Barbarian observes:
So do a lot of other things in science. But the science is entirely apart from what (if anything) we should do about it. You're confusing policy with science. You changed the subject from science to what people propose to do about what we've learned.

It's called a red herring fallacy.

Yep. The fact that the climate of the world is changing is one thing. What, if anything, should be done about it is something apart from science. Even if you don't know much about science, that should be clear to you.

I blame cows and termites for GW. It's not AGW. It's IGW and CGW. Or maybe ICGW but I think that belongs to some Union.

Pardon my interruption, please?

I was skim/reading and got to pg 12 on thread when something caught my eyes. I have much respect for a certain poster here, a man known to me only as
Barbarian. Barbarian has taught me that it was the Earth (eretz) itself, partnered with God, that created life. I've held onto this, his thought, for many, many years now and to me? It has stood the test of time.

If your guy thinks evolution is about abiogenesis, he's already gone off the rails. God says that the earth brought forth living things, and that is far more credible than any man's reasoning against it.

Here's what caught my eye:
As you may know, St. Augustine is one of the most respected Christian theologians by all three major branches of Christianity. He made three attempts at resolving Genesis as a literal history, before concluding that there was no way to do it. He published his findings in The Literal Meaning of Genesis. No one thought to argue with him. Until the invention of YE creationism in the early 1900s, no one would have had a reason to do so.
Greetings, my friend.

Your choice of saints is well made (as you know). What I would like to point out, in the most friendly spirit I have, is that the saint is not the final authority on the matter. Yes, that is a very powerful voice you are quoting and drawing from. Yes, I would, and do commend you on this work; especially your exceptional sourcing.

One thing I would like to say, in the Spirit of "constant improvement," is that, although your concept may sound like a final authority, you are not quoting Omega. There is one who is Alpha. He is the same but, and to my point of view, appears altogether different when He returns. That man is the "Closer of closers," The Omega.

Of course, He is more than that too, 'King of kings', 'Lord of lords', which kinda goes to my point here.

Omega -->

"I am Alpha --And-- Omega" means that, whatever God starts, He will be there to finish. As the Psalmist declared, "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God: ~Psalm 90:2

Science can't know "spirit"
A prophecy: The word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within ,...

Jesus, "Father into your hands I commit my spirit"
Stephen "Lord Jesus into your hands I commit my spirit"

Paul - "For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them"

John -At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.

I see creation not evolution. I believe I am spirit in the tent of the body.

For all of us. And yes, Augustine is by no means infallible. He, for example, rejected the pagan notion of an eternal Earth, but made the opposite error of assuming it was very young.

He did have the remarkably good sense to argue that unless scripture is very clear, we should be careful about our opinions and willing to be open to new evidence when it becomes known. So he's once again anticipated the truth even when it wasn't yet available to him.

Not infallible, but pretty smart, I think. While it seems very clear that all living things evolved from a common ancestor, it is true that all scientific knowledge is provisional on new evidence.

We could, all of us, be wrong, except where Scripture is so clear that Christians overwhelmingly agree on it.

I see both.

"But if I see farther and clearer, it is because I am standing on the shoulders of giants."
Issac Newton
I have heard of both. I accept one. I am comfortable on the shoulders, (foundation), that I stand on.
You are free to believe in both. I however only believe in the one. The importance is to be one with Christ, which I hope that you are.

I'm a biologist. It would be impossible for me to close my eyes to the evidence.

Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

I agree with that scripture - being understood from what has been made

I believe God created the first man out of the dust. The first Adam was of the dust.

I think Ezekiel 37, though a metaphor for Israel, demonstrates the invisible qualities/abilities of God. He spoke the bodies came to be. He then breathed life into the bodies and they became living souls.

Adam and Eve were able to talk.
