I like the Donkey's perception of who he thought he was in all his self righteousness after the angel came to him and then getting angry at the angel as he found himself not so special after all after being tied up. The ending could have been more about who and why he was chosen to carry the King in his own perspective instead of it being all about himself parading through the street. The ending kinda reminds me of the donkey from the movie Shrek as he loved getting attention.

Just my :twocents and I liked the plug for CF.net as this is the best Christian forum I have ever come across.

Cute program.
I really liked it.

Since you asked...
Mules and donkeys are two different critters. Mules were forbidden but donkeys were good by Old Testament Laws....(613 laws). A mule is the sterile offspring of crossbreeding donkeys with horses.

More historical anthropology for you....and a bit of farm knowledge.
Donkeys, like domestic horses, still need to be trained in order to be useful for carrying packs or people. This happens after they are one year old. Otherwise...you or your supplies will become damaged. Any younger than this and you might damage the animal and you won't really be training it as they require the maturity to learn. Mules are a larger animal and capable of carrying more cargo that would usually require two donkeys.

Now for the anthropology...
Like the three loaves of bread you might give to a travelling holy man (similar in measure to the three seahs of fine flour Abraham had kneaded for his meal with God) people would tie up colts around their first birthday, that they hadn't trained yet, in case the Messiah needed it according to the prophesy. They would be the one providing the promised Messiah's donkey...God would be grateful to those that helped the Messiah. And no one in their right mind would try to ride an untrained donkey...except for God and the Promised Messiah.
Besides....someone might like the look of the animal and it was free advertising...just like a car lot today.

I haven't listened to the program yet but I LOVED that movie!! Donkey (with the exception of being a tie with Puss In Boots) has always been and will always be my favorite character from Shrek. :) At first I thought the show was about a tribute to Donkey Kong though lol! :lol Hey, I can do them both. :thumbsup

I don't want you to think that I thought it was all wrong or anything like that...
Voice is perfect for radio.
Characterizations, inflections, and portrayal were great.
Where the donkey might not exactly feel the things portrayed in the skit, John the Baptist surely did as was stated in scriptures. I'm sure he felt those things and more exactly as you laid them out.

I really did mean it when I said that the skit was entertaining and enjoyable. It's art... doesn't have to be exactly factual. And I think that it's good stuff.

Thanks for the honest insight guys!!!!!!!!! Just what I needed! Gotta do 2 more skits on Donkeys and this info is great stuff!!!!!!!!!!

I loved Don!! :biggrin My own emotional reaction (in putting myself in the donkey shoes....) as The Creator chose to be on him, and I don't know if you CAN or WANT to add it or not, of if the Spirit tells you it's great as it is, but my reaction was.... "The Master is riding me..... This is COOL!!! This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL!!!!!!!" I'm also thinking you're going to be portraying the one and only talking donkey.......right?? :biggrin Can't wait to hear it!!

This is one special DONkey for the King of Kings! Good bad or ugly reports would be appreciated!
subscribed to your channel - very funny skit - very realistic - isn't that just how we think - down in the dumps thinking the worst one minute - cheering and ecstatic the next

i loved how you portrayed a full range of human emotions and foibles - a masterpiece imo

i've listened to it 3 times now and there is a lot of depth there

you said it didn't turn out the way you expected - i think God was leading you because the layers of messages in the skit are thought provoking

good job - it is from the heart and it touches the heart - God is in it imo -

there are 2 things that i saw you might want to consider

1. not sure how it was in ancient israel but today a donkey is considered a colt up to 4 years - it sometimes takes them that long to grow strong and big enough to carry a burden - and a donkey colt can be weaned from his mother between 3-6 months - 6 months is preferred so you might want to work these kinds of figures into the age of your colt to make it more accurate - or not - literary licence works if you want to keep the ages you stated in your skit - or you could leave the ages ambiguous as scripture does

2. you might want to change a couple of words in your skit (i'm truly an ass - kick him the...) to accommodate children

other than these 2 points i was very impressed with your skit - well done - supporting you in prayer - you have an awesome creative gift - God is for sure using you - God bless you

EDIT - just wanted to add that your acting is exquisite

The bible uses the Colt of an Ass multiple times... Kicking the angel in the derf donkey is grown up talk. but, I'm truly not a child radio show. I talk about tough truth. And even tell listeners some topics are not child friendly b4 hand. Like abortion.... not for children. TY for your insight!!!!!!!!!!!!! Helps me loads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will post Donkey #2 prior to radio so guys can help me adjust it. and if anyone wants to play a voice in the next few skits respond here. I'm writing the next one now and its called the Judge.... The Donkeys name is the Judge. Can you figure it out?

Please remember I make skits for my radio show...This is just a great place to tweak skits and get great insight b4 airing it live. And trust me I LOVE insight

I would have used at least 6 adjustments in the last one... but i didnt wait long enough and it went live already.... Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!

I am willing to try to help... I've not had experience with recording much, but I think I can put feeling into different parts. Haven't had any real opportunity. If you'd want me to try, my Brother Rob....I am willing.
