Whos the one thats really racist? When a black man says To a white is it because I'm black. Isnt that just as racist (in the way that some blacks think all whites are racist.) as a white man hating blacks.

Many whites are over racism yet many blacks still hate whites for their past. But whites arent perfect either. Many of them arent racist they just hate blacks :-? :biggrin My main question is who and why cant people get over it. A white man that hates blacks is just as bad as a black man that hates whites what makes people think there the exeption to the rule?

:o ??? Please explain that! :-?

Seems to me like you are unable to get over it yourself.

As far as the Poll goes I would vote "All of the above"

I would say that it all depends on the circumstance and why the person is making the remark.

I have seen films made by Black directors using that statement so dose that mean Black People are racist to them selves.

In some cases it could be a legitimate concern. It could also be a hollow excuse for not achieving. So it would probably depend on the circumstances.

Blacks are just as racist as whites. It is ingrained into their way of thinking from childhood that the white people wronged them.
It's called unforegivness and causes them to have a complex.
Whites also pass their racism of blacks to their children and the cycle goes on and on.
I dont have any prejudice what so ever against the color of ones skin, they are in no way inferior.
However I have to admit there is some culteral differences that really bother me sometimes.

Yes its usually a racist statement, its accusing someone of being racist when theres no good reason to think so. Its stereotyping people, its pretty much abusive (which is the main reason its used) and it drags any conversation into the mud within seconds.

I raised this point on another discussion: Knowing what words will be insulting can often be quite hard. I had a discussion on another forum where I used the word Jap. Its commonly used locally as an abbreviation to Japanese, and no insult is intended (eg Jap import car, Jap resturant etc). The majority of the Japanese I've talked to have no problem with the term as they understand the harmless intent to it, but the older generation remember WW2 where the term was used as an insult by the allied forces, and they still consider it in that way.
Once I understood this I stopped using the term, but I can see how easy it is for an innocent term in one country to mean something completely different elsewhere.
The N word for black people is another strange one, one of the common phrases used is "hows it going my N**gers?", yet if the exact same phrase is used by a white person with no bad intent it will still be considered insulting.
Then theres the PC police, the completely up tight people who take any use of any word to be an instant sign that you are a KKK member and should be publicly brought to justice for your vast evil. These rabid PC people annoy almost everyone and do nothing for race relations.

Actually I was trying to point out that some whites are also racist. I probably just worded it poorly :sad . many people (not just whites) Hate various races for reasons but fail to realise they have become racist.

My mother is black and my father is white (which makes me both). Is it really possible for me to be racist against myself? My family is half black and half white so wouldnt it be impossible for racism to be passed down. Theres a fine line between fun hurt and hate.

I am a white male in the South and here is a problem that bothers me in the U.S.
  • Various ethnic groups separate themselves from the rest. What I mean by this is take for example blacks. The term "African-American" is used to describe someone of this color. How many blacks are actually from Africa? We have "Italian-American" and "Asain-American" and so on.
Why can't we just be AMERICANS? Why must we distinguish ourselves from others? Why not just be an American that is white or black or whatever?
  • I will not use the term "African-American" or any such term. If one comes to this country from another and becomes a citizen then they are simply an American like the rest of us.
When we stop using these terms and realize that we are all Americans and strive to treat each other with the GOLDEN RULE, then this country can be strong and a much better place to live.

I have to agree with you, Collier. I do not like the term African American to identify blacks. First it implies dual citizenship. It also could mean the whites from South Africa or the Egyptians.

I am ok with "people of color." I think there should be an equivalent word like Caucasian. Basically if Negroid were not an offensive word, it would work. However, since that word has too much hatred in its past, maybe a new word should be invented.

Racism will always exist as long as people make distinctions between skin color.

A Miss Black America contest is racist. Just as a Miss White America would be.

You're lucky I don't launch into a polemic in patois right now.

Many whites are over racism yet many blacks still hate whites for their past.
That's because whites can be racist without noticing it. Black people are discriminated against in general, but in a way that is less invasive than it was so that people don't really see it happen unless they're black. It creates a culture of fear of authority when authorities are always looking out for you, waiting for you to do something. It's not surprising when black people reciprocate.

Economic segragation has kept a great deal of the black community in a situation where they don't know many white people who aren't cautious or suspicious of them. The media has created an image of black culture, so called hip-hop culture, based on the artistic expressions of this community, that has created new stereotypes of blacks as gangstas and so on.

So there is a divide: black stereotypes in the media keep a lot of whites from being able simply trust black people; white stereotypes proliferated by a police force that profiles keep black people from being able to not see whites as racist.

Hey how did this shift to the USA? :-? Wouldnt a miss afghanistanian contest or zimbabwian of the year be just as racist. Is racism an isue in the U.S.A or are there problems elsewhere. Does anyone from a neutral corner have anything to add?

I'm also interested to see who thinks the poll statement is racist is it black people as well as whites?

NO, I am not prejudice per/say! Let me explain? We have RIGHTS on the front burner continuously, huh? Is that a bad thing? NO.

We have equal rights, human rights, racial rights, women rights, homosexual right & on & on.
Now: what is my beef? It is when these 'Rights' are ALL lumped together! [Colored issues & homosexual issues] on the same 'legislative' agenda as an example. One is surely mostly right, and the other 'open one' has past laws to deal with that of [open] homsexual law breaking.

And yes, I left one right out until now, huh? that of Religous Freedon as a right. (you know, hate laws & censorship)
Now, once more.. can Christians keep any of these above rights 'yoked together' when passing legislation? Yet, most professed Christian's are as silent as the dead.

Hi again,
you sound like a war hero I know of, anyhow it seems that he believes in some kind of freedom?? Yet, still it also seems that there are others who are also war heroes who do not believe his war record is honest? And both are seen on TV with their add's. The first war hero wants to be president of the USA. Now I hear that he is trying to get these other guy's adds removed with legal maneuvers?

That too is confusing, huh? Fighting for freedom with majority rights only? Hay, I bet the guy tries to gather together in a lump sum aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall of these other rights, huh? gay, women, race, labor, religous, with a.. no body can do the job that he can do?
Seems that this is just whsat the other side is accused of?

Whatever? :robot:
