And Spiritually speaking, doesn't scripture say that we are to obey God rather than man? To not forsake the fellow shipping of ourselves together in worship? Uhh, I think it does. :wink

Spiritually speaking, doesn't the scripture call on the Churches to repent? The book of Revelation says yes!

Oh, I know, everybody thinks that they are of the church of Philadelphia, but the fruits of brotherly love are not to be found.

Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe God has a purpose behind this? Perhaps he is not pleased with the worship coming from these churches. What if it is God's will at this time for the churches to be shuttered? Come out of her my people!

Sounds like a lawsuit the county will not be able to win. Sue them, and win. $ is something they understand. If we let them take our religious freedoms away, it won't stop here.

This reminds me of John 20:19 how the Christian Jews had to lock their door on the first day of the week being gathered in the upper room as they feared those other Jews would have them arrested and possibly crucified for being followers of Christ. Not in our country, yet, but many countries like India, Africa, China, etc. etc. the true church of Christ have gone underground in fear of being caught and persecuted to death as many have died a martyr's death. Church's being burned to the ground, Bibles being burned and lives being threatened if they do not renounce Christ and bow down to their gods. We will be seeing more and more of this as time goes by, especially when the son of perdition takes his seat in Jerusalem. Jesus has already warned us of what will take place in the end of days and even now we can see these things come to pass.

Matthew 10:16-28

I can agree with that but not to the point of lock the people up who are drawn to go worship God. That's over the top.

What law is that? They have no leg to stand on from either a Spiritual aspect or a Constitutional aspect. What you seem to not realize is that our country's people have a different set of rules than you are used to over there. Our Constituion and Bill of Rights both speak clearly and tell us that Government can not prohibit the assembling of worship. No law shall be passed, da da da, is what it says. So they can make suggestions but that is all.

And Spiritually speaking, doesn't scripture say that we are to obey God rather than man? To not forsake the fellow shipping of ourselves together in worship? Uhh, I think it does. :wink
I cannot comment on the law in the states, but can comment on spiritual matters.
As Christians we are to show sacrifical love to our neighbours, keeping our neighbours save from an infectious virus by not assembling together would come under that.

Does a Christians right to meet in worship trump every concern for the welfare of others?

if that's the case i best never ,ever go to church or ask anyone to have me over in an allergy state why ?

allergen induced asthma .that can cause a problem.

see we can't go to church ,a church for less then we spend a hardware store ,grocer ,and with less people ,we are only, able to pick who is led worthy to live in this .

I make that choice ,there is No ,its raining ,better not run those utilities ,power plant, water plant please shut down ,no water or power repair ,yes ,I have worked in hail ,flash floods, and lightning.

a true chrustuan in your argument would cancel his power and water and not go to store on person ,or ask for delivery.

there are cases of totally isolated persons catching covid from a ups delivery and Amazon.

Be sensible, hospitals are being over whelmed by civic cases, that is not happening with allergen reactions.
All the hand washing, keepings one's distance and wearing masks and isolation is to protect other people.

How much do you care about those in your community who are vunerable to the virus?
Anyone with breathing difficulties, who has an impaired immune system, who is elderly they are all vunerable.

Do you care about them?

What on man does the Lord require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy and to walk Humbly before your God.

Putting others first is a mark of a Humble person.

There are many infectious diseases, viruses, and other pathogens that kill tens of thousands or more every year. What you're suggesting is that we should not be engaging in any church services or other gatherings for fear that we may inadvertently infect another person if we happen to be infected unknowingly.

The thing is, our societies today have been growing more and more away from taking responsibility for ourselves and closer to passing that onto others and our governments. I believe this is just the opposite of what Jesus taught. Nowhere do we find in Scripture where Jesus taught the multitudes, such as us, that we should put the responsibility on others and government to "protect us" and/or "take care of us." He taught the importance of caring for each other individually. He said, "You, if you want to be perfect, sell all you have and give it to the poor." (paraphrased) If I suspect that I am ill or possibly contagious, putting on a mask is not the best thing to do. The best thing to do is for me to protect others by keeping my distance that I don't spread my contagion around to those in my vicinity.

Besides, our purpose has never been to completely stop the virus from spreading. It has always been and still is to keep the virus from spreading too fast for our healthcare systems to keep up. The idea that we need to stop it from spreading is fear mongering. The fact is, if a vaccine is truly possible and likely in the near future as we are told, then spreading the virus could be the best thing for us because the faster we can develop herd immunity the faster this virus will die off because it will no longer have suitable living hosts to infect. Since 85% of those that contract it will only experience minor symptoms and the remaining 15% are the elderly, particularly those over 70, and those who already have other underlying health conditions and they need to take extra precautions to protect themselves by keeping their distance from others and we need to do likewise around them.

The only reason for the mask mandates is because we do a poor job of taking personal responsibility and expect government to be the responsible party, therefore, our governments enforce the mask mandates.

Not here in the US they aren't.

Enough that I will make it my responsibility to keep a safe distance just in case I am carrying the virus.

How about you? Do you do everything in life in such a way as to not endanger the lives of others? How about obeying the speed limits, tailgating, texting while driving, talking on the phone while driving, eating while driving, adjusting the stereo system while driving, keeping both hands on the wheel while driving, and so on. All of these things endanger your life, the lives of those with you in the vehicle, and the lives of anyone in any vehicle around you, including the children.

Your holier than thou attitude is misplaced.

If I come across as holier than you that is not the intention.

I am reacting to what I see as a selfish attitude that my right to worship is more important than seeking to protect the vunerable in the community.

In the Bible those clinging onto their rights and previlidges were the Pharisees.
They had no regard for the poor. So ' what would Jesus do ' if he were here?

I have got sick bad from sick co-workers and church folk .a cold can and has caused me to stop work and take a day off as asthma is like that for me .

if I'm,sick i refuse to go to church .for that reason .

The fact is, if a vaccine is truly possible and likely in the near future as we are told,

Way back in early March I tried ordering a box of masks from Amazon, it said they shipped... then 3 months later they showed up on my doorstep. Why? I don't know, I heard the federal government confiscated them and stockpiled them.

In late July, I had symptoms and tested positive for COVID. Now the regular antigen test was taking 14 to 21 days to receive the test results. But for $150 a test, I could do the Rapid test and have my results back within 24 hours. Now to go back to work afterwards, I had to produce two negative test results. $150 for a test that was maybe 85% accurate with known false positives, or wait three weeks for your results? What do you do?

They still can't even manage to get efficient testing for the virus.

Well I've been praying for them. I will continue to do so. Perhaps in church! And what else could be more compassionate or humble than praying to our Almighty God for help and mercy to us all?

Spiritually speaking...if we are going to accomplish anything for the Kingdom of God in these days...it's going to be on our knees.

Romans 13:1-2
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

I have heard this scripture quoted so many times from people, from pastors, and from Attorney Generals in condemnation of protesters or those who have no respect for the current occupant of the WH. These wield the scriptures to oppress others, not set them free.

Do you believe the pastor in the OP is excluded from following Romans 13? If and ordinance came down from the governor to limit gatherings and to wear a mask for the public safety, then is not this pastor resisting the ordinance of God?
