Tim just suggested a thread for Netflix suggestions, and I thought it was a great idea too! We don't have cable or dish so we use Netflix a lot because it's really cheap and you can watch things on DVD or on your computer or TV (if you have a game console that supports it).

So, what have you watched that you felt would be worth sharing and suggesting to others?

Some of our suggestions are:

Faith Like Potatoes
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
The Prestige
Gifted Hands
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
I Am David
The Island

What about you? :)

Netflix suggestion?

If anyone isn't part of this "no-brainer", be a part of it! I can't believe it when I'm driving by a Blockbuster and I see people still renting from there!

No suggested videos because it's all personal preference, but come on! Two DVD's a month, and it pays for itself! We have a PS3 hooked up and stream all kinds of movies all the time in addition to having movies sent.

Seriously. Who fesses up to paying for DVD's at a rental store?

Sherlock Holmes sitting on the counter in a little red sleeve. :thumb

Sherlock Holmes was pretty good... not like the original, but good :thumb What do you mean only 2 DVD's a month? We get about 1 a week, or sooner if we get it in the mail the next morning. That is if we have our queue stocked up, sometimes we just stream them on the TV. And yes, I can't understand for the life of me why people still go to the movie rentals. One down here in our town just closed though, and I suspect the others will soon follow because Netflix is just absolutely awsome, and only $10 a month! :biggrin

I meant with only 2 dvd's, you're even. Rent more and you're ahead. Add in the streaming and - BlockWho?

Lately I have been watching TV shows with Netflix. I have the plan that lets me have 3 DVDs out at a single time, but I do not think I have ever had all 3 here at the same time because I usually watch a DVD a day so I got a cycle down.

My current TVs I am cycling through are Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, and Eureka.

I have a 360 which I use streaming feature, actually that is almost all I am using my 360 any more! Lately I've been watched the BBC Robin Hood series, its really good and I would recommend it to anyone, currently on season 3. Also going through the new Doctor Whos with my sister. I am almost done with Firefly, which is another really good series (it even has Christianity in it).

In my streaming queue I have The Messenger, which I heard is awesome

Yeah, Tim and I watched all the BBC Robin Hood shows... they were alright at first, but gosh I was glad when it was over :lol Right now we're going through the Lost series, because we didn't watch them when they came out on TV so it's all new to us :)

for a show that has been cancled over three yrs ago, stargate sg1 is still very popular.

Considering it ran for 10 seasons, plus two feature movies, plus two TV movies, plus two NEW feature movies that are still coming I understand why it is still so popular. I have probably seen every stargate, I just wanna watch them all over in sequential order.

And I am also gonna watch Stargate Atlantis, cause I never got into them the first time around. Stargate Universe, though... maybe the best series the Stargate crew has made yet.

universe, blah. thats not the military we dont turn on each other that easily. and btw i dont support the gay rights thing that sgu is pushing. and which two new movies.

sga could have lasted a while longer if they left torri higgelson on the show.

SGU is pushing gay rights?!?! :shame :bigfrown
they have a gay charachter that worked the ioa, its a hint of letting gays be in the service she is trapped on the destiny, see the pilot episode.

I got to confess... I have a guilty pleasure on Netflix. My friend got me hooked to this TV show called Weeds. Now, I do not know why I watch it at all, it has sex, drugs, gays, crime, ect. ect.. I fast forward through the sex and nudity. Now I would not recommend this show to anyone, but for some reason it was a very interesting (for lack of a better word) watch.

In other news...

I just noticed that if you go into Documentaries and than religion you can find some pretty good Christian movies. You need to be careful since a lot are secular or anti-Christian/religion however they have a few good ones. I will get the names of them when I get my xbox turned on

weeds is pro-legalazation of mj. i know that by the name and also by the comments on tv guide and other like things.

Ya I know. Like I said, no clue why I watch it. A friend got me hooked.

Though if you really think it is more along the lines of pro-illegal marijuana, since everyone in it is a drug dealer...

I read an article about 6 months ago that said Netflix agreed to not make movies available for 2 weeks after release for 1 particular studio. Forgot which one. The idea was that they wouldn't pay as much for rights to their movies, and the studio would get more $$$ from people that had to see them ASAP.

I haven't noticed any movies that have been released but not available on Netflix. Either I'm not interested in this particular studio's movies, or it never came to pass.

One thing that does frustrate me is that Netflix has no deal with HBO. I'd love to stream old seasons of some HBO series' like Sopranos, Pacific, Band of Brothers & The Wire like I do some of the Showtime series'. I really would want to stream Band of Brothers! :bigfrown

i like pard got hooked on the sopranos, but i will no longer watch them, its written well. but too much flesh shown and sin.(porn lite)

i have a hard time not lusting as it is.

Yeah, I have to admit the Sopranos are a "guilty pleasure" of mine. I'm a sucker for mafia movies and shows. I've looked away in the spots you're talking about. The story writing was amazing. I don't watch them anymore, since the series is over. But I'm embarrassed to say, I probably would if I could stream it. They had a great run.

Maybe "Sopranos Light" on A&E. :shrug
