Hello, all. I believe that the earth is young, although my reasons for believing, to be completely honest, are not as solid as I would like them to be. I have to confess that I don't know all that much about the topic.
My wife's grandfather (a former pastor) had given me a book a few years ago called Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation. I apologize because the author's name has long since slipped my mind. I do, however, remember reading a few things in that book that stuck out to me and really made sense.
1.) The behemoth referred to in Job Chapter 40 fit the description of a brontosaurus or similar dinosaur (large belly, long neck, swings his tail as a cedar, etc.)
2.)Assuming the moon has always collected dust at the rate we now know it does - when Neil and Buzz landed on the moon, there should have been a great deal more than there was on the moon's surface. Working backwards at that steady rate, it would only take approximately 6000-8000 years to accumulate the amount of dust they found.
3.)Knowing that galaxies are moving away from each other at a steady pace, if we look at galaxy clusters and work backwards at that pace, we arrive at 8,000 to 10,000 years ago that they would have occupied the same space.
Apologies for not being able to give more specifics in my examples, but it's been quite awhile since I read the book, and unfortunately I loaned it to a friend who promptly moved away without returning it before changing their number.
And to be completely honest, the idea that the universe and the earth are billions of years old has always felt...just...wrong to me, even before I knew anything about Genesis.
So as you can see, I need ground to stand on which is much more solid than what I currently have. Where should I be looking to learn more about the evidence that supports a Young Earth? I would prefer to stay away from the internet if possible, because we all know,
"They can't put anything on the internet that isn't true."
