[__ Prayer __] Purse stolen

I just wanted to ask for prayer for what happened to me this weekend. Someone broke into my car and stole my purse and wallet which contained my entire life (addresses, social security numbers, pictures...everything). I was somewhere I shouldn't have been and life in general has been really rough lately. I feel this is punishment for a being a bad person and making bad decisions. I know God doesn't work that way but that's how I feel.

I pray that He has mercy on me and that my purse and wallet is returned with most if not all of the contents. I also ask for prayer that I have peace of mind that in the end He is in control and has the power to make things better no matter the outcome.

If you haven't already, cancel all credit cards, call your banks, etc. You may need to join one of those monitoring things that will notify you and protect you from identity theft, so that if the criminal tries to use your SSN or ID then it will pop up a notification. Stealing your purse is one thing, but in an age of identify theft it can ruin the rest of your life.

This thread should serve as a cautionary tale for everyone who reads it to not leave anything inside your vehicle. Our vehicle was broken into a few weeks back as well, and my mom's laptop computer, as well as everything in her computer case, was all stolen. This was in broad daylight, outside of a cracker barrel restaurant during a lunch rush, and anyone who knows cracker barrel, knows that there are dozens of people standing around outside who can witness such an act. The cracker barrel also has cameras all over their parking lot, because they (apparently) have vehicles broken into about once a month. The day that our car was hit, another car was also hit. The thieves, on camera, broke into 2 vehicles across the lot from each other and robbed them in a matter of three minutes. They had also stolen a license plate from the hotel next door prior to hitting the cracker barrel. The other vehicle that they broke into had a car alarm, and the manner that they broke in never triggered the alarm, nor did they disable it.

Hi Rachel~

I believe that God has brought you understanding about "where" He desires you walk~ and I am blessed by His concern for you. How He loves you~ I have had some tough lessons myself lately, but the Bible tells us He only disciplines those who are his children.

"My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives." Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:5b-6 NKJV :biggrin

As you are receiving this correction and turning to obedience may your life be filled with the grace of our Lord in all things...

Especially, I request that our Heavenly Father grant you a worthy walk and opportunity to give Him praise for this work of correction... I also am asking our Lord to protect and provide security for your life in more abundant things even than in your lost documents~ though I am also asking for these to be returned to you in the great grace He provides as well. May we be enabled to give Him praise for everything!

Bonnie~
