I think people (girls especially) are getting pierced younger nowdays, but overall there's less expectation that one would get their ears pierced.

Hi Nick: I'm a great believer in people doing their own thing; rather than pressure to pierce ears or pressure not to, people need to do their own thing, right?

Blessings.

Indeed.

@Nick : I guess this is also why I'm pretty comfortable with the idea of young men wanting and getting earrings put in if they want them, because it kind of shows an adult sense of choice and taking personal responsibility.

(Two cents'.)

Blessings.

PS:

@Deborah13 :

Does this seem reasonable to you also? (You mentioned your son a while ago.) Blessings.

I don't know what to say that I haven't said before. :)
@Deborah13 : Well, okay! Kind of expanding on the discussion just a bit, for instance for women it's acknowledged quite widely that the second pierced hole (for a little diamond or gold stud, etc.) is a classy thing to do.

And so a young man in the same family where women have gotten doubles might think it goes against natural justice if he can't even get one put in, in one ear, if he wants it.

(It's all kind of inter-connected, really, if this makes sense, anyway.)

Blessings.

If I see my old navy reservist coworker that retired at the same rank Im at. I will ask him for the navy reg. using ehow may be off. the other services do have dress uniforms and formal dinners. I don't see why the airforce nor army don't have the same regs.

I guess it might conceivably change a little from time to time, or vary between the services. But it seems kind of basically standard and even sensible.

no, the size of the earring is the same. that I know. I remember that. I can if I feel the desire ask the female ncos under me or anyone that I would know that has knowledge. with female uniforms and appearance is something that im not the strongest at. ask me the "old army" and it ways and I can rattle that out.but I come from the old army when there wasn't as much women-interaction(co ed) in jobs as it is today.

I saw some wolf earrings at a store up here. Almost bought them, but I don't have pierced ears yet and it's not a certainty I ever will.

Think you'll buy them, or similar ones?

Might help you in your decision to get them pierced, if you want to head in that direction, that is; you must know, anyway.

Blessings.

Perhaps eventually. I'm not going to fly up to Lake Placid just to get them, but I could probably find them or something like them online.
I saw some Hershey's kisses shaped earrings today. Just about tickled me to death, it seemed like such a cute idea. I bought them--but for someone else who I know will like and use them.

Well there's a lot of choice around in ear ironmongery anyway... Sounds like you're still thinking about doing it.

Blessings.

I don't have any.
I tried it once when I was in the Army (it was about the only thing one could get away with as rebellious), but I was very uncomfortable after a couple of days so I gave up the idea.
Back in those days it made me feel like a pirate or something (how funny we can be when we are young).

allenwynne: I think even today women in the US military are limited to the classic single stud in the center of the lobe, albeit - in the Navy - with a 'hierarchy' of silver, gold or pearl studs dependant on the wearer's rank and the level of formality of the occasion.

PS: I'm not sure about the Canadian military regulations about pierced ears and earrings, though. (Do you happen to know, FloatingAxeHead?)

Ms Reena: Yes, it's nice.

You're in India, right? Here in the West it has become very widespread also for women to obtain at least two pairs of holes in their earlobes, and not only the conservative one hole each side.

Blessings.

Yes :) . However for decent look my Mom only permissed ' one' in each....More than one is a ' hypie / gypsy ' look for families. So I was decent enough to obey them :) !!
