When I was young, my father explained baptism to me. He said, “When someone is being baptized, they are fully submerged in water. That means they have ‘died’ with the Lord Jesus. After being pulled from the water, they are reborn, and they have completely broken away from the sins of the past, starting to have a new life. They will live for the Lord Jesus until they die. The Lord Jesus said, ‘He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned’ (MARK 16:16). The Lord Jesus was crucified for mankind as a sin offering. Only after we are baptized can our sins be forgiven by the Lord Jesus and are we under the name of the Lord Jesus with a new life. So, Christians must get baptized.” From then on, I believed that through baptism, Christians can be completely changed, reborn, saved, and be compatible with Christ.

However, I found that the people around me were baptized when they were young, but what was strange to me was that they had not cast off their old life and they still lived like unbelievers. Like my father, he was baptized in a Catholic church when he was still a baby, and he was baptized again when he converted to Christianity, but he still couldn’t get rid of the bondage of sin. For example: When my little brother forgot to place his things in the right place, he would scold him; if anyone in the family did things he didn’t like, he would lose his temper. Although he often fasted and prayed until late at night for family harmony, he couldn’t control his anger. He didn’t act like a person who was reborn. Looking at those people who still lived in sin after baptism, I thought, “I should only get baptized when I’ll sin less.”

Many years passed, but I still often sinned. In real life, I couldn’t adhere to the Lord’s words. I only picked at others but I didn’t reflect on my actions and see that the biggest problem actually lay within myself. When my father raged at me, I would have hatred toward him and start to argue with him, showing no patience or forbearance. I also often competed with others, wanting to be the best. I would even look down upon those inferior to me, and when I saw people that were better than me, I would get jealous. Furthermore, I liked to show myself off, I wanted others to think highly of me, and I would become very proud when others praised me. I remembered watching a Christian movie during a meeting. The pastor in the movie often brought up the verse, “And whoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted” (MATT 23:12). I kept this verse firmly in mind, because I wanted to practice according to the Lord’s words, learn to be humble and not show myself off or be proud. However, in real life, I still wanted to be the best among skateboard players, so I trained for 8 hours a day, trying to become the best as soon as possible, and be looked upon by others; during a church camp, I performed on stage not for glorifying God but for fame. Although I knew my behaviors were at odds with God’s will, and I tried fasting and praying, I still sinned uncontrollably.

Afterward, I saw these verses in a Christian movie, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (HEB 12:14). “For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins” (HEB 10:26). “Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever” (JOHN 8:34–35). Pondering these verses, I came to know that God is holy and that those who live in sin cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven. I reflected on my actions and realized that I couldn’t get along with others. For instance, I would argue with my relatives over trifling matters; when others hurt me, I would have hatred toward them, and although outwardly I forgave them after praying to the Lord Jesus, in my heart, I still hated them. I also thought of how my father had been baptized twice, believed in God for many years, organized many meetings, and preached the gospel, but he could still rage over trifling matters. He even sincerely told us that he knew he shouldn’t rage and also wanted to turn over a new leaf, but he just couldn’t control his temper. Actually, my father and I knew the Lord’s requirements, but we just couldn’t help sinning. Thinking of this, I was at a loss. I thought, “God is holy, and so filthy and corrupt people are unfit to see God. Although we have been baptized, if we still often sin and can’t put God’s words into practice, can we see the Lord? Nevertheless, doesn’t the Bible say, ‘He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned’ (MARK 16:16)? So why do we still sin after being baptized and not gain new life?” I couldn’t find the answers to these questions.

By chance, I got to know some brothers and sisters in the Lord on the internet. They had unique insights into the Bible and also helped me solve my confusions. They also recommended me some gospel websites. Once, I saw a passage of words in a gospel movie, “A sinner such as you, who has just been redeemed, and has not been changed, or been perfected by God, can you be after God’s heart? For you, you who are still of your old self, it is true that you were saved by Jesus, and that you are not counted as a sinner because of the salvation of God, but this does not prove that you are not sinful, and are not impure. How can you be saintly if you have not been changed? Within, you are beset by impurity, selfish and mean, yet you still wish to descend with Jesus—you should be so lucky! You have missed a step in your belief in God: You have merely been redeemed, but have not been changed. For you to be after God’s heart, God must personally do the work of changing and cleansing you; if you are only redeemed, you will be incapable of attaining sanctity. In this way you will be unqualified to share in the good blessings of God, for you have missed out a step in God’s work of managing man, which is the key step of changing and perfecting. And so you, a sinner who has just been redeemed, are incapable of directly inheriting God’s inheritance.

After reading these words, I felt enlightened. I came to know that our being reborn through baptism only means that we were redeemed. As long as we prayed to the Lord to confess and repent, we would gain grace and blessings from the Lord, our sins would be forgiven by Him, and we would no longer be convicted by laws; this is only being saved. However, we are still filthy and corrupt. Even if outwardly we strive to restrain ourselves, fast and pray, and we don’t commit serious sins through our behaviors, our sinful nature is still deeply rooted in us. That’s why we still live in a state of sinning and confessing. Aren’t all of us like this? As for myself, when someone said things that harmed my interests, I would get angry, and sometimes even though I didn’t lose my temper on the outside, I still had grievance against them in my heart; when I was together with my family or classmates, I always wanted all of them to listen to me and think highly of me; although I tried hard to put myself aside and be humble, in my heart I still thought I was better and I even looked down on those inferior to me. I knew I was committing sins, and I also often came before the Lord to pray and repent, but afterward I didn’t change. My father and other brothers and sisters were all like this as well. We lived in a vicious cycle of sinning in the day and confessing at night. Living a life like this showed that I was not truly reborn and saved, nor did I gain a new life. I once thought that I would be reborn and saved through baptism. Only now did I understand that only after our rebellion and resistance toward God have been eliminated, can we truly gain new life and be truly reborn.

Later, I recalled some verses I studied during a Bible study session, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth” (JOHN 16:12–13). He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (REV 2:29). “And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (JOHN 12:47–48). Pondering these verses, I felt that the Lord would come in the last days to speak His words, and tell us the truths we have never heard before, judging and cleansing us. 1 PET 4:17 says, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God.” This shows that the Lord will return to do the work of judgment and cleansing. Through this work, we can get rid of our corrupt dispositions, gain new life, and be truly reborn.

Thinking of this, I was overjoyed. Thank the Lord for His enlightenment! It turns out that if we want to gain new life and be truly reborn, we need the Lord to do the work of judgment. Only then can we get rid of our sinful nature, become newly-created mankind, and be brought into the kingdom of heaven.

Baptism a few types
Baptism of repentance: Is for Nation of Israel only; under the Gospel of the Kingdom message:
Baptism of repentance was John the Baptist ministry for the Nation of Israel only. A call of Repentance from breaking covenant with the LORD Jeremiah 31:32. Water baptism here is a Jewish purification/cleasning doctrine preparing themselves for the soon coming prophesied & promised Messiah. Thru whom remission/pardon of sin would be provided.

John the Baptist proclaimed:
Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptise you with the Holy Spirit:
(NOTE: John Baptised with water. The coming Messiah will Baptise with the Holy Spirit)

Matt 3:11 & Luke 3:16: The baptism into Christ's body via the Holy Spirit. Is a covenant of spiritual circumcision. Done by Christ & ONLY Christ. And done ""Spiritually"" without hands & without water.

Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision "made without hands", in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
(NOTE: A circumcision "made without hands")

Deut 30:6 (A) The LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart

NOTE: Translators Capitalized Spirit in the beginning & end of the 1 Cor 12:13 signifying deity.

1 Cor 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
(NOTE: Baptised BY one "SPIRIT" = Holy Spirit. Into one body = The Body of Christ. And no water is used)

Rom 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter
(NOTE: Believers are indewlt by Christ with/by the Holy Spirit. A SPIRITUAL circumcision. Done without hands & without water)

Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism
(NOTE: SPIRITUAL baptism & no water is used here)

The moment you accept/trust place your faith in Christ's finished redemptive sin atoning sacrifiial work. Found in the death (sins wage paid in full) & resurrection (God's receipt, payment received & accepted) of Jesus the Christ. You are ETERNALLY SEALED vis the Holy Spirit.

Eph 1:3 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed ""ye were sealed with that holy Spirit''" of promise
(NOTE: The gospel of your salvation is: You heard & believed/trusted. In the Redemptive Sin Atoning Sacrifice. Found in the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus the Christ. And were immediately Eternally Sealed with God's Holy Spirit)

14 Which is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession
(NOTE: God's Holy Spirit dwelling within us, is God's sealed down payment on our redemption. And soon Christ will redeem what he purchased on the cross)

Ephesians 4:30 Grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
(NOTE: Believers are SEALED with/by God's Holy Spirit. It's a guard & a pomise that soon Christ will come for us)

Emblem definition: 1. a symbolic representation of a particular quality or concept. 2. a distinctive badge of a nation, organization, or family

When you publicly undertake the Emblem/symbolic representation of water baptism. Where you die to self, are emmersed (buried emblem) & rise up (resurrection emblem).

New Testament Baptism in water:
Water baptism is an emblem of the true spiritual circumcision/baptism. Water baptism is an outwardly public profession of dying to sin, being buried (when we go under) and of being raised together with Christ in new spiritual resurrection life.

John 12:24 Verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground & die, "it abideth alone" "but if it die" "it bringeth forth much fruit"
(NOTE: One must die to self in order to bring forth good Godly friut. Faith & faith alone in Christ's sin redemptive payment is the only requirement for salvation)

Rom 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

The baptism of Fire:
Fire is a symbol of judgment. See Isaiah 5:24, Isaiah 66:24. John the Baptist spoke of this: Its for unbelievers at the final judgment. Like the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, ONLY Christ the final judge can can baptize with an everlasting judgment.

Other baptisms WITHOUT WATER mentioned in scripture:

Mark 10:38 Jesus said can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
(NOTE: Here Jesus is speaking of His baptism into death. No water is used)

1 Cor 10:2 when the Nation passes through the cloud & red sea and were ""baptised into Moses""
(NOTE: 1st, Through the cloud & red sea. The Nation crossed on DRY land. 2nd Baptised into Moses & No water was used)

Acts 1:5 Jesus said; John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
(NOTE: This baptism comes to pass on the Temple Mt at the 1st post resurrection Pentecost & No water is used)

I'm not going to get into the baptism part, but straight to the part why do Christian sin.

Even though we are Spiritually born again from above it is our spirit that is renewed as God said, in Ezekiel 36:26 "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

We continue to sin because we are housed in this fleshly body that is still corrupt as it is the flesh that sins for that is its nature and we are not yet made incorruptible or immortal, 1 Corinthians 15:51-57. But, we have a new Spirit that needs to be overriding this flesh as we are to be led and walk in the Spirit of God within us as we walk in obedience to His commands and statures. Flesh will always battle against the Spirit and will win sometimes, but will never win the war.

We're not perfect and God knows we are not and this is why Jesus now sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us as Satan stands accusing us when we do sin. Grace does not give us a license to sin, but forgives us when we do mess up at times.

Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Only after we are baptized can our sins be forgiven by the Lord Jesus and are we under the name of the Lord Jesus with a new life.

We are forgiven of our sins when we repent, and are born again, being regenerated by the Spirit.

Hello JLB,
Your Quote: "There is one Gospel; The Gospel of Jesus Christ."

My post makes no claim otherwise

Your Quote: : "Water baptism is for all whether Jew or Gentile."

Today this is a true statement.

However, before Christ's payment & resurrection (John the Baptist in the wilderness) their were Jews & everyone else, the nations = Gentiles.

Ephesians 2:
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

(NOTE: The partition Paul is refering to is the dividing wall in the temple in Jerusalem. The wall separated the court of the Gentiles from the rest of the temple. It excluded the Gentiles from innering sanctuaries)

While Jesus is alive, his ministry was to Jews only:

Matt 15:24 Messiah answered & said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
(NOTE: Jesus say's; He has been sent, ONLY, to the lost sheep of the "House of Israel")

Rom 15:8 I say that Messiah was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
(NOTE: Jeses was sent to preach to the circumcision (Jews) & to fulfil promises made to the circumcision's fathers, NOT GENTILES)

Matt 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
(NOTE: Jesus tells the 12 Don't go to GENTILES or Samaritans. Samaritans were Jews that had intermarried. And were seen as unclean by other Jews. Samaritans accepted only the 1st 5 books of the Bible (Torah). They even had thier own temple on Mt Gerazim. (Jn 4:20) )

6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
(NOTE: Jesus sends his disciples to, the lost sheep of the "House of Israel" only)

The Jews could have excepted their Messiah & the coming Kingdom age would have began. They rejected & had their Messiah killed.

It's not until after sins payment & Jesus resurrection. And 7 years after Pentecost (Salvation is 1st to the Jew, then to the Gentile Rom 1:16, 2:9 & 10) That the RISEN Jesus sends Peter to Cornelius house (Acts10:21-48) then chooses Paul & sends him to be minister & apostle the gentiles (Acts 26:17)

Acts 26:17 Jesus says to Paul; I Delivered thee from the Jews, & "Gentiles, to whom now I send thee" The Heavenly Risen Lord Himself, appoints Paul Apostle & sends him to the Gentiles

We are forgiven of our sins when we repent, and are born again, being regenerated by the Spirit.
Baptism with water comes afterward.

Hello JLB,
Repentance DOESN'T remove sin, being water baptized DOESN'T remove sin, law keeping DOESN'T remove sin, obedience DOESN'T remove sin.

Matt 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
(NOTE: Its by/thru our FAITH placed in Christs faithful & finished sin redemptive work. That our sins arfe remissed/PARDONED)

Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Eph 2:8 By grace" are ye saved through faith not of yourselves it is the gift of God
(NOTE: We access Gods gift of grace, thru faith in Christs sin redemptive work)

Rom 5:
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
(NOTE: KJV Dictionary Definition: justified = In theology, remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; or an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of the atonement of Christ. An ABSOLUTION from GUILT & PUNISHMENT. Believers are JUSTIFIED = Judicially Declared RIGHTEOUS by God. Thru/By, Belief/Faith, placed in Jesus FINISHED sacrificial sin atoning redemptive work. We become justified, sinless, in Gods eyes, the "MOMENT" we believe in Christ's sin payment & resurrection.

God forgives & sees us, as perfect, because of "Christ's faithful sinless redemptive work" done on our behalf. Our faith placed in Christ’s finished redemptive work & resurrection that washed/removed ALL of our sin Rev 1:5.

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
(NOTE: We access Gods gift of grace, thru faith in Christs sin redemptive work)

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
(NOTE: As Peter was speaking! These gentiles REPENTED FROM NOTHING, had not been water baptised, they had brought no temple sacrifice, hadn't obeyed any Mosaic laws etc. By/thru Faith & Faith alone they were FOREVER SEALED with/by God's Holy Spirit. A Spiritual baptism/circumcision, done without hands: Col 2:11 & done by Christ & Christ alone Matt 3:11)

King James Bible
Rom 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
(NOTE: It's not thru our greatness of obedience that we repent/change our thinking outlook. It's the indwelling Holy Spirit that leads us to repent/change our thinking outlook).

I know He came to His own (Jews), and was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

However

Do you realize Abraham was a Gentile?

I’m glad you agree that water baptism is for both Jew and Gentile.

Amen.

Hello JLB,
Repentance DOESN'T remove sin, being water baptized DOESN'T remove sin, law keeping DOESN'T remove sin, obedience DOESN'T remove sin.

Matt 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Only by obedience to the Gospel command repent, is the blood of Jesus appropriated to cleanse us from sin.

This is how faith functions; by obedience.

Without obedience faith is dead; dormant, lifeless, inactive and incomplete, being unable to function to produce the intended divine result.

This is why Paul calls it the “obedience of faith”.

But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: Romans 16:26 KJV

ONLY those who obey the Gospel will be saved.

JLB

Respectfully I disagree.

Peter recounting the incident at the house of Cornelius.

“If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”
“When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.” Acts 11:17-18

And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, Hebrews 5:9

My post made no reference to Abraham. If water baptism is, as stated, a necessary requirement for salvation. Would you be kind enough to provide the scripture where Abraham was water baptized or repented of anything?

Gen 15:6, Gal 3:6, James 2:23 & Rom 4:3. ALL teach: Abraham believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
(NOTE: No mention of water baptism, repentance, law keeping etc. Thru Faith & Faith Alone, God judicially declared Abraham righteous)

Hebrews gets more specific about what exactly Abraham believed

Heb 11:19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead;
(NOTE Abraham believed God could raise Issac from the grave.)

After the declaration of righteous, Abraham had to enter into the covenant of circumcision (today's believers aren't required to under-go circumcision). The promised seed had to pass through the covenant. 430 years after the circumcision covenant God calls out a people ONE NATION-Israel. Gives them, what we call the Mosaic Laws & a sacrificial system. The purpose of these laws were to expose & teach about sin, it's consequence & remedy.

Repentance DOESN'T remove sin, being water baptized DOESN'T remove sin, law keeping DOESN'T remove sin, obedience DOESN'T remove sin.

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

Rom 5:19 (B) so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
(NOTE: By the OBEDIENCE """OF""" CHRIST many be made righteous)

Written to gentiles
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
(NOTE: Jesus say's, we are sanctified by faith that is IN ME).

Rom 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by "faith of Jesus Christ" unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
(NOTE: The Faith "OF" Christ)

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the "faith of Christ" and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
(NOTE: It's the Faith "OF" Christ and thru the righteousness of Christ's faith. Christ becomes the Lord our righteousness (Jer 23:6 & 33:16). And God justifies us "Declares us Righteous in His sight)

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
(NOTE: We live by the faith "OF" the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me

Gal 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
(NOTE: The promise by the faith "OF" Jesus Christ It's our Faith placed in Christ's work)

Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
(NOTE: From Faith to Faith)

Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
(NOTE: The just live by """HIS""" faith!)

It's not how repentant, obedient, great & wonderful we are. It's about how obedient, great, wonderful & faithful Christ was/is!

Can you explain how we “place our faith” in Christ’s finished work? JLB

Understand that there is a God creator. Understand & admit before God we have sinned against his rule. Understand & Believe God sent his Son to atone for sin.

Understand Christ died for your sins (paying sins required wage-DEATH), was buried (proof he died) & was resurrected (God's receipt, payment received & accepted)

Rom 10:

9 If you will confess with thy mouth that Jesus is Lord, & and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved
(NOTE: Confess with your mouth Christ is Lord & Believe God raised him from the dead)

10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; & with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(NOTE: God imputes/credits our faith/belief/trust in Jesus, with a judicial declaration of righteousness. Salvation comes upon your heart felt belief & confession, that Jesus, who was raised from the dead. Is your Lord & savior)

Eph 1:3 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed ""ye were sealed with that holy Spirit''" of promise
(NOTE: The Gospel of your salvation is: After your heard the word of truth & BELIEVED that a sinless Christ's DIED (sins required wage PAID) was BURIED (proof Christ DIED) & RESURRECTION (God's receipt, PAYMENT received & ACCEPTED). You were/are SEALED "PAST TENSE" with the Holy Spirit)

You have to put the full context of who Peter was speaking to as being both Jew and Gentile that day.

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

The fullness of the Gentiles makes up all of Israel that will be saved. As Ephraim mixed himself up with other nations that was a foreshadowing of the Gentiles being grafted into Israel meaning all of Israel will be saved that have faith in God as being part of the covenant God made with Abraham, Genesis 12:1-3; 48:17-19; Hosea 7:8. Jesus told the Apostles to proclaim the Gospel first in Jerusalem, then Judea, then Samaria and then to the ends of the world, Acts 1:8; 8:14-17, Samaria is the fulfillment of the restoration of Israel as both Jew and Gentiles both dwelt there.

My post made no reference to Abraham. If water baptism is, as stated, a necessary requirement for salvation. Would you be kind enough to provide the scripture where Abraham was water baptized or repented of anything?

I never stated water baptism was necessary for baptism.

I will be glad to give scripture about Abraham.

And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” Galatians 3:8

This incident is found in Genesis 12 and foreshadows the process of salvation through the obedience of faith.

because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws. Genesis 26:5

Repentance to life.

That’s how the Gentiles were saved.

As the scriptures state:

When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.
Acts 11:18

I've highlighted your very first paragraph:

Repentance DOESN'T remove sin, being water baptized DOESN'T remove sin, law keeping DOESN'T remove sin, obedience DOESN'T remove sin.

Repentance DOES remove sin...
We are asked to repent to enter into the Kingdom of God.

Obedience does not remove sin of course, but it surely keeps us from new sins.

If none of this removes sin,,,what does??

By Cedric, Canada

You're only supposed to be baptized one time.
Baptism is either real or it's not....If it's real,,,one time is sufficient.

As for sinning.....
When we get baptized we receive the spirit of God...
that could mean different things to different persons.

The problem is that we still retain our sin nature. It would be nice if it were taken away...but then we'd be in heaven and instead we're still here on earth.

When we get baptized our free will is not taken away...
we still have the free will to make moral choices.

And so, sometimes, we choose to sin.

Hello wondering,

I'll answer your,, WHAT DOES, question at the end

It's unfortunate, that people invariably, tie the word REPENTANCE to sin.

There are many OT verses where a SINLESS God repents. Gen 6:6-7, Deut 32:36, Jud 2:18, 1 Sam 15:11 & 29 to name a few.

Vine's Expository Dictionary of NT Words: Repent, Repentance
(Strong's #3340 — Verb — metanoeo — met-an-o-eh'-o )
lit., "to perceive afterwards" (meta, "after," implying "change," noeo, "to perceive;" nous, "the mind, the seat of moral reflection"), in contrast to pronoeo, "to perceive beforehand," hence signifies "to change one's mind or purpose"

Strong's Concordance #3340 - Repentance - Verb metanoeó: Definition: to change one's mind or purpose
Usage: I repent, change my mind, change the inner man (particularly with reference to acceptance of the will of God), repent.

Strong's Concordance #3341 - Repentance - Noun, Feminine metanoia: Definition: change of mind, repentance
Usage: repentance, a change of mind, change in the inner man.

Acts 10: 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them which heard the word.
(NOTE: They Believed (vs43) & as Petr spoke (vs44) The Holy Spitit fell on then. No repentance, no water baptism, no circumcision, they brought no sin sacrifice to the Temple, no law Mosaic keeping etc)

Thru Faith & faith alone these gentiles received the baptism of/were eternally SEALED by God's Holy Spirit (vs45)

Acts 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath "God also to the Gentiles granted repentance" unto life.
(NOTE: Repentance isn't a requirement for salvation. Repentance is a result of one's faith. God GRANTS/GIVES/LEADS us, via His indwelling Holy Spirit the ability to repent & to turn from ungodly/dead works. It's this God granted/given repentance, that leads to Godly works. A result/fruit that proceeds from of one's faith)

Rom 1:5 Through him we received grace & apostleship "to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith" for his name’s sake.
(NOTE: Gentiles are called to FAITH, which leads to obedience)

Rom 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
(NOTE: It's not thru our greatness of obedience that we repent/change our thinking outlook. It's the indwelling Holy Spirit that leads us to repent/change our thinking outlook).

Rom 16:26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the "Gentiles might come to the obedience "that comes from faith"
(NOTE: It's thru FAITH that gentiles are brought to obedience/repentance/godly living)

Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, """repentance toward God""" & """faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ"""
(NOTE: The grammar article TOWARD. For the Jew that had/knew God & left/broke covenant Jer 31:32. He was to change his mind/course & return to serving God. To the gentile that never had a covenant with God. He was to acknowledge that God is. That he had sinned against his creator & is in need of a savior. 2ndly, Faith TOWARD our Lord Jesus Christ. Notably his sin redemptive work. Found in Christ's death (sins required wage, PAID) burial (proof he died) & resurrection (Gods receipt, sins payment received & accepted)

What removes/remissies/pardons sin? Faith in the sinless sacrificed BLOOD of Jesus the Christ

Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Rom 3:25 God sent Christ to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
(NOTE: Propitiation = to make reconciliation via atoning sacrifice)

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Matt 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
(NOTE: KJV Dictionary Definition: remission = Forgiveness; pardon; that is, the giving up of the punishment due to a crime; as the remission of sins.)
