does any remember these days? I do. I remember getting milks, eggs, butter and ice cream as a kid by this method.

they did that in Canada? here in my county It just stopped in the early 80's we had a local diary that delivered for the try county area and he sold it to velda farms and they did it for a few years and stopped and used the old office and barns until the 90s as a route hub. it relocated that and left the barns and office still there.

Before my time, I remember my parents 8 tracks though. My MIL remembers the water guy having keys to their house to deliver water softner. He'd just let himself in the back door, shout-out 'culligan-man' and head to the basement. She said one or twice she'd still be in bed alone in the house when he came and went. Must have been a different world...

Milk is still delivered to households in my area, provided they sign an agreement with the participating milk companies/dairies...and pay the bill, of course. The companies provide the cooler into which they'll put the weekly order, along with an order form for 2 weeks' future delivery.

The area also has home deliveries by Schwans. You place the order & pay, & the items are presented at that time. Convenient.

I can remember when milk was delivered for four cents a quart with sweet tasting cream on top we wanted to take first, then sour milk was two cents a quart, and clabbered milk was only one cent per quart.

1966 we had milk delivered .. We got it in a box that had a heavy plastic bag in side.... sorta like the box wine of today... For some reason our toddler called milk bunk Bunk was his word for milk ... one day i stepped in the kitchen he was yelling BUNK BUNK as loud a he could the little guy was leaning against the fridge door with bunk flowing out all over the floor... he had opened the spout but could/did not close it... it was not funny then

..but it's hilarious now!

Great story, Reba ... sorry your little guy had such a traumatic experience with Bunk when he was young.
