Well...since you called it...create it.
i was thinking about this with the transgender mentioning in another thread. I did some reading the nations are isreal were dabbling with a type of worship of gods who nature were not fully masculine or feminine. I begin to think that God revealed him self as male for that reason to separate Himself from that whackyness. so that men would be men and women , women.

Well...since you called it...create it.

We use the masculine gender when referring to God because of the rules of Grammar.
But God is not male or female.
Father in heaven is also used because of the ways God watches over us....it's not as in direct contact as a mother has of Children.

The female gender is used with a variety of pagan gods.
Grouping God inadvertently with the pagan gods as if God is just another religion... well it's a bit insulting for something that we hold most dear.

That being said.
God is a person. God relates to us each on a personal level.

Well, I still think of God as a male since He is known as Father and with the pronouns He and Him. Anyways, although I agree with you imagination *creates rainbow with hands* is still a wonderful tool when used correctly. :biggrin2 (You knew that eventually somebody had to make this joke. XD!)

I looked up the website, sivanaspirit.com and Eastern Mysticism falls in the same category as what is written in Deuteronomy 18:9-12 as being an abomination to God. We get passionate about God, not by trying to give Him a form and making Him what we want Him to be for our needs. We get passionate about God through His mercy and grace by having faith in Jesus Christ and His finished works upon the cross for His love for all of us.

You are more than welcomed here and I pray you get to know the real God of all creation as we have, but teaching Eastern Mysticism that is not of God will get you banned from this forum as it comes against our Terms of Service you agreed with when you signed up. Please feel free to ask questions for that is how we grow in knowledge of God and His written word.

Hope you will stay with us. :)

hi for his glory
may i ask...
is there such a thing as western mysticism?
Is the word "mysticism" alone a problem word for most Christians?

Eastern Mysticism is a New Age religion that originated in Eastern Asia found in Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism that was brought to the western culture. Mysticism is a belief characterized by self-delusion or dreamy confusion of thought, especially when based on the assumption of occult qualities or mysterious agencies that are an abomination to God, Deuteronomy 18:9-12.

To my knowledge there were Christian mystics who had a very special relationship with God. Including John of the Cross, Theresa of Avila to name a few.
Im just not sure if all Christians recognize these mystics as genuine saints

I'm going to move this over to the Lounge as we can all discuss it there as not to many come into New Member Forum as this forum is more for introductions.

It's late and I need to go to bed so I will discuss this in more detail tomorrow.

God bless and have a good night.

I am trying to figure out if I belong here. On another forum I was banned for complaining about the criticism of my posts. I was caught off guard because I was looking for love and support. The thread in question was about whether or not it was alright to use your imagination to personify the Holy Spirit.

Welcome to the Forum.

I have found love and support since I have joined here and have learned many things from different people here.

One of the things I have learned is love and encouragement goes both ways.

I hope you make some new friends here and find the love and support you are looking for.

Sometimes people just want to get to know you, because many of us are looking for the same thing.

When we belong to Christ Jesus, we belong to each other, even though we may believe differently.

This is a subject that can bring about a passionate response from some, because it’s something that we hold most dear.

I hope we can discuss this in a way that is fruitful.

God may or may not be male or female.

I see that the scriptures indicate to us that God is male as well as female.

When you say, “it’s a bit insulting for something that we hold most dear”, that statement works both ways, because I for one hold family most dear, and God is presented in scripture as family.

Father and Son is an indication of family.

Family includes male and female.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27

What other religions have or do not have has no bearing on the truth.

Many strange things are being promoted these days about the Holy Spirit, on this we probably agree.

When a subject is as controversial as this one, it’s good to stay close to what the scriptures say.

This would probably make for an interesting thread, as you indicated to jasonc.

I don’t know how fruitful it would be, but it would be interesting.

I was just told on another board that I could not personify the Holy Spirit especially if I am attempting to personify using a feminine form.

Please share the scriptures that you believe personify the Holy Spirit as female.

That would be a good start.

Blessings to you.

Christian mysticism is often thought of as the practice of experiential knowledge of God as in so called hidden meanings of scripture as in Gnosticism which is wrong as the Bible does not have hidden meanings.

Christianity focuses on knowing God through the scriptures and communion with the Holy Spirit through prayer. Mysticism tends to be an individual, subjective practice whereas Biblical Christianity is both an individual relationship with God and one that is necessarily out in community as there is no such thing as solo Christian.

Mystical union with God is different from the type of intimacy with God to which Christians are called. Mysticism tends to seek out the experience and is sometimes seen as secretive or elitist. Christians are aware of and engaged in Spiritual realities, Ephesians 1:3; 6:10-19, and Biblical Christianity involves spiritual experience, but intimacy with God is intended for all Christians and is not veiled by any sort of mysterious practice.

i would add the following if using same link as authority:

Thank you for posting the link. This is the link I used for my source, but did not give the full of what they have explained so it would be good to read all of it.

Hi Susan, and welcome.
I read your article as well as several other blogs you've written. I get the gist of what you wrote, and it's good.

You won't get banned for any of your blogs. We only ban those who seek to create division. I don't get that sense with you.

As with any community, there will always be disagreement among members. But it's how we handle those disagreements that matters and personally, i like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and think the best of everyone.

I hope you will settle in and we can all get to know each other.

Jeff
