Who can or cannot see those two buttons?

Please respond Y or N and please take the poll because I'm too lazy to count. :lol

No need for Mods and Admins to reply. :)

I've seen EDIT and DELETE buttons for every post I've made, but of course not for any other :)

It might also be helpful (if you have the "Problem" to post information about your Internet Browser - mine is Mozilla Firefox 3.5. We can find that information by clicking the "Help /// About" buttons on our browsers.

I don't have them...and I've needed them desperately :o

OOPS. I take that back....I do have them and just used one.

Could you ask Jenkaybean to vote in the poll so I have her in the count? Thanks.

I would appreciate that everyone having this problem post too so we have names in case we have to look at this on a account to account basis.

Thanks. :yes

In the meantime, please preview your posts carefully so that you don't have to worry about editing. :pray

NOW it JUST came back.
HUH!?!? :mad

Someone other than Fem, PMd me about this. I thought it was you, Sparrow. :gah

Seriously! I'm not computer illiterate, far from slow. I've emailed several people for help. Upon my voting in here, it just came back.

The edit/delete buttons will remain for a short time only. It is normal.

For example i cannot delete my first post in this thread because of the posts under it, however i can still edit it....for now.

Yes, but other people have there's ALL the time.

If this is not the case, then we SHOULD be able to go back and edit/delete an old post.

This has nothing to do with the problem, but a post older than like 48 hours can no longer be edited. This keeps people from going into old posts, editing them and thus, possibly disrupting the original flow of the thread.

But it can be deleted, correct? My old posts don't have either buttons

Well, for Jenkaybean and myself it happened immediately after posting. We could not delete our posts. This is a problem. The only thing that should be prevented from changing is the title.

Take for example my posting an answer to Dave in his "Have you ever prayed by candle light with your significant other?" thread

I replied: Not with a significant other, but it would be nice :)

Then Dave changed the title to "Have you ever prayed by candlelight?"

Everyone else is saying yes at my church during the holidays etc etc. Now I look like a weirdo that's not addressing the question.

The title of a thread should definitely not be editable. Members should be able to edit their posts for whatever reason. Then perhaps a message that says "deleted by member" could be put in it's place.
