FOOD, need for my friends, need for my CHILDREN and GRAND CHILDREN. and one GREAT GREAT GRAND SON.
But I don't NEED to be felt sorry for, and I don't need sympathy..
That's an emotional illness that for some reason people see as a normal emotion.
I guess that's why the world s so messed up.

Are we CLEAR here?? I especially love PIZZA with 2 layers of EVERYTHING and 3 crusts!!!

My acts of love are far from perfect as is all of ours, but hopefully we are all on the same path, just in different locations

On another thread they are debating the issue of condemning sinners in the name of love. By this I mean pointing out to people that their sins will cast them into the fires of hell etc. and are an abomination to God.

There are some sins that do not really bother people and others that really upset them. With each person it is different. On this thread we were discussing sexuality. But I must also confess to gluttony.

My thinking was that since Love was the "Most Important" commandment it would trump everything else. But many disagreed with me and said that the loving thing to do was to confront sinners. To shame them for their own good. My mother used to say when she hit me, "This is for your own good."

I tried to suggest a compromise. I offered them a form of communication that could do both. SET

S = Support. I can see you are depressed.
E = Empathy. I was depressed before I found God. I understand you.
T = Truth. What you are doing is a sin. Would you like to talk about it.

This was largely ignored by the sin chasers. As a psychologist, I could analyze this behavior under the heading of building yourself up by looking down on others, but I won't. LOL.

So help me out here. Isn't the most loving thing to do is just leave sinners alone and love them so that they will come to us for help and we can tell them about God. If they do come to God they will find out soon enough they are sinners if they do not already know.

My sin, which was being discussed, was called an abomination. Such name calling hurts and makes me want to run away from other Christians. Unfortunately, the Holy Spirit sent me here and so staying trumps my urge to flee. I look forward to your comments.

My heart goes out to you Susannah! I have read some of ur posts and like that you are included on focusing on the love of God. This is a revelation!
Follow it to the very core! It is the way to freedom!
Shalom my sister. God does not hate sinners. He only hates sin it self.
Shalom!

Amen . . .

1 John 4:8
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 Peter 4:8
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

Colossians 3:14
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; ...

I just want anyone out there who cares about me to know that if you need any help with your recovery with addiction I'm available at susanpeabody@gmail.com. Everyday is a new day and God can change his mind, but for now I'm giving up on this board but not Christ. He has revealed himself to me. He is offered me the love I have craved all my life. I have been blessed by his presence in my life. He is giving me a calling to help others. He is giving meaning to my life. He saved my life. He has forgiven my sins. He is all that I could ask for. But I think when it comes to fellowship I'm going to turn to AA, as I get more acceptance there. Keep me in your prayers

My name is Susanna.❤

PS. I know I have said this before. I don't need reminding. I live in the moment and the future is in God's hands. Just let me go in peace.

I'd advise you to rethink your response on this. We are already of the mind that same sex sex is a sin. However, that doesn't change the fact that we experience attraction to the same sex. SSA (same sex attraction) doesn't just go away because you want it to. Our mere existence is not the abomination.
Normally I wouldn't bother to respond, but you are messing with someone who is already having a hard time.
As the "name" of name calling is "abomination", that word is straight out of the bible.
Same sex attraction can be abstained from just as opposite attraction can be.
It is called temptation, and is to be resisted.
But you don't see groups demanding "normalization" for adulterers and fornicators.
The "mere existence" is just another work of the flesh that can be crucified with Christ.
Just like lying, stealing, and coveting, etc., they can all be put aside instead of making others think one is under such persecution for one's personal sins.

It just seems like some keep putting their "temptations" up for public display.

Oligos. I am 71 and have been in counseling since I was 19. Psychodynamics helped a lot. But mostly what helped was the love and acceptance that I got from my counselors. I'm not getting that here so it has triggered my PTSD. But even you are losing sympathy for my situation so I think my decision to go back to Alcoholics Anonymous is best. Everybody there is a misfit. We are all sinners in Alcoholics Anonymous. They understand the shame. This is where I found God and loving acceptance. I'm not getting it here. So there's nothing wrong with me. Something is wrong with this forum. I tell you this with all honesty. There are people on this forum that need to take a good hard look at themselves when it comes to the Commandment to love your neighbor. Take care everyone. ❤
Didn't anyone at AA tell you that you didn't need to be a sinner anymore?

But we're not asking for normalisation. Only understanding from other Christians that this is something we deal with, that others deal with, that is highly misunderstood and mischaracterised by other Christians, and that we need support and community to deal with. As it is right now, most churches are not a safe space for same sex attracted Christians. There is support and help available online, but we should be able to expect it from our local churches without fear of being removed from ministries or ostracization.

Hopeful: Now you want to trash AA. There's no end to your insults. You really are self-righteous. Christ made it very clear that he who is without sin should cast first stone. So I'm assuming that you are sinless. Good for you. The rest of us are struggling. How do you sleep at night. How do you dare to say you follow the most important commandment to love your neighbor. Look around. Your neighbor is a sinner. Everyone is the sinner. Look in the mirror. Take that log out of your eye. God is not happy with you right now

then you don't like the Bible i and others was in that discussion. if a person is not committing the abomination then it should not bother anyone.. we love the sinner just like a parent loves a child who has gone astray .the prodigal son father was happy he returned home and had come to his senses . was the father happy his son went to a far land? no but yet he loved him. if you use scriptures out of love and not of hate. then it falls to them

I do think the best thing for you right now is to take a break from the forum. Not everyone is going to be understanding. I have to pick and choose how and when I put myself out there. They think they're doing the Lord's work by telling people they are sinning, I guess. But they fail to listen and have compassion.

It is very tiresome arguing with people who don't know what they're talking about. Being attracted to someone of the same gender is like having a taste for ice cream. If you're diabetic you don't eat the ice cream. If you're a Christian and you don't act on the attraction. But the physiological attraction it's not a sin. Jesus makes it very simple for us. He prioritizes his Commandments. He says this is the most important commandment. It is more important than pointing out other people's sins. Is more important than stoning people. It is more important than bullying people. It is the Commandment to love your neighbor. Until you guys understand this and practice it I feel I know more than you do about what Jesus wanted. I do intend to take leave of this forum after this thread is finished. So if you're anxious to have me gone stop insulting me.

Go in peace
Go in kindness
Go in love
Go in faith
Leave the day
The day behind us
Day is done
Go in grace
Let us go
Into the dark
Not afraid
Not alone
Let us hope
By some good pleasure
Safely to
Arrive at home

Sam Baker

Luke 7:50 And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
