This is what the Bible clearly reveals about the seventy weeks. From vs.24 to vs.27 was seventy weeks or 490 days beginning with Ezra, Ezra chapter 1-6, rebuilding the temple to the time of the Messiah (Jesus Christ) being fulfilled in His birth, death and resurrection.

So you believe it was a year and a half to rebuild the Temple?

The 70 weeks are a reference to 490 years not 490 days.

Here is scripture for how long it took to build the Temple.

The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?”
John 2:20

So that should tell you the prophecy is about 490 years, not 490 days.

The prophecy is laid out in 3 distinct time periods.

  • 7 weeks = 49 Years
  • 62 weeks = 434 years
  • 1 week = 7 years

Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy.
“Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;
The street shall be built again, and the wall,
Even in troublesome times.
Daniel 9:25-25

So far 483 years has been fulfilled, with 1 remaining “week”, or seven year period, to be fulfilled.

The time period in between the 69th week and the 70th week is referred to as The time of the Gentiles.

490 years, not 490 days.

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations. Matthew 1:17

  • the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

My bad, yes I agree it is 49 years building the second Temple, I just forgot to add the day for a year Biblical principle. I went back to my notes and changed it.

From vs.24 to vs.27 was seventy weeks or 490 days (490 prophetic years when you add a day for a year principle), beginning with Ezra, Ezra chapter 1-6, rebuilding the temple to the time of the Messiah (Jesus Christ) being fulfilled in His birth, death and resurrection. It took 49 days/years to rebuild the Temple.

Ok cool.

So we agree the prophecy is about 490 years.

483 have been fulfilled.

So the basic math goes like this.

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations. Matthew 1:17

14 x 40 = 560 years total.

Keep in mind these are concurrent years.

Minus 70 years for the time of captivity.

This brings us to 490 years from the going forth of the command of Cyrus to release the children of Israel to Christ. 490 Years.

These are concurrent years according to the genealogy list in Matthew 1:17.

I will pause here to allow comments.

The 70th week (490 prophetic years) begins with the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.

Ezra 1: 2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

Messiah is cut-off at the crucifixion which is the 69th week (483 prophetic years). God set aside the wrath that will come in the 70th week (490 prophetic years) and revealed the revelation of the mystery to the apostle John and we will be in that gap between the 69th week and the 70th week until God pours out his wrath upon those who refuse to repent during the seven trumpet and seven vial judgments then will Jesus return and sends His angels out to the four corners of the earth to gather His bride to Him.

The command to rebuild Jerusalem was in 457BC. Daniel 9:25 says it took 7 weeks (49 years) to rebuild. This brings us to 408BC.

Daniel says 62 weeks later (434 years) Messiah will arrive. This brings us to 27AD which is the end of week 69 and start of week 70. (408 – 343 = 26. Add 1 year for year “0” and you come to 27AD)

Daniel 9:26, 27 says Messiah is cut off and in the midst of week 70th Jesus shall confirm the covenant (grace) and that which is determined (judged) will be that of Gods judgment of those not found written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Ok. I will continue with the math.

These are concurrent years according to the genealogy list in Matthew 1:17.

Now we have to consider and apply a couple of things.

First the principle of who God uses to start and stop the the time line, in which the gaps are created.

God uses world rulers.

The first one to begin the prophetic time line is, as you mentioned, King Cyrus; Ruler of the World Empire, and king of Persia.

His successor who brought the work of the prophecy to a halt is also the king of the Persian World Empire; King Artaxerxes

Now when the copy of King Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem against the Jews, and by force of arms made them cease. Thus the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem ceased, and it was discontinued until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia. Ezra 4:23-24

As we see from the the same passage it was the next successor King Darius who began the prophetic again in which the prophetic clock started again and ended with the event called
“Messiah the Prince”

So we have a generation 40 years as our pause between the 7 weeks and the 62 weeks, in which we have Cyrus to Artexerxes to Darius, as a generation.

So we subtract this 40 year pause from our 490 years of the 14 Generations from the captivity of Babylon to Christ; the birth of Christ

So we have our 490 years minus 40 leaves us with 450 years.

We take our 450 years plus the 33 years of the life of Christ, which brings us to Messiah the Prince.

483 years.

Next I hope to discuss the event of Messiah the Prince and what that was.

I do agree with this, but maybe you should start another thread on this as I think we are getting way off topic and it would allow others to join in.
