Is Jesus' sacrifice eternal just in its result, or ALSO in its process?
What exactly does eternal mean?
What does its process mean?

This is a definition of the word Eternal:

eternal
[ih-tur-nl]

adjective
  1. without beginning or end; lasting forever; always existing (opposed to temporal):eternal life.
  2. perpetual; ceaseless; endless:eternal quarreling; eternal chatter.
  3. enduring; immutable:eternal principles.

We many times say that from the beginning, God had planned a Savior since He knew we would need one. Genesis 3:15

I hesitate to post the meaning of "process" because it could have such different meanings. Perhaps this is the problem in understanding the question?
Here's the meaning from Webster's:

Webster Dictionary
  1. Process(noun)
the act of proceeding; continued forward movement; procedure; progress; advance
  2. Process(noun)
a series of actions, motions, or occurrences; progressive act or transaction; continuous operation; normal or actual course or procedure; regular proceeding; as, the process of vegetation or decomposition; a chemical process; processes of nature
  3. Process(noun)
a statement of events; a narrative
  4. Process(noun)
any marked prominence or projecting part, especially of a bone; anapophysis
  5. Process(noun)
the whole course of proceedings in a cause real or personal, civil or criminal, from the beginning to the end of the suit; strictly, the means used for bringing the defendant into court to answer to the action; -- a generic term for writs of the class called judicial

Right now my opinion is that Jesus' sacrifice IS eternal.

Was it??
Was only the RESULT eternal
Or was also the PROCESS eternal??

Lets answer it this way
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

The sacrifice of Christ is eternal in the sense that is has already been made and salvation is through the sacrifice of Christ by the grace of God, Ephesians 2:8, which is temporal in it's timing for now is the time of salvation, 2 Corinthians 6:2. Once Christ returns for His Bride on the last day, John 5:28, 29; 6:40 that door of salvation is closed forever.

they call it grace GOD RICHES AT CHRIST EXPENSE yes it is eternal--everlasting you can know that you know that you know beyond a shadow of doubt your saved ..the Bible says
2 Peter 1:3

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” the process is us we become a work in progress called sanctification which has 3 parts sanctified set apart at the new birth. 2. W.I.P changed from Glory to Glory one step at a time.. grow in the grace and knowledge. ( this is a never ending process ) 3 finial stage we made it home work completed .

let me say this we can be secure in him.yes eternally secure . but this is not reason to sin purposely and say i have eternal life so i am secure .that is a false statement. paul wrote
Romans 6:15

“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.”

here is the full chapter
6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

the mistake people make when they hear the words eternal life/ eternal security is they say so you can live how you want and still go to heaven... that is not Bible i am not advocating the teaching osas or eternal security . what i am advocating is being secure maturity in Him the key is abiding in him .. when abiding we are to bear fruit . i compare it to our relation ship with our parents .there unending love . yes we can separate ourselves from his love.. but he still loves us . the fifty million dollar question issssssssss . can you lose your salvation ? i will not answer that it is my point of view .it is not my job to say.. the Bible gives us warning about unrepentant sin . so i say when i leave this walk of life. i want to know that i gave it my best shot . will i sin ? yes i surely will but the good news is we have a advocate with the father . once again this is not a promotion of osas or osnas . i call it a know so salvation . if my post gets remarks that i am wrong that i am promoting osas.. i will bluntly tell one to go fly a kite

Also His pierced hands, feet and side are visible forever. This speaks to His eternal sacrifice. .

One might say "the process" of His sacrifice ends when there is no more sin?

never thought of it that way
"the process" of His sacrifice ends when there is no more sin?
then that would be when we leave this earth ..imo there will always be sin until the new heaven and earth .but yes it is eternal

The result of His sacrifice is an eternal process of restoration and revealing the unsearchable riches of God.

The more we are transformed into His image, the more we can apprehend, perceive and comprehend the love of God.

Like the song say’s ...

When we’ve been there 10,000 years, we will have no less days to sing God’s praise, than when we’ve first begun.

But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
1 Corinthians 2:9

Thanks JLB.
Is this process only for us...
or is Jesus' sacrifice somehow still going on right now in a spiritual way we might not really understand?

Maybe I just think too much!!

P.S. You like scripture,,,how about Genesis 3:15?
ALL the statements made by God in Genesis 3:14-19
are still going on, still happening...
Why can't 3:15 still be happening...
Just a thought.

Thanks JLB.

Maybe we will know more when we are on the other side.

Maybe you have an inkling about that Day.

Your first paragraph is surely true.
I don't know about the second one!

Please read the PS in post no. 9

I believe the results of His finished sacrifice are eternal.

So in that sense Genesis 3:15 is still continuing to produce fruit.

At the same time, we should consider Genesis 3:15 took place before the foundation of the world.

PS

It is good that you grasp one thing and also not let go of the other; for the one who fears God comes forth with both of them.
Ecclesiastes 7:18

Or:

is appropriating the Grace of the Cross, by Faith, an ordinary means of Grace? Or is it something else? (Trying to label it in a more Catholic way)
I'm not Catholic...
But even in Catholicism it's something else.
Jesus is the Savior even for them.

I guess I don't understand how Jesus being Savior is different from what Catholics refer to as an ordinary means of Grace. Communion (Eucharist) is an ordinary means of Grace, right?

say what ? not sure i understand what your saying

You need to put that phrase back into it's context, which is Catholic terminology.

I much prefer Isaiah 12 as a way to express the idea: "with joy you shall draw water from the wells of Salvation."

I find this pertains to initial forgiveness in the exact same manner as we get anything else from God.
