Religion is about what you do. Your good works, law keeping, how much you give, your church attendance, fasting etc.

The Gospel is about who Christ is & what Christ did. Gods Son, who Died (sins required wage paid), was buried (proof he died) & his resurrection (Gods receipt, payment received & accepted). And when we trust Him, what He can do thru/with/in us.

The prepositional phrase's: "In Christ" "In Him" "In Whom".

Are "POSITIONAL" statements used over 100 times by Paul

Rom 8:1 There is now no condemnation for those who are "in Christ" Jesus

1 Cor 1:30 Because of him that you are "in Christ", who has become for us wisdom from God that is, our righteousness, holiness & redemption

2 Cor 5:17 If anyone is "in Christ", he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come

Gal 3:26 You are all sons of God thru faith "in Christ"

Eph 2:
6 God raised us up with Christ & seated us with him in the heavenly realms "in Christ"

7 In order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us "in Christ"

Eph 2:10 We are God's workmanship, created "in Christ"

Eph 2:13 Now "in Christ" you who once were far away have been brought near thru his blood

Eph 3:6 This mystery is that thru the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of 1 body, & sharers together in the promise "in Christ"

Col 1:
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is "Christ in you", the hope of glory:

28 We proclaim him, teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect "in Christ"

1 Tim 1:14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith & love that "in Christ"

1 Tim 1:9 God saved us, & called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, according to his own purpose & grace, which was given us "in Christ" before the world began

2 Tim 2:1 My son, be strong in the grace that is "in Christ"

2 Tim 2:10 I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is "in Christ" Jesus, with eternal glory

1 Thess 4:16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead "in Christ" will rise first

Eph 1:13 "In whom" ye also trusted (Christ), after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation "in whom" also after that ye believed, you were sealed with God's Holy Spirit of Promise
(NOTE: (When you accepted God's grace & placed your faith in Christ's redemptive, sin atoning sacrifice/payment. Your salvation was sealed by God's Holy Spirit. (Also see: 1 Cor 15:1-4 & Rom 10:8-13)

Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
(NOTE: Earnest means deposit: When we trust Christ's sin atoning payment. God places/deposits His Holy Spirit in us)

2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
(NOTE: His Holy Spirit "in us" is a down payment/earnest placed/indwelling in our hearts.

Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
(NOTE: The Holy Spirit we see in Eph 1:13 sealed us. Now & forever dwells "IN" us)

1 Cor 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
(NOTE: The Spirit of God dwells "IN" you)

2 Tim 1:14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
(NOTE: The Holy Spirit "SEAL" that was committed to keep & protect us. Lives "IN" us)

Col 2:10 And ye are complete (made perfect) "in him" which is the head of all principality and power

Believers "IN CHRIST"; are Forgiven, Reconciled, Justified, Sealed & Have Eternal Life.

We have to die to self and live for Christ and seek those things from above where Christ sits at the right hand of God, Colossians 3:1-4.

Latin root word for religion is bondage, which is different then that of Gods pure religion of James 1:27, but that of following tradition and the doctrine of a mans church, not Gods true Church. The Latin root word is religare as re is a prefix that means return and ligare means to bind. Religion tells you what you can and cannot do and becomes socially acceptable by mans interpretations, traditions and doctrines. Religion is what nailed Christ to the cross because the Bible is not socially acceptable to society, if it were then Christ would have died in vain. God is not about mans religion, nor does he recognize organized religion. God is about a personal relationship with you and His son Jesus Christ.

James-Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
The head of the body of Christ-The message of the gospels -Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Religion is about what you do. Your good works, law keeping, how much you give, your church attendance, fasting etc.
People take this at face value and don't really study what it means to be a christian. In this case people are religious, but obviously when we do good works go to church, etc, it is a result of our belief. Standard is important, but not as important as following.
