So here's a funny story. This morning I went to church and we had a very powerful message that I just wrote about in the thread; "What Did You Learn In Church Today?" but anyway,.. our pastor this morning told us a very funny story that I wanted to share with everyone. I had never seen him preaching before, but I do believe that he said that he was a Sunday school teacher as well as the leader of a youth group. So he was telling us that his mission is to get young people to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. Now I already know that I won't be able to tell this story as well as he did but I will sure try anyway. So, he was telling us the story about how he took his youth group to an amusement park. He said that he was a huge fan of rollercoasters (and I am too) but he really didn't like the drop rides. So I guess that there was this one ride that raised you into the air and dropped you about a hundred to two hundred feet or something,.. I can't really remember what he said the exact amount was, but he said that at the bottom of the ride they alerted you to when it was time to drop you by counting backwards from three to one. So some of the teens in his group asked him if he wanted to go on it and he refused. When they asked him why and pointed out the fact that he was always trying to get them out of their comfort zone and try new things. He joked by saying that that was different and that it was his job to and that as their leader he didn't have to, but the next thing he knew he was in line for it anyway, and afterwards he found himself strapped inside of it. So he's holding on for dear life as everybody else is just dangling their legs and swinging them back and forth as the ride starts to rise into the air. That's when he noticed that there was a huge net out in front of him and he joked again by saying that he wondered whether people were falling out of it or jumping out of it, but it was really just in case you lost any of your carryon items like cellphones, glasses, etc. So anyway, he found out that you don't hear them counting backwards when you get to the top, so just when he stops looking down and starts noticing the view out in front of him saying how beautiful it is he finds himself being dropped and once again holding on for dear life and screaming on top of his lungs. Lol :lol I knew that I wouldn't be able to tell it as well as he did, it was a lot funnier in person. I still hope that you got a good laugh though. Although this story had a message to it by saying that that's must of how the disciples felt when they suddenly learned of Jesus' death and that He was planning on physically leaving the world and would no longer be with them, I honestly believe that laughter is a gift from God. I truly do. And that's why I'm glad that I go to a church that believes exactly the same thing I do. After all, what Father wouldn't want to hear their children laughing and being happy? :)
