When did you become saved?

i do not recall a time in my life that i did not know Jesus. My mom when she was in her teens was called to be a NUN. Then she met my dad and married him. She felt so bad about failing to do what God called her to do, that she prayed to God that she would dedicate her first born son to the Lord. my mom read the Bible to me while i was yet in the womb. Stories that i went to bed with were from the Bible as a kid. i have now read the entire Bible over 50 times in my life. and listen to it for 8 hours a day at work.

I have the same experience as you do.

Praise God. i have ran across a few others with this same experience as well.

I met Jesus in about 1974.
It was just as you've stated...questions, answers, conversations. One time I was driving in my car, and I can remember exactly where...on the Clearview Expressway in Bayside, Queesn....the Holy Spirit was so present in the car that it literally scared me.

Wow, same here. When i was a teenager, i worked two jobs plus went to school. Did not want to drop out of school because it was easy, NOT work. But after work one day around 11:30 at night, i was driving home, (had to get home, had school in the morning). But as i was driving. i heard "DAVID" scared me something awful. i thought someone was in the back seat and quickly looked. No one there. then i realized it is the Lord again. i said "Yes Lord" He then said something strange "Turn left at the next road". The next road left was a gravel road. so i turned on it. Driving on this road away from Home for about 20 minutes i believe. i started to have doubts. Maybe i am just hearing things, i am tired, need to get home to go to bed. Yeah, the next driveway i see, i am turning around and going home. Then i seen there was a bridge coming up and as i drove on the bridge there was a girl sitting on the edge of the bridge, and when she looked at me when i drove by, i can tell she was crying, mascara running all over her face, actually she looked kind of scary. So i pulled over on the other side of the bridge and walked to her to see what was wrong. She was crying, she asked me to just leave her alone. i sat down beside her, that was scary too. And asked her what happen, she did not want to talk about anything. nor tell me what was wrong. i then went on to talking about God and that God has a plan for her. Then she got real mad at me saying that God just allowed her to be Raped by her boyfriend and FOUR of his friends, and they just dropped her off out in the middle of nowhere. And she was going to kill herself. She made it quite clear that she did not want to talk about God in any way whatsoever. So i am sitting there having no ideal what to say to try to help. i mean if i can't talk about God, im at a loss as to what to say. Then God told me what to say "Tell her to join the military" i then said to her "What you need to do is join the military" She laughed at me and said that was the stupidest thing she ever heard. i told her, well that is what you need to do. She repeatedly asked me to leave. i told her that i was not going to go anywhere unless i was dropping her off at a house somewhere. i did not want her death on my conscience. So i waited there for what to me felt like an eternity. She finally said "Fine, and gets up and starts walking to my car" Then i took her to a house, turn this way, turn that way. i was so lost as to where i was at. i dropped her off and watched her knock on the door and then go in.
Now jumping years later. i am in the Air Force and i get a call, it is from her, the girl on the bridge. She was thanking me for her life, and has been looking for me forever. She never knew my name, only that i drove a Red Charger, She finally found out who i was, and then tracked me down and called me. Apparently she went and joined the military the very next day, She is married to a wonderful Christian man, and they have a baby on the way. i told her she should thank God, not me. She said she thanks God every single day, but that she felt compelled to find me and tell me what happened. And because she did, you are now hearing this story as well, how wonderful God is, and can be.
That is one example. God is so awesome.

I've had a couple of other experiences I'd rather not get into because it might sound like bragging or something.

You really should not care what people from this generation thinks or don't think about you. If you think it will please Jesus Christ by revealing those other experiences, then do so, and people from this generation will most certainly say you are boasting, or arrogant, or self righteous. But if God is pleased, who cares if they are not pleased?

Now, it's been years since this has happened.
It might be the natural way.
I've heard this from others too.

Anyway, we can't go by our feelings,,,
but by our knowledge of Him...just as you've stated.
Cling to that and be happy you know Him...
that's what I've come to understand.

Amen, that is True.

That is a powerful testimony of selflessness and thank you so much for sharing this. This is a coincidence that I too first came to the Lord in 1974 and could not even count how many times I ran from Him. What I didn't know that He was always loving and patient waiting for me to come back every time. It was the last time I came back to Him in 1997 that I started to have a real relationship and fellowship with Him. It's one of God's greatest promises that He will never leave us or forsake us as He waits patiently.

There are so many stories like yours, that it makes me wonder how anyone could NOT believe in God.

Maybe God allows us to have such nice experiences because He knows one day we may not hear from Him so much and so we have our memories to keep us going.

Dave,
Just an observation from my experiences, coming back into communion with Christ I found that I too was not hearing from GOD, as I did in times past. I learned that God was speaking to me in a totally different way, which I was not paying attention to because I was so fixated on how he spoke in the past to me. This is my belief, but falling away ends a chapter in our walk, when we return God is moving in a totally different way in us, we miss it because we are seeking the "OLD WAY" this is just a thought on what you had said.This is how it was for me but maybe not for you. just a thought. stay true brother!

This is the fourth "Word" of Jesus said from the cross.

Mathew 27:46 NASB
46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?” that is, “MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?”

It is the only "Word" that appears in more than one gospel and is referring to Psalm 22.

But....Is it referring to Psalm 22?
Does it mean Jesus feels forsaken by the Father?
Was He betrayed by His own brethren and is expressing deep grief?

It seems to me that no one truly knows what Jesus meant when He cried out to God.

Opinions?

You try hanging on a cross for nine hours. See what you would say.

God never forsook Jesus as deity can not be separated.
agree not so sure anyone can fully understand why he cried out these words.. only thing i think i understand is God turned his back on his son . to endure the suffering he went through by his stripes we are healed spiritually.. but one thing for certain he did it out of Love Hebrews says it best Hebrews 4
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

1 Corinthians 15:54-56 King James Version (KJV)
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
Romans 5:9-11 King James Version (KJV)
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

that should make any one want to shout PTL

M,
We're discussing the 7 "Words" of Jesus from the cross.
No need to be so insensitive.

Why do YOU think Jesus made this statement?
Have you never thought of it?
Do you believe it was due to physical pain?

it is jewish tradition even to this day to quote a scripture and not to say Psalms 22:1-31

iow when a jew starts quoting the first line everyone knows what you are quoting and joins in

Psalm 22 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Suffering, Praise, and Posterity of the Messiah
To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“The Deer of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David.
22 My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
Why are You so far from helping Me,
And from the words of My groaning?
2 O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;
And in the night season, and am not silent.
3 But You are holy,
Enthroned in the praises of Israel.

4 Our fathers trusted in You;
They trusted, and You delivered them
.
5 They cried to You, and were delivered;
They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

6 But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.

7 All those who see Me ridicule Me;
They [b]shoot out the lip, they shake the head,
saying,
8 “He [c]trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him;
Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!

9 But You are He who took Me out of the womb;
You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts.

10 I was cast upon You from birth.
From My mother’s womb
You have been My God.

11 Be not far from Me,
For trouble is near;
For there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have surrounded Me;
Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.

13 They [d]gape at Me with their mouths,
Like a raging and roaring lion.

14 I am poured out like water,
And all My bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It has melted [e]within Me.

15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.

16 For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They[f] pierced My hands and My feet;

17 I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.

18 They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.

19 But You, O Lord, do not be far from Me;
O My Strength, hasten to help Me!
20 Deliver Me from the sword,
My[g] precious life from the power of the dog.
21 Save Me from the lion’s mouth
And from the horns of the wild oxen!
You have answered Me.

22 I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.

23 You who fear the Lord, praise Him!
All you [h]descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,
And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!
24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from Him;
But when He cried to Him, He heard.

25 My praise shall be of You in the great assembly;
I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.

26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the Lord.
Let your heart live forever!

27 All the ends of the world
Shall remember and turn to the Lord,
And all the families of the [i]nations
Shall worship before [j]You.

28 For the kingdom is the Lord’s,
And He rules over the nations.

29 All the prosperous of the earth
Shall eat and worship;
All those who go down to [k]the dust
Shall bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep himself alive.
30 A posterity shall serve Him.
It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,

31 They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,
That He has done
this.

I just keep coming back to Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?

This may be what God was doing when Jesus was talking all our iniquity upon Himself and in all of the distress Jesus was under just shouted out these words as Jesus knew the Father would never abandon His Son.

We can speculate, but I don't think anyone could know for sure why Jesus spoke those words. It's like what David said in Psalms 22:1 as I would think David would not think God would abandon him in his time of distress.

dont see it as abandon i do see it as type turning his back of allowing . we have to remember Christ knew what was going to happen before it ever happened . possibility of the human side of Christ to under stain distress i really dont know

The Father never abandoned His Son. Even though to the son it might have felt that way. How can i explain it better?

Its like a Son who has been in the presence of his Father in the House since he was born. this son was never in any room, that his father was not there with him. One day the Father separates Himself from the son, and the son finds himself in a bedroom, door shut, and His Father is not in the room with him for the first time in his life. The Father is still in the house, and has not abandoned the son. But for the first time in the sons life, he felt what it was like to be in a room without his Father present with him, and it was NOT a very pleasant feeling, which felt like abandonment, even though the Father never did abandon the son.

DiscipleDave said:

you cant because your not Christ this is my point yes something was going on with in him.. i could use a dozen commentaries and get a dozen different comments

Who told you that i thought i was Christ? Or is that something you believe i think? Are you saying that i can't explain something that i believe better?
i responded to a post that said "God did not abandon his son" This is absolutely True. But the reason Jesus said "Why hast thou forsaken me" was a TRUE statement from Jesus Christ Himself, asking this out loud so that all could hear Him ask it. So for a FACT Jesus felt as if the Father had forsaken Him. Or do you think Jesus was trying to decieve those who heard Him ask that question? Jesus asked that question to HIS Father, because that is what He felt, when He asked it. The Father can't look upon sin. Yes or no? Did Jesus take on all the sins of the world. Yes or no? Therefore when Jesus was dying, (Sacrificed is at the time of death, not the time on the cross) The Father did not look upon Jesus, and Jesus felt that. Even as i tried to explain to you better. If you do not accept what i said that is fine, you don't have to say things like "you can't because your not Christ".

Psalms 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

I never said David probably felt like God was abandoning him. I said I would think David wouldn't think God would abandon him just as with Christ when He spoke those exact words David did. In the case of Christ like I said earlier, deity can not separate itself.

to be honest i really dont care it was on a comment you went on the defense ..im done

Where or when have I ever went on the defense in any topic? I said, just as Jesus in his distress knew His Father would not abandon Him, so the same with David in his distress as per what he said in Psalms 22:1. I used Habakkuk 1:13 to possibly explain why David and Jesus said those words.

your defense i really not going to go through anything like took place with the osas nt verses you can lose salvation so lets start a fresh page so to speak i was only commenting no body really know exactly what Jesus meant by My God my God , in th words of bolts/aka jeff when we dont understand we speculate and for long it is thus saith the Lord . its like when i went to the doctor for a breaking out on my arms and stomach area . i went to the dermatologist they did skin punch done a pathology test . they said it appeared not this maybe this.. then the Bill i told my doctor if you dont know please say i dont know... that word with Christains and bible scripture answers seldom exist... it might prove we dont know :eek2:amen
