New member here and I have a question I'd love to get some thoughts on. I'm a Christ follower of many years. Recently, I was laid off from my job of 23 years due to COVID-19. I found a new job but it pays less than half what I was making. I am in my mid fifties. I know the Lord has promised to meet our needs, and thankfully I am doing basically OK but I constantly worry about having enough resources for my spouse and I to get by on. I know that to worry is basically to doubt God, so how can I stop the worry cycle? I have really been trying to turn the worry over the God when I pray, but it just constantly nags at me. How can I put an end to that worry once and for all? I'd really appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks in advance! God bless all.

Praise God that He had led you yo another job. It's difficult not to worry but God has given us many promises. I have struggled nearly all my life and I have always left it in God's hand. Worry still knocked on the door. Sometimes God has saved me right at the last minute.
I try not to worry about tomorrow and just live one day at a time.
It's not always easy but God will not give us more than we can bear. Living day by day helps to enjoy today or even to get through the day.

Stay close to God, talk to Him often. He knows what you need and He will see you through all this God Bless.

Thank you, Tessa, that is very encouraging. Since I'm a natural worrier I really struggle with this. I like the one day at a time approach. Thank you again!

I would say stop worrying about worry. You are entitled to worry. Don't be ashamed of worry. Christians still worry. They are human.
God can manage miracles. But in his time. Not yours.
The power of patience. The power of long slow prayer. You might not see any light at the end of the tunnel for a while. Days, months,even years....you are being tested now, ........
Please hang in there.

Hi Z, ...welcome to the forum.

Worry, worry, worry, where does that come from?

In my walk with my Lord it's because I don't look at how big He is, ...if/when, I think I have a problem, ...then my god has become a little god, ...so I go and find solace in the Psalms, ...He has measured the Universe with the 6 inch stretch of His Hand, ...He holds all the water of all of the oceans, lakes and streams, ...and it only fills the palm of His hand...

That's a BIG God, ...that's "my" God!

I'm His child, ...and He is responsible for me...

Dear brother, ...if you look at your worry in this manner, ...children don't worry about tomorrow, ...you'll find worry will disappear and be replaced with His Peace, ...not as the world "tries" to give us, but Peace that goes so far beyond our worry, and even way beyond our human understanding and comprehension, ...we walk in faith, ...and His promise to us is, "the just live by faith."

So a storm has come into your life, ...did you expect it?

Imaging looking out the window at a spring storm, what do you see?
Do you just see the cold, gray sky and the rain plummeting down?

Or do you see a bright spring day when the sun's warmth causes a rich carpet of multi-colored wild flowers to point their faces to Heaven?
One of my favorite verses I have learned during my trials, testings, ...the storms in my walk with my Loving Heavenly Father is:

It - came - to - pass!!!

Lord bless and keep you in His Love

Humble Soul, thank you for your kind words. By nature I am very impatient and I have to remember the Lord's timing is likely different than mine. Thank you for the reminders regarding patience and prayer. I sincerely appreciate your response.

Great stuff, Karl. Thank you for sharing your heart and your wisdom. Yes, the Psalms are a wonderful place to start. God bless you brother.

humble soul stole my thunder.
I agree with him.
Stop worrying about worrying.
Some of us just LOVE to worry.....
but it won't change anything and the more
you try to stop the more you worry.

Here are some sayings I like:
Don't cross the bridge till you get to it.
Don't open the umbrella till it rains.

And this:

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.

Hello Zonker1 welcome to the forum. :wave I really like your username as it sort of reminds me of Scooby-Doo since it's very similar to the word Zoinks lol :lol Anyways, as a worrier myself this verse always comes in handy. :)

"For do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." -Matthew 6:34.

Hey I am a worry wart too. I worry about worry, even when everything is going well!
Just want you to know high anxiety is very common. Not to anyway diminish your current problem. Honestly hope it works out soon.
