...even if you'd like ot. or you find it somewhat embarrassing , when you realize that you know the words and such and none of your 'cool' friends do. yeah, -those- songs. maybe a guilty pleasure. maybe a tune that's burned into your memory banks, no matter how long its been or how you might wish maybe, just maybe, you could un-memorize it.

well...there's this 80s song, I ran...maybe And I ran...flock of seagulls. not bad per se, but...man oh man, now and then, it takes over my mind, seemingly out of nowhere. odd...

you?

I have noticed that, that does happen sometimes. Now if we look to the unseen for a possible explanation of why it happens, it becomes fairly easy to see why it does.

If I have been listening to music in the evening one day, many times I wake up the next day with a song in my head and it seems like it stays for most of the day. One of the songs that I listened to last night. So I see that what we plug into so to speak, lingers in our mind.

Have you ever had this happen to you where you wake with a song in your head...but you did not listen to it last night? In fact, you haven't heard the song in years or even thought about it?!

I have and I found that curious enough to ponder it and wonder why. I have even had it happen where I woke with a song, and then some particular portion of the lyrics of the song sort of plays itself out during the day in my life. Over time it became clear to me of how and why this happens. I think this can happen for two reasons. One way is that, you listened to the song and maybe even more than once because you like it...so it lingers in your mind and you wind up dwelling on it. And what we dwell on we make connection with and it becomes a part of the makeup of our being, who we are.

The 2nd reason is...it is the unseen spiritual forces of the world speaking to us. It could be dark forces or it could be the Lord trying to speak to us. I have had the Lord speak to me in this way and sometimes even with a secular song! So this is actually an important topic that you have raised here.

So I will not listen to certain music, like rap for instance. Most of it incites violence and inhibits a spirit of love. I like worship music in the morning because it lingers also and that is much more better than any other music because it gives glory and praise to our Lord.

Taking this a bit further, we see why scripture says certain things to us...like, be not of the world, (unplug from the world, 100%) because even the seemingly innocuous songs (or games or movies) are a seed which when mature has lead to sin's back door and grows up into death/don't think on those things, think on these things/ Meditate on the word of the Lord day and night, and things like that. Because what we put into our mind is what will linger and is who we become. It is the same with the word, it will linger also and grow as a seed within us in the same way.

God will and does use secular music as a way to speak to people. You ever listen to a secular song and a line or two of the lyrics strike you as Christian like? A subtle inference of God? (like for instance Ted Nugent/Stranglehold...some people say you got to pass away, I got news you never got to go...) and it goes like that. And I think the Lord uses secular music to be able to, get his foot in the door of the people and be able to get them to listen for a few. Where He would otherwise not be able to get in or be heard because they don't listen to gospel music or go to church. So Christian rock music, like, Skillet for instance...they will listen because it is rock and not gospel per se. It gets the Lord's foot in the door there!

Everything happens for a reason, Brother. I'm unfamiliar with the song that you mentioned. But I suggest for you to look at this song with your spiritual glasses on and ponder the possibility that the Lord might be trying to speak to you in some way within that song. ?? I dunno, maybe.

Yeah, after I left to go do an errand, it happened to me. I get this song in my head and it seems to have stuck...but I haven't been listening to that song...?? and I do not listen to the radio in my truck.

The song is (I think) called What About Love....and uh, let me see...I *think* it might be by Heart but I am not sure. I do like Heart. It prolly is the Lord speaking to me too, given the song.

The obvious for me would be Christian contemporary, but I also have an old soul for the big bands of the 20's through the 40's without any words. I also like Bluegrass and some country. Songs that get stuck in my heard are the old TV theme songs. My husband hates it when I sing them as they get stuck in his head and he finds himself singing them at work.
