Certainly there are additional truths circulating among the people that are written of in God's word, so discernment is an absolute requirement if one supposes to grow any and mature.
And on what do you base this idea?
Scripture is closed there are no 'new' truths.

There are many who have stood up and proclaimed that they have a new 'truth' and if you investigate the mormons, JW, christadelphians, christianscience, scientologiset, islam etc you will learn that they don't have anything from God.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. ../

If you really believe this verse you will acknowledge that what I have been saying is correct.

As Romans 12:1+2 teaches we are to be brainwashed by scripture into knowing it and Gods will for us.

Yes,but
How do you preach , visit in prison, if you don't go there?
Jesus came to save the filth.
You can't have a candle, light, and hide it under the bed.
Who do you share it with, the saved?
The movie thing, the internet, depends on how you use it.
I do not make a God out of it.
So, I really see nothing wrong about going to the movies or use the internet.

Jesus came to save the sinners.

We also must go to those who need to hear the truth.

How do you justify allowing the filth of ungodly music or movies or anything else to enter our heart and mind?

Makes no sense.

Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. You will reap exactly what you plant. If you plant in the field of your natural desires, from it you will gather the harvest of death; if you plant in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit you will gather the harvest of eternal life. Galatians 6:7-8 Good New’s Translation

The Lord desires for us to be set apart unto Him, to be consecrated, to be holy.

The more we invest our time, and effort towards enhancing and building up a strong spiritual life by setting ourselves apart from worldly influences, and reading the word, praying or worshipping Him, listening to anointed music, and so forth, the more our desire for Him and the things of righteousness we will have.

The more we will be able to benefit others with our lifestyle, our words, our prayers.

Whether that is witnessing to our family, co-workers or people to whom the Lord sends us.

That is a good question. The truth is that the worst part of that stuff for us, is that it lingers in our heart and mind for a period of time. I've learned that a good worship song or three in the morning can linger with me all day too, lol! -

So true.

Meditating on the word or singing in our heart throughout the day is key to keeping our mind stayed on Him.

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3

First off, I do not go to filthy movies.
All movies is not filthy.

Ungodly music?
Define?
I love listening to Pink Floyd, is that ungodly?
One of my favorites is "on the turning away", it is Godly in my heart. Depends on how you look at it or take it.
Now, if it consisted of cussing, and killing and violence, I can't stand it.

God did not make us robots, we all are different.
I love the sound of the guitar and drums, most church music does not consist of that, and some may think that is ungodly.

If someone wants to judge me because I don't care for the same music, so be it.
God knows my heart.

You can turn anything to a God, idol.
Moderation is the key.
Your boat, car, job, fishing, gambling, house , mowing grass and other things, can take you away from spending time with God.

Same as the opening post, that is not my taste, I rather read the love letter that God left for us, THE BIBLE.

False doctrine is more filthy to God, than going to see, "Gone with the Wind".

Which is worst?

Sitting at church, listening and believing false doctrine, or going to see, "Gone with the Wind"?
I would rather be separate from those that teach false doctrine, unless it is for edifying.
I still communicate with them. I might not hang around with them.
Because,
2Thess.3:6-12
That ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
If any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
Yet, count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

I find these to be more dangerous than worldly men.

I agree with you. Roman's 14 is a pretty significant chapter.

I know that I get on here and say things, but it's not in judgement of others. I talk to myself as much as anyone, lol and about what the Lord puts on my heart about me and convicts me of things...

He told me stop listening to radio. Stop watching the news! And stop getting distracted and wasting time...
My apologies if anyone felt I was being judgemental to them or telling them how to walk their walk...such was not my intention.

Edward, I'm sorry, I forgot to quote the post of JLB.
I know that neither one of you were being judgmental.
If God laid it on your heart, that's great.

And yes, of course, one should get closer to their Maker.
I love Him and so do you.

Just trying to get JLB, to understand that God knows the heart.
I could had just left a Bible study that I was in that lasted for hours, then decided to bring my grandkids to see Grinch, at the movies.
I see nothing ungodly about it.

No harm done, brother, sorry you took it that way.
