There's a popular thing going around of celebrites singing this song... It sounds like a decent gesture and it probably is.

It also sounds like a nice song but I'm here to argue that John Lennons dream or vision is false. Let's look at the lyrics

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us

Above us, only sky

Let's imagine no heaven or hell... I'm immediately horrified by Johns world...
Only sky above, no sun, moon or stars... This world is limbo or somewhere torturous

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion, too

No countries.
I see no civilization, no society, no language or maths or science or mankind
I see apes Mr Lennon. Gangs of up 200 chimps living scattered all over the world.

Nothing to kill or die for.
That actually would be nice John i agree. And...

No religion too.
As if it's responsible for all the killing and death.
We don't have to imagine Mr Lennon, the atheist societies of Nazi Germany, Soviet Union and China showed us a world without religion... Still killing and death... The apes show us world without religion... Still killing and death... So uv solved nothing

John Lennons world is wack.
What is Kool aid? We don't have it here but it seems popular in America but I don't get how u guys use the term...

Does Lennon need to "drink the Kool aid"?
He needs gallons of it...

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

No possessions. No shelter. No vehicles. No cloths. No property. No loved ones. No food. Nothing. We don't need to imagine John we have seen what poverty looks like

No need for greed or hunger. That would be nice Mr Lennon, and...

A brotherhood of man. Now you want to unite like a religion or country does... HA haha make up ur mind John ur mind is very damaged from drug abuse Mr Lennon

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

We are in agreement once again Mr Lennon. U certainly are a dreamer and there a lot of lost souls like youself.
Unfortunately John I will never join your nothingness. It is u guys that need to join Christ

What sounds like a beautiful song is really a disguise a false vision from John Lennon. If u liked the song I apologize for pointing out these errors and destroying the song for u...

Don't idolize celebrities, true...

It's a shame cos John plays a beautiful melody on that grand piano. And even though his voice isn't the greatest he does sing the song very well...

Let's try and rewrite the song. Lennon songwriting was one his strengths but I think we can write a nicer song. A song from a true perspective...

The lyrics are on Google I'll open the song... And someone add on and then someone else... We can make beautiful music here in lock down...Let's spit some lyrics... I'll start with...

Imagine life in heaven
It's easy if u try
In the wonder of God
No deceit or lies...

I know there are very articulate people who write beautifully...
Let's pull out the gold. Nothing cheesy or distasteful or offensive.

Just beautiful angelic lyrics... We can do it...

The chorus is next so let's spit it. Bible verses would be nice perhaps. The rhyme. The rithym. The beat. The melody. Feel it. And let the lyrics flow

The chorus don't need to change

Imagine all the people
Living life in peace ahhh
U may say um a dreamer
But um not the only one
I hope some day you will join us
And the world would live as one

That's hard to beat I think and applies to heaven real nice.

I forgot this bot

Imagine all the people
Living for today
Mr Lennon doesn't want us to be responsible to think about tme to think about our future. Just living for the here and now...
No way Mr Lennon. Not me

What is Kool aid? We don't have it here but it seems popular in America but I don't get how u guys use the term...
This is specifically referring to the Jonestown cult where the leader gave all the followers kool-aid that was laced with poison as part of a mass suicide (which was actually mass-murder). We also use it to suggest that followers of a certain destructive ideal are "drinking the kool-aid." A sheep, or lemming, mentality.

Wow, I never realized how Sacrilegious this song actually is before. Scary.

Ye me either, it is very scary. You just hear the lovely melody from the piano, the tune and the chorus and its a really good song, I can see why it's so popular

Thats why I was shocked when I actually decided to concentrate on what he says in the verses after noticing the opening line of the song. I don't want to dis John Lennon i think he had a good heart and i respect his music.
I just think it's sad that these were his thoughts

Ok ive rewritten the song... Sorry John Lennon
I've kept the original chorus but made slight changes to the 3 verses
I've tried to keep as much of John's lyrics as possible and kept everything in order
Anyway play the song and follow these lyrics to see if it flows

Ok John play that melody for us...

Imagine life in heaven
It's easy if u try
In the wonder of God
No deceit no more lies

Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
Ah Ahh Ahhhhh

Imagine the realm of God
It isn't hard to do
No pain or suffering
And no death too

Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You Hoo Hoooo
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine eternal life
I wonder if u can
No need for greed or hunger
Every woman and man

Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You Hoo Hoooo
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

I don't understand the "imagine there is no heaven" because heaven even there is a million different interpretations is always seen as a good peaceful, joyful, place.

I mean believe in God or not the word heaven and the meaning of heaven and heavenly has always been seen as peaceful and the complete opposite of doom and gloom, so why was he being so negative.

Wouldn't you think "imagine there is no hell" would be more understandable. Even hell just means the grave, but it's always been interpreted as death doom and gloom.

If you say heaven because it's a religious saying then there is also hell. One is life one is death.

Many famous song writers and musicians are very talented yet not very intelligent.

True. Im not sure if it's even possible to be both.
But "intelligent" can mean a lot of things too. U could say u have to be intelligent to play an instrument, write music and lyrics

The answer is in his 2nd verse

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for

The word religion is a good indication of who John Lennon is.
He's not only an atheist but an anti-theist.
Rejects God and all religious teachings is the atheist.
But the anti-theist views religion as harmful and typically blames it for wars, death, etc on religion

Someone mentioned the hypocrisy of a millionaire saying to imagine no possessions.
Did u ever notice how sacrilege the song was?

I just remembered in the atheist forum i posted a thread "Do u want heaven to exist?"
Cos how could you not want heaven ,right... Their given a choice; heaven (of their choice) or eternal nothingness... At it's core its asking if u want to live or die.
It's a very psychological question

The results of the survey were...
Of about 30 respondents only 2 or 3 picked heaven.
The rest picked eternal nothingness.
They chose death over life, offered eternal life and they chose death.

Thats a really deep insight into the psyche of some atheists

That's why I tend to understand animals more than people. They make an awful lot more sense. Or rather to me at least.

This is definitely interesting to get into the psyche of people, cause you are 100% right.....why wouldn't you want heaven?

I have a cousin who is a musical genius and he got to graduate a couple years early and go to Juilliard. I am wholly convinced that God gives us a balance of gifts and talents. He is genius in music and school, but very lacking in common sense. So, we have to be aware that maybe if we're just average all around.........that may be okay.
