Our cat, Sage, is having kittens. :sad The first two died while she was giving birth. This is her first time. She is resting now. I hope she copes better with the other ones. I put olive oil on her for lubrication, and now we are waiting until the next one is ready.

I'm so sorry to hear that the first 2 passed.

My mom's cat just had kittens. It was her first time and she's barely a year old. She had 7, but surprisingly, none passed.

I go to check up on them. They are so much fun to watch growing.

Have the other ones come out yet? Are they ok?
I may not be Christian but... :pray

You know what, Reido, I am sitting here making calls and surfing by her...she is sleeping and hasn't really tried to pushed the next one out yet. She has been having contractions off and on, though. I am going to intervene more with the next one. Thanks.

Is there a chance that she is only having two? She hasn't tried again since this morning, and I am getting worried about her labor stopping.

Maybe you should take her to the vet tomorrow, that doesn't sound right to me....but I've never had a cat who had kittens.

Cats and dogs can have only 1 offspring. They can also have more than 1 father to their litters. But Caroline is right. I would have the vet do an ultrasound just in case there are more in there. You don't want to have to bury them all.

But it's very possible that she is done.

We have an old cat, a grandmother to be exact. A few years ago, she decided to start having kittens.

Her first litter was "ONE", her second "four", with one dead one, her third "three" all alive. This last litter are Monsters, they look 6 weeks old, and are only three. We thought she was going to have 6 or 7 she was so big, it was a surprise when only three were born.

Thanks you guys for the information. She is doing well. She started eating yesterday evening and while she is still resting a lot, she's becoming more and more active as we go. I examined her, and I think she is finished with the kittens, she certainly has had no signs of labor. She is very small, and her kittens were nice and big...they were both calico like her. :sad Anyway, I had to pull both kittens out because they were stuck in the birth canal, and so I think she just couldn't deliver them at that size. I'm glad it's over, and if I would have known I would have taken her in at the first sign of labor to save those kittens. :shame We've helped with a lot of births, but this is the first time for a cat.

Awww, Tina. :sad I'm thrilled she is ok though. Ask the Vet if she is capable of having more offspring, considering her size. I'd hate to hear she was lost during labor. :gah Spaying is a viable option and one the benefits that overall future health of the cat.

.. and by all means, feed kitty the best possible cat food available. :yes viewtopic.php?f=10&t=36921

Here are two, of those three week old kittens (monsters). One girl, and one guy. :)

Ooh, they're good looking kittens. Can I have the male? LOL The one on the left looks a little like my Alex:

The one on the right is the Male, his ears are trimmed all the way around in white. The Female has a black spot next to her nose, that's the way we told them apart at first.
The mom is a calico, and as far as I know the dad is a "huge black bushy" cat.

They belong to my Grand-Daughter, and getting one is like filling out federal adoption papers. She is really picky about where her "adopted" babies go. :) That's good I suppose, but they are usually around so long you get attached to the little critters.

Caroline she was dropped here last August. She is less than a year, I believe. She is actually a barn cat, and a great mouser! Despite her size she is strong, and pretty feisty at times. We have another cat that was dropped off too, Smokey, but she is a lot bigger in size. We also have at least two wild cats. I've only caught glimpses of them, but I know their around...probably one of them is the dad. We feed all of these cats, but to be honest they are outdoor barn cats and are not into being tamed too much. Sage has been more sweet since she has been pregnant, and she was a good girl while I had to pull those kittens out...I hate to think of it...but normally she is pretty aloof. She seems good today, but in May I am going to try to catch her and Smokey for their rabies shot. Smokey is very friendly. It would be impossible to catch the other two. Anyway, the two girls will definately have to be fixed, because we really do not need more cats.

Vic and samuel...those kittens are too cute.

He's a Maine Coon, with the classic "tuxedo" markings. He's such a sweet and affectionate cat, but he's shy around strangers. He's the total opposite of Opie, the one that died in Jan.

Tina, do you have any pics of your cats?

edited to add the word "shy".
