dose that mean to say you can commit adultry becouse you have eternal security God forbid.

FG - Yes, God forbid indeed! But some mistakenly think that those who believe in eternal security feel that they can just go around and do whatever they want - that it's a license to sin. Well, personally I've never heard a single OSAS adherent say that.

every one gets tempted i dont care who you are and some times we all fall in to temptation if you say you have not you are a big lier or God is eather one or the other.

you see since we still on earth we will always have the flesh to battle with.

FG - Amen! And the person who says that it's not enough to simply trust in Christ's work in your place must be relying on his works to help him get into heaven. And if so, as has been asked, how much lying will condemn you? How much sin is too much?

Answer: 0.0000000001 % sin. A single sin will condemn you. So it is not pssible for anyone to live a good enough life.
Thx,

FG

Hello again Jay T
There is no man or men who were ever sinless.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Yes, but is that before conversion, or after ?
Once a person's sins are forgiven....the slate is clean of any past sins, therefore a person is sinless at that point UNTIL, they commit a new sin.
Thereofore Christ says: 'go and sin no more' (John 5:14....8:11).

The Bible says: "Whosoever is born of God ...does not...commit sin", (1 John 3:9).
[quote:bccd5]
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
again, we are refering to past sins, 'BEFORE' ...being born-again.

Only Jesus is sinless.
Yes, and the Bible says that Jesus was our 'example'...that we are to follow his steps...who did no sin", (1 Peter 2:21,22).
Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
[/quote:bccd5]Yes and that is why Jesus said: 'go and sin no more'.....because the righteousness of Christ, is now within us.

Christ said go and sin no more to a woman caught in adultery. He told her to stop practicing adultery.

Peter sinned after his conversion.

Galatians 2:11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

Galatians 2:12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

Galatians 2:13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

Galatians 2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

Why would a person believe that salvation was something they had to keep? You didn't deserve it in the first place. It is a gift.

If the gift was a free gift but you have to work to keep it then it is not free.

Gifts are free. We earn wages. All we can earn is death.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

If we have eternal life and we can lose it then we didn't have it in the first place. That would make God a liar.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Why would the apostle Paul even say this if it was not possible to sin and still be saved?

Romans 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Why would he say not to yield your members as instruments of sin?

Does he say that if we do we will lose our salvation?

No, he dosen't.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

We could sin but we better not.

Look at what he writes next.

1 Corinthians 6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

1 Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

We could commit fornication and grace would cover it but it would be a sin against God and our own bodies. Paul is saying not to join ourselves with sin.

We will all appear before the judgement seat of Christ. We will give an account for our everything we have done in our bodies. We will not lose our salvation but we will suffer loss.

1 Corinthians 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

1 Corinthians 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

1 Corinthians 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Was Jesus lying when he said this?

John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Why would Jesus say they will never perish if all they have to do is tell one lie, lose their temper one time or dwell on lust just once?

I can believe that I am saved by grace which is undeserved through faith or I can believe that I must work my way to heaven by not ever sinning again.

Is there anyone here who understands that the words Satan used on Eve: "You shall not surely die", (Genesis 3:4)...has the same meaning behind: 'Once Saved, Always Saved" ?

Actually, Satan is trying to make us doubt the only thing that can save us. He is asking "Did God really say you have eternal life through faith in His Son"?

The serpent is crafty.

Yes, and the Bible says that, 'to break just one commandment, is to break them all', James 2:10-12)
Peter sinned after his conversion.
Are you sure ?
Better read when Peter was converted.

If we have eternal life and we can lose it then we didn't have it in the first place. That would make God a liar.
No, eternal life is on condition of obedience as per the example of Adam and Eve. They had immortality, until they sinned...that is why the Tree of Life was forbidden to them to have access to, (Genesis 3:22-24).

And just because a person's name is in the Book of life, does not mean it will stay there, as Jesus said in Revelation 3:5.

I can give you many Bible verses, that show there is no such thing as, "Once Saved, Always Saved".

bibleberean answers:

NO, you show me when Peter was converted. He was filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.

Paul wan't even a Christian when Peter was saved.

You don't know what you are talking about.

You tell me when Peter was converted. I want verse and chapter.

The gospel of Christ is "good news".

The gosple of "sin once and you have lost your salvation" is bad news.

Thanks for answering my question. I was making a point. People who believe that they can lose their salvation can never tell you at what point a person loses their salvation or how many sins a person has to commit.

I have no doubt that every Christian has lied since they were saved. I was hoping that Jay T would answer my first question.

I wonder if those who believe they can lose their salvation believe the apostle John when he said this.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

I can't know I have eternal life if all I have to do is sin once to lose it.

How many times can a man be born again?

Obviously only once. So... I feel sorry for people who think Jesus saved them on the condition that they never fall.

Hi there!

We are all sinners. The difference is that Christians are sinners saved by grace. "Saved" being redeemed, not perfected, but a work in progress.

Hi there!

It appears in reading the postings that most people who believe that one can lose their salvation, that salvation is a one-step process...

Salvation is a multi-faceted process from the point of redemption, to believer's baptism, to growing in grace, to increasing wisdom, and on and on.

Psalms 51:1-12 is the example of King David...asking for the restoration of Salvation, 'AFTER' he had committed sin.

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive F154 me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. 9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. 1
0 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right F155 spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Hmmmmmmmm

Does David say...

Wash me again

Cleanse me again

Blot out again

Purge me again

Create me a new heart again

Cast me not away again

so... being saved is reliant upon works and not faith?

The gospel of Christ is "good news".
I agree.
Christians are LawKeepers.
Sinners are LawBreakers.
The gospel of "sin once and you have lost your salvation" is bad news.
The difference is....those who commit known sins....are guilty, and have no salvation anyway....because salvation is 'from' committing known sin.
Sunday worship services are known sin....because they break God's 4th commandment, (Exodus 20:8-11).

Jesus said: "Those who overcome.....I will not blot their name out of the book of life",(Revelation 3:5).
The only thing, that the Christian has to, 'overcome', is sin...in this life.

Thereofore Christ says: 'go and sin no more' (John 5:14....8:11).

FG - Such assertions by Christ were referring to stop sinning in themanner which had put them in the strait they were in before Christ healed them. When the woman caught in adultary as brought before Him in John 8, He said the same thing to her. But He was clearly referring to not committing adultary anymore. Christ was not telling them to "go and completely stop sinning," obviously.

[quote:c9102]The Bible says: "Whosoever is born of God ...does not...commit sin", (1 John 3:9).

FG - Well, do you claim then to have completely stopped sinning? Do Christians not sin at all?

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
again, we are referring to past sins, 'BEFORE' ...being born-again.

FG - Chapter/verse that teaches that this just refers to past sins?

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Yes and that is why Jesus said: 'go and sin no more'.....because the righteousness of Christ, is now within us.

FG - No. This means that we ARE righteous in God's eyes - that we have the very righteousness of Christ imputed to us. Paul quoted Genesis 15:6 where it says that "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned/(credited to his account) to him as righteousness."[/quote:c9102]
