but what do you think of Jesus' statement:
"You didn't choose Me, I chose you."

I think it's one of those contextual verses. It's from John 15:16. The first few verses of that chapter show Jesus illustrating that he's the vine and we the branches. Verse 16 is a follow-on verse to that ideal; an authority phrase meant to remind us that despite our various actions, he's still the source of any goodness we express.

It's one of those tricky salvation vs works areas, where we can never claim to earn our salvation, and yet why would God want to give salvation to anyone who does not choose to follow him?

I believe this is why sincerity is the key to successfully interpreting the scriptures. There can often be contradictory themes (like Peter miraculously escaping from Jail why Paul chooses to remain despite the clearly miraculous nature of that event; anyone choosing to use the events in themselves to discern what to do will almost certainly only feel confusion and contradiction when considering those examples).

Whereas, someone who is open and flexible will not see any confusion or contradiction, but rather the ideal that faith should be based on moment-to-moment listening to God as opposed to formulaic events.

Okay, JD, I get your point ... Jesus didn't choose you.
Glad He chose me though!
But, look at it this way ... He can't choose everybody, right?
Then, it wouldn't be special ... if He chose everyone, I mean.

John 15:16 was to those chosen to be Jesus' apostles. I didn't know you were an apostle!

TO BE DEEP IN SCRIPTURE IS TO CEASE BEING CATHOLIC, PROTESTANT, JEW AND CALVINIST

Most BACs consider that John 15 was to all BACs everywhere!
Just like most everything else was for all BACs for all time.
Are you a BAC?

It matters not what "most BACs consider. The fact is that Jesus was speaking to His apostles whom He chose. Stay with the scriptures!

Hi Senior
None of the scriptures you posted tells us HOW we get INTO Christ. Can you be specific?
The role of the Spirit of God. Since Jesus ascended into heaven.
The Father gave us to Jesus.

"I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me.

If you love me, keep my commands. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be IN you.

The Father seeks
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

The Son of Man sows the Good seed the devil, Jesus's enemy, sows the weeds

He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

Different results of the good seed that is sown

While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: 5“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”

When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

9His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,

“ ‘though seeing, they may not see;

though hearing, they may not understand.’

11“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. 14The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.

What’s your point?

Are you a BAC?
You have such a dry sarcasm.
I think you beat me.

Did you ever hear of compression in the N.T.?

John 15:16 might be a compression of time or sayings.

It might well have been to the 12 Apostles.
Compressed with the rest of His teaching/talk.

What’s your point?
what point do you have ? once again we are to warn we are watchmen Ezekiel 18 and 33. that is our job .we are not in the saving business.. we are farmers watchman for christ . we are to be fruit bearers. not fruit inspectors . one plants one waters GOD gives the increase . Jesus will separate the tares at the harvest gather them to be burnt . we need to make sure we are in the faith and we are wheat .church sign reads fishers of men we catch them GOD cleans them
