471-4354 my childhood phone number lol. I remember all that stuff he talks about! I remember when touch tone phones came out. No more rotary dial!

I read that in the early 1900s, that phones(telephone, poles and lines) could be mail ordered from montegomery ward. imagine that is nearly a century ago and so long ago. my county first telephone service was 6 phones in that manner that grew to 200 or more then bell south bought it.

I was with at&t for so long in Colorado. Then they started being weird so I parted ways with them and went to Cricket. ...At&t followed me, and bought Cricket...(I know they did that just to make me mad...)

I haven't dug into local city history or county on that too much but most cities had phone service and some still own that. Gainesville does, lake worth sold theirs to bell south in the early 80's. making phone lines isn't that hard if you have the right wire and a phone that is really simplistic. the army trains us (when it was using them to build simple phone lines with two types of phones to talk to each location) its really what I was talking about. pick up and everyone could hear your ring and listen to the convo. they even if need be( we used one) had a board for an operator, to isolate lines so that only one would ring.

I've always thought that Adam & Eve were telepathic and didn't need phones...

I was talking about not long after graham bell was selling them. I believe it was called graham bell phones.there is a mystery on Okeechobee with that, a reference in a photo from the historic society but nothing online. like my avatar, sooner or later I will find the story. I always do.

Up to 1979 here ,I believe in my county.we didn't have 911 and used a water tower to alert the cops to call the dispatch. Operators were 911.my mom directed the calls.she worked this area.the water tower had a siren ,only the pd,fd,and this plant could activate it.all three within a few hundred feet of it nor more then a third of a mile from it. The older image is what that plant loiked like when it had to have the alarm .it was rather bad looking in my recollections as a boy and the water tower was used as I said .in my life big blue had been the main plant and this a back up.

Scarey thing now is I dont even know my kids numbers. They are all stored in my phone!
 
I was asked the location of the water meters to burger King on us1,the waters ,I answerved are left of the drive thru on us 1.I haven't read the pj route in 9 months .thr old diesel plant meters are electric south by plant on xmfr, no note telling you that.water is front by pipe .I read that one Monday
