That's very good workmanship! Does something like this take a long time to make?
Thank you, actually the stitching by hand takes a long time, but if i had to put it into hours, I would say 3-4 of actual labor there is time needed to let dies and stains to flash(dry) worst part of it is I made this for my son for his work as an exterminator and his dog chewed it off his belt, i told him didnt we always tell you not to leave your clothes on the floor lol!

That's very impressive!
I love the smell of leather; there's something unique about it - it always reminds me of the country; like a ranch hand busy in a day's hard labour (that cowboy feel).

Thank you.
Took a bit to make. My wife loves it. Especially because her name looks like a brand name. LOL it was because I messed up the gold embossing of her name the first time.
That is one thing I don't have, a heat embosser. would love to do gold leaf on some things. I hand stitch everything, but in that case I can use a sewing machine, the leather is thin enough, but everything I make is between 7-9 ounce so it is thick. In the future I will get a machine, but for now I am good to go. I also do Pyrography, I have a colwood Regulator with a few different burners, and tips. it looks good on leather.

Tandy leather here let's me borrow their tools for free. Especially if the store isn't busy.
But I always hand stitch everything.

So is that Tandy’s heat embossed they came out with last year? I am going to buy their new sewing machine just hard to swallow 1300.00 price tag but it is cheaper than other professional machines.

The problem I seen with it was that it's great if you can get everything ready to sew a long straight stitch...but it goes fast and will sew through 4-5 layers of the heaviest leather. Small projects like that flashlight holder are done in a minute...but the seams on the red zippered pouch I made couldn't be done...the machine can't get into the corners the way hand stitching can.

But maybe since zippers are sewn into a flat piece before being added... dunno it would take some time to play with it to find out.

I still love the hand stitching...it's so durable. Even if a stitch gets broken the item stays together. Machine stitching? You break a stitch and the whole thing can come out.

You are correct! Personally if I make something the piece hand stitched makes it unique. I don’t want to do quantity just quality. Once I stamp my name on it I want people to believe the received something that the can hand down, heirlooms if you will, plus I pray over everything so it comes with a surprise:cross
