Are primates your mates?

Even if other primates morphologically similar to human beings are uncovered, this will not mean that they were spiritually the same. Behind the human form and shape is a human mind and soul.

The human person has reflective self-consciousness unique to itself, and it has language, with its grammatical rule-oriented structure.

What is more, humans have religious consciousness and practices; primates do not. All attempts to show physical similarities between primates and human beings as a basis for evolution overlook the gigantic gulf between the animal kingdom and a human being created in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:27).

Is a primate your mate?

They have been.

True, but irrelevant to evolution.

Behind the human form and shape is a human mind and soul.

So it points out in Genesis. Man is, like other organisms, brought forth from the Earth, but God personally breathes into him the breath of life.

The human person has reflective self-consciousness unique to itself, and it has language, with its grammatical rule-oriented structure.

Other apes have rudmentary language as well. This is not what makes us unique in the eyes of God.

What is more, humans have religious consciousness and practices; primates do not.

At least one species is known to have them. And it appears that at least one other did.

All attempts to show physical similarities between primates and human beings as a basis for evolution overlook the gigantic gulf between the animal kingdom and a human being created in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:27).

We are like the other animals, except for an immortal soul. Our "image of God" is in our mind and spirit, not our physical appearance. God points this out in Genesis.

Is a primate your mate?

Being a primate myself, that's pretty much assured. I've always dated within my own species.

There isn't something intrinsically different from a human or ape mind. But what we have is language and free arms. These two differences alone make it possible to synthesize knowledge readily enough, use enough tools, and communicate everything there is to make high intelligence a factor in reproduction.
It results in a gulf because humans can adapt faster to circumstances than the circumstances can force them to adapt genetically.
We are the last in a line of homonid primate species, because we're the smartest out of the bunch and because we're on the move. Other primate species maintain a rough equilibrum with their environments because they aren't able to adapt to other environments readily enough.

Humans adapt much better than apes.

Humans are in many ways different from apes. Physical similarities could easily be circumstancial. I do not dought that God made many creations similar to many others.

Humans are different from most apes by ~2 percent of our genetic makeup. That's VERY close, but still allows for a wide number of differences. But for all intents and purposes a human is simply a very intelligent standing ape. Fossils of apes that were also standing and very intelligent have also been found, these are our ancestors or long lost cousins.

a human being created in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:27).
Can someone explain how human form is in the likeness of God when God is a non-physical entity? To be in his image wouldn't He have had to be a humaniod?

Are humans the only creatures which are meant to have a soul? So all animals regardless of intelligence just cease to be once they die? Surely animals have feelings, personality and intelligence, so what does our soul do that is different from an animals life?

Wertbag: Why do you make the assumption that God wouldn't have or want an image?
You also delved into the idea of "souls". I personally don't currently have a common veiw of it held by christians that I'm aware of. Humans are very different from animals, but animals too are made from the same stuff, I understand the dought of some people. Anyway, I don't think the question is "Do I have a soul?" I think the question is: "Am I a soul?"
You could start a topic about that.

They have many differences. Many not physical. Thats a reason I don't believe humans are apes(outside of classifications for simplification purposes). Plus, humans have never been seen evolving from their so-called "cousins". its an assumption, but atheists have to call it fact because they aren't allowed by the religion to make assumtions. :lol:

:Fade-color I know this is an old question,but I just read it. Jesus Christ is the physical part of God in human form.
You have a body, a mind ,and a spirit.
Why would you think that God couldn't?

Jesus says "God is spirit." I think he knows what he was talking about. Either we can conclude that it is the eternal Word(a spirit), and not the created Jesus, which is the third member of the Godhead or we can conclude that Jesus was implicitly declaring that he was not God.

the alpha & the omega

:B-fly: Yes,thats my point,Jesus knows all,and he is the alpha & the omega,and the creator of all the earth and of all creation.
When you see Jesus you have seen God. We cannot see God in ALL his glory,it would kill us,but we know we can see him in Jesus our Lord.
I cannot see your spirit and you cannot see mine. I can only see your body if you were here in front of me. Is it your body that I am communicating with or your mind?
Do I have to see your spirit to know that you exist?
Jesus was with God from the very beginning.
You have a body,mind and a spirit,you are 3 in 1. We are made in God's image. We know the saints who die in the tribulation will have bodies because they will wear white robes.
Gos is a Spirit,he is the Holy Spirit. God is also The Father,He is The Father of all the Living,He's the Intelligence.
Mind= the Father
body= Jesus Christ
Spirit = The Holy Spirit

Not complicated.

I fail to see the relevance here.

Though I do know necromancy when I see it. Stop bringing up ancient topics, blue.

Do you think God cannot be in human form? :angel:

That question has no meaning to him. He is an atheist.

:B-fly: I was trying to get his focus on what the topic was.
