Here's all I could at find on youtube. at the one minute mark, you have standing yoga pose. Now add a band to the hip and you have to stretch your hip. it addresses sciatic pain.
 
I'm having to do some similar exercises. I have a knee on one leg giving me trouble and an ankle on the other leg.
When I react to the pain and begin to hobble I need to be able to recover my balance...just like you do.

We ain't kids anymore. When we were young we could fall several times a day and get right back up. Today if I fall I'm injured for weeks...and I'm active and fit.

I imagine it's the same for you. Except you say that you aren't trim or that active normally. So that's probably going to make it more annoying for you. Hey, I get it...I hate all these stupid exercises. They hurt in ways that suck.

But the pain if not getting around at all is going to suck more.
 
He showed me an exercise where I had to balance on one leg and use a stretch band around my hip. It was ridiculously hard for someone like me who is old and overweight. I complained to him. he said " well it's high time you learnt how to balance."
if you can get a different therapist it would be better for you - honestly something is wrong with that guy

competent therapists know how to help you start at the point you are at - incompetent therapists act like this guy

i had a friend who had an incompetent therapist who made her do something that created pain every time she did the exercise - the stupid therapist told her to keep going - guess what? - my friend acquired serious spine/vertebrae damage - the therapist refused to make things right - my friend is now at another therapist who has to help her with the original issue plus now the spine/vertebrae issue

here is a link to an excellent yoga therapist - she had serious health and body issues - she climbed her way back to health using a special type of yoga called healing yoga - it's for seniors - she has several adaptations so everyone has a level they can chose that allows them to do the stretch/strength/pain relief move successfully


if you have pain stop - there is always a move that does the same thing that does not hurt

i had a look. She is good and I have often thought of doing yoga. I watched the one on anxiety too. because our emotions are often connected to our physical problems.
Thanks anyway. Very thoughtful of you. I prefer gentle teachers like this lady.

she is also very knowledgeable

i had some back issues and did her gentle yoga and it set my back straight

i am not a senior - but her stuff seems to work best because she has only healing in mind

i ignore the spirituality she presents - i'm only interested in the physio aspects of her knowledge
