A suicide bomber has blown his car up outside a church and gunmen opened fire on another service in Nigeria, killing three people and wounding dozens.

A purported spokesman for the Boko Haram Islamist group claimed responsibility for Sunday's attacks and threatened further violence.


"We are responsible for the suicide attack on a church in Jos and also another attack on another church in Biu," the spokesman, who called himself Abul Qaqa, said in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri.


"The Nigerian state and Christians are our enemies and we will be launching attacks on the Nigerian state and its security apparatus, as well as churches, until we achieve our goal of establishing an Islamic state in place of the secular state."

In fairness, it should be pointed out that people ascribing to all major religions have committed great evils including murder, in the name of their faith. I don't denounce Islam because of the actions of these people per se... just as I can't denounce Christianity because of that idiot in Norway who killed all those kids on that island.

While most faiths, even the more radical fringe groups, immediately denounce and distance themselves from such atrocities, too many in the Islamic community celebrate them and promote a version of their theology that the perpetrators will be rewarded for it.

The notion of a "moderate Muslim" - just like unicorns and fairies - is a myth. Where are the voices of outrage from all those peace-loving moderates who denounce such atrocities?

Why no moderate voices raised in opposition from all those "moderate, peace-loving Muslims?" At best, it's because they are cowed by the extremists in their religion, afraid that the same fate would befall them that befalls all others who cross the Islamists.

At worst, it's because they believe in what their "extremist" counterparts are doing, and support them through their silence.

In either case, news of another church bombed or more Christians killed by Islamists is greeted with silence and tacit approval from Muslims.

Islam has been at war with the west almost since it's inception. We should expect no less from people who see Jihad as their only sure path to paradise.

I ignore most ignorance but this one gave me a little internal chuckle / facepalm. How many countries are invading and occupying Western countries, may I ask? Is it the Iraqis who are occupying American soil, or perhaps it's Palestinians who are occupying the land of European Jews? Or maybe the Afghans are occupying the land of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation nations? No, no... Maybe the 2 million French killed by the Algerians - or wait, was it the other way around? The Italians and the Libyans, the Spanish and the Moors, the British and the Indians - all these ring bells?

If there exists a mentality of victimisation among any of these peoples and others, then there is no smoke without fire. This is not to condone any evil action - two wrongs most certainly do not make a right - but your one-sided view is contrary to objectivity.

If we look at this Biblically, we should not be suprised at the resurgence of Islam, for the LORD said, Twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. Genesis 17.18 We were also told that Ishmael will be a wild man; his hand shall be against every man, and every man's hand against him. Genesis 16.11 I believe what we are seeing now in the 6:00 news is the culmination of the enmity. Sarah and Hagar could'nt stand each other, and neither do their children tolerate each other. Fortunately for us, the everlasting covenant was estblished between GOD and Isaac, which by extension includes Christians. Hello, look at France 437 + special ethnic zones, zones steeped in Islam, where for example when a mosque caught fire, the Muslims stoned the fire brigade trying to put it out.
Look at Germany, where they need to call on Turkish police to come and help to control some Islamic saturated suburbs, because lawlessness was so out of control.. This is all information freely available.

Seeker, his point is a good one. Muslim immigration to European nations and their general unwillingness to assimilate to the societies has resulted in heightened tension. These nations have had to enact legislation specifically to combat the overwhelming impact on their way of life. Afghanistan was once a primarily Christian nation. Look at it now!

European nations that don't want to be another Afghanistan will be wise to take measures into their own hands today. I don't see any other group of people doing to whole countries what Muslims do. if YHWH didnt make that covenent with the hebrews there would be NO christ thus NO christians! that promise to abraham is indeed a messianic one as abraham is the father of jesus in the flesh and jesus being a hebrew is indeed the means by which all nations are being blessed in isreal. i know my jewish kin will disagree but as a christian and saved jew the promises to us are in that book. isreal and christ are tied together. god will not forgot isreal. if he does then theres no messiah and no plan of salvation!
