Mental illness such as schizophrenia and accountability of sin

Hi brothers and sisters.

I have a so called mental illness called schizoaffective disorder. It means that I have a so called schizophrenia and bipolar at the same time.

While sick and in not the best surrounding I have said something on two occasions that I still deeply regret.


I have sinned even when I wasn’t sick by the way.

My diagnosis was first psychotic, around 15 years ago, then schizophrenia, then paranoid schizophrenia, then final and longstanding diagnosis of like I said schizoaffective disorder.

my question is: What’s your opinion on how God views someone committing serious sin while having a so called psychosis?

You will have to ask God because I can't answer for Him.
A severely mentally ill guy killed his parents in my city a few months ago. I think he might have stopped taking his medication. In that case, his case worker shares some responsibility and the mental health profession.
It's just another tragedy. Apparently the parents were known to be kind and well respected in the community. I suspect they may have spoilt/ indulged their son but I don't know at all for sure.
The guy will end up in a prison for mentally ill. Possibly nicer accomodation than regular prison
Again I don't know for sure.

My daughter suffers from the same illness as you, but she has learning programs too. I see the struggles iit causes.
Everyone of us son and the only one who can judge you is God. He knows you better than anyone else can.
When we repent, like you have explained, we
are forgiven.

What’s your opinion on how

There is no ' so called psychosis, there is psychosis.'. Doubting the validity of your diagnosis does not help you with your treatment or with any possibility of recovery.

I often comment on other forums about problems people with OCD have. One of the articles I point them to makes this point that applies 100% to you.

" T oh are responcibile for your treatment, for following routines, for following schemes that enable you to cope with your mental illness and for taking any medication correctly and timely."

To get to your question, God does not blame or accuse bedridden sick people for not attending church.
He does not hold you accountable for sins committed while I'll.
However, if your illness is a result of your failure to look after your self then you are accountable.

That is a question i ask myself everyday. I committed blasphemy against the spirit in a church toilet while knowingly being mentally ill, demon possessed and cursed by the witch doctor to do it. The voices in my head which come from being cursed by a witch doctor refer to God as the holy spirit and try to get me to curse at the spirit explicitly. It was so bad i was committing the sin, over 500000 over 6 months before i committed it. I believe God knows everything, and he has to go by his word. I was saved at the time and i believe i still am. God cannot condemn me because i committed the mistake because of the mental state i was in, and according to scripture he still has to save me. Nothing separates us from the love of God, which means everyone is able to be saved. Look at Paul and what God did for him, he was completely undeserving.
