What does it really mean to seek God's kingdom first and His righteousness?
I believe it means that we are to be preoccupied with the things of Yahweh as opposed to the things of the world. Food, clothing, shelter, entertainment, etc., take a back seat to the Gospel, prayer, teaching the Word, blessing others, etc.

"His righteousness" would mean the righteousness that comes by faith rather than by works apart from faith. All the Old Testament saints that were declared righteous had that kind of righteousness. New Testament saints should have the same. It is not only imputed righteousness through the Son, but the kind of righteousness that produces good works.

And there you have it. What we need to clearly understand is that (1) God has planned from eternity to establish His Kingdom and His rule on earth, (2) Christians have been commissioned to take the Gospel to every creature, (3) those was are saved enter into the Kingdom by grace through faith, and (4) Christ will literally return with power and great glory to literally, physically, visibly and spiritually establish His Kingdom on earth in the near future.

Conduct all of life's business in accordance with righteousness, not in our old way of lying, deceit, bullying, etc. The idea being, as Christians, we don't have to be afraid to not use our old sinful defensive weapons anymore to get what we need and want. Christ says that through faith in God we can do things his way even though our natural tendency is to think we have to be evil to get what we want. God says seek to be righteous first (you know, the way you've always thought won't get you anything) and 'all these things will be added unto you'.

Why would Christ want to come back and set up a kingdom on this earth when hes chilling out in heaven prepare a better place?. This earth has been turned into a hole.
11Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells." (2 Peter 3:11-13 NASB)

OK. I have always liked this verse. To me, it goes along with dying to self daily. Learn to obey what Jesus says, live better, allow room for inner-transformation, and...you'll be surprised, I guess. For me, its been...well, I've seen that "...all these things..." are often things I needed, but didn't have sense enough to realize I needed, much less pray for.

Correct. A hell hole. And that is precisely why He must come to purge the earth from sin and evil, and establish a New Heavens and a New Earth, "wherein dwelleth righteousness". At the same time, the heavenly New Jerusalem is the eternal home of the Church, the Body of Christ and the Wife of the Lamb. That is also where the eternal throne of God and of the Lamb will remain. God has a tremendous future for this purified earth which none can understand.

True, in many places the earth has been turned into a hole....but something is going to change.

Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

By that time, the inhabitants of the Earth will have had ample opportunity to turn to Yahweh through His Son Yeshua. Since they refused, they have to face the wrath of Yahweh resulting in Earth becoming a "hell hole". Governments will be destroyed by Yeshua's Kingdom. The presence of that Kingdom will prevent mass chaos and anarchy. Yahweh's Kingdom, ruled by His righteous Son, will set up a government that will stand forever. Torah will go forth from Zion throughout the Earth and peace will prevail. People will see the difference between their former governments and the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth and begin to submit to the New Heaven (Yeshua's righteous government). They will see the difference between living under Satan's deception and living without it. Many hearts will be changed as they embrace Yeshua and Yahweh's way of life.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.” 2 Chronicles 16:9 NKJV
