There is something I am confused with. When it says we will reign in the kingdom with Christ for 1000 years, isn't the kingdom they are referring too, in fact HEAVEN?? Why are we getting heaven and the new earth confused? When the righteous are reigning with Christ for the first 1000 years, Satan is still on this old earth. He is tied up but he still exists. The kingdom in which we reside HAS to be heaven!! No?

I'm a little confused about the old earth, heaven and the new earth between vs 7 and vs 8. If Satan is deceiving the nations, is he deceiving the righteous also? Why are the righteous reigning with Christ on an earth that in time, Satan will be released again??? Where and when does this new earth occur? Do we at anytime reign in Heaven with Christ? Was Heaven not meant for people, but just for Jesus? Blessings.

good luck with finding a definite answer. im amil and while lean that way . every time i ask i learn.

i have got some studying to do on on sheol in depth and also the idea of the temple mentioned in the next verse. an elder says jesus reigns from that temple on the millennium. i may not buy it but the imagery and what i learn wont hurt. a humble suggestion. the more you read and ask the more you will come to say the church doesn't know. i have read three different commentaries on this chapter and none are the same.

barnes, and Clarke and one other.

Urk to add to your confusion .. Not every person , teacher, Bible scholar, dude in the pew believes the word 1000 to be a 'hard' number....

Think about it though. If Satan is still alive, even though he is tied up, then this earth is still considered a fallen world because of Satan. Why would we reign with Christ in a fallen world?

thus why i don't buy the premil teaching of today because of the fact that the church cant be removed and or the law can return.

Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

These guys understood the Kingdom...
Act 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Will this righteousness and peace occur on the old earth, new earth or heaven?

it will occur at the last day, when the lord returns and removes the wicked from the earth.

that is when righteous will have full reign on the earth, imho.

No, I'm talking about the first 1000 years, not the rest of eternity. Not when will it occur, but WHERE? The first 1000 years will occur on the old earth, heaven or the new earth?

Psa_45:6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

Psa_145:13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

Isa_9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isa_9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Do you not see Paul and Silas were in His Kingdom 2000 years ago His kingdom is from henceforth even for ever

First of all the book of Revelation has added alot of confusion to scripture. I agree with Reba that '1000' years may not be a 'hard' number. There is alot of symbolism and allegorical language in Revelation. It was one of that last books to be canonized and accepted as inspired scripture. The recorded words of Jesus never spoke of a 1000 year kingdom on Earth while Satan is bound and waiting to be released again. To put it simple he said he was coming back to give eternal life to his children and judgment to the children of darkness. We are not to reign in Heaven with Jesus but we are to inherit the Earth...the meek shall inherit the Earth. I am not completely sold any more on this idea of a literal 1000 reign of Christ on this Earth while the children of darkness still live on it and then at the end of the 1000 years Satan is released to lead the children of darkness again. It is of my humble opinion that the book of Revelation should not take precedence over the Gospels or the Epistles of Paul.:)

Are we skipping over Revelation 20:4? and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Where is this place that we reign? Not believing in Revelation is saying that Jesus was unable to predict the future, must I tell people about Jesus predicting that Peter would deny him three times.

Rom_5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Question: "Why is God going to release Satan after the 1000 years?"

Answer: Revelation 20:7-10, “When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

As we read these verses, we wonder, “Why will God release Satan at the end of the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ?” First, we must admit that there are some biblical questions which we cannot answer this side of glory because God has chosen to reserve some mysteries to Himself (Deuteronomy 29:29, Romans 11:33-36). Yet, as believers, even if we cannot always understand something about God's Word, His will, or His ways, we can be sure that He remains ever faithful, true, and trustworthy, and in light of that our job remains to obey what we do understand as quickly, fully, and well as we are able. Even if we might not be able to answer why God releases Satan, we can suggest some possible reasons and motivations, based on an understanding of the entirety of the Word of God.

At the beginning of the Millennium, only believers will be alive (Revelation 19:17-21), some who live through the Tribulation Period, and some who come back with the Lord at His second coming. It will be a time of peace unparalleled in history (Isaiah 2:4; Joel 3:10; Micah 4:3). Jesus will be ruling on the throne of David, imposing a benevolent theocracy on all of His creation. Jesus will ensure that everyone has every need fulfilled, while not tolerating the sin so prevalent in today's society (Psalm 2:7-12; Revelation 2:26-29; 12:5; 19:11-16). We can only imagine such a time of “heaven on earth."

The believers who live through the Tribulation will be mortal. They will live and repopulate the earth during the Millennial Kingdom. Without the devastation of sin taking its toll, we can imagine the population increase during the Millennium will be enormous, almost incomprehensible. All those who are born during the Millennium will enjoy the benefits and blessings of Christ's reign on the earth, but they will still be born with a sin nature, and they will still have to freely repent and believe the Gospel, personally choosing Christ as Savior and Lord.

Yet, at the end of the Millennial Reign, Satan is loosed and is able to deceive a vast multitude to follow him in one final rebellion against the Lord of glory and His saints! It seems that the further humanity gets from the end of the Tribulation and the start of the Millennium, the more they will "take for granted" how good they have it, and some may even harbor doubts about the goodness of God. Even though the number who rebel with Satan are said to be "as the sand of the sea" (Revelation 20:7), they may still be a minority compared to the number who do not rebel. It will still be a large number of souls who join Satan. Undoubtedly, one of the primary reasons God gives us this picture of what will happen in time is to demonstrate the deep-seated sin nature inherent in all of humanity (Jeremiah 17:9).

Additionally, God is trying to tell us something about His nature as displayed during the Millennium. His grace and goodness will be on display continually. But at the end of the 1000 years, He will have zero tolerance for rebellion. When it happens, He will show no mercy and offer no "second chances.” At that time He will be quick to judge, and the final rebellion of Satan and sinful man will be over in a flash of fire. After this, the final judgment of the dead takes place (the Great White Throne Judgment, Revelation 20:11-15). Eternity can thus begin with every aspect of sin gone for all time.

Finally, God is trying to reinforce some very important lessons concerning Satan himself, especially for believers. First, that he has been and always will be the enemy of humanity. As God has fixed His love on us, Satan has for us a special hatred. Ever since Satan's fall (Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28), he has been the adversary of believers, and he is aptly described as the ultimate deceiver of mankind (John 8:44; 1 John 2:22). All he can give or promise man is death and destruction (John 10:10a). Satan is also shown here to be a truly defeated foe, and his ultimate doom is certain, along with the doom of all who follow him. God is trying to remind us that Satan is a created being who is powerless before Him (2 Corinthians 12:7). All this should encourage believers today to take God at His Word concerning our position in Christ with respect to the devil (Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Corinthians 4:1-7; James 4:6-8; 1 John 2:15-29; 1 John 4:1-3), especially as we remember this grand truth: "...greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

Earth. Remember? Jesus said the meek shall inherit...what??...right the Earth.

Question: "Why is God going to release Satan after the 1000 years?"

No, that's not the argument. The argument I'm trying to get across is WHERE, NOT WHEN OR WHY. WHERE will we reign with Christ for a thousand years in Revelation 20:4? the old earth, heaven or the new earth?

God is trying to tell us something about His nature as displayed during the Millennium. His grace and goodness will be on display continually.

So, what are you saying here. The first thousand year reign with Christ will be on the old earth? Do you mean mortal or immortal? Repopulate the earth?? What?? Are you saying there will be sexual intercourse after our resurrection from Hades?

Grappler, when you say earth, do you mean old or new? Wouldn't Christ wait for us to inherit the earth after Satan is thrown into the lake of fire? When Satan is gone, only then will Christ renew the earth. No? The only logical place left to reign is Heaven, No?

Think about it though. If Satan is still alive, even though he is tied up, then this earth is still considered a fallen world because of Satan. Why would we reign with Christ in a fallen world?

I also would like to add this, where will the Christians that are still alive being caught up in rapture be sent too? When the rapture occurs, does Jesus take his people that are still alive to Heaven or Hades grave? If it's Hades, then why would he kill his people and send them to the grave? It HAS to be Heaven!!

Why would Christ come from heaven with all the saints to earth and resurrect the dead and "catch up" those who are alive and remain, only to make a U-Turn and go back to heaven.

"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. Matthew 25:31

and again -

34 You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. 35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

Key Phrase -
the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found.

44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 45 Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold--the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure." Daniel 2:44-45

Key phrase's -

And in the days of these kings...

...it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms.

These kings, which are represented by the ten toes, refers to the 10 kings of:

The ten horns are ten kings Who shall arise from this kingdom. And another shall rise after them; He shall be different from the first ones, And shall subdue three kings. Daniel 7:24

and

The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. Revelation 17:12

also described in Revelation 12:3

And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.

... as anyone can see from the scriptures, these 10 kings are yet to be revealed, as they are awaiting for their kingdoms which are being formed in these last days. These will reign for one hour with the beast.

It is during the time frame when these 10 kings are reigning, that The God of Heaven will set up a kingdom on earth that will never be destroyed. This kingdom will fill the whole earth.

The was the original intent of the Lord when He spoke to mankind in the garden of Eden when He said -

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

These were the first words He spoke to mankind and His mandate has never changed.

I say mankind because, all of the citizens that would ever be, were contained in Adams loins.

What God said to Adam and Eve was meant for all of mankind.

Furthermore we see that no trace of the kingdoms of this world will ever be found again.

The Stone that was cut out without hands struck the image on the 10 toes, reveals that the 10 toes, which represent the 10 kings, must be manifest first for the Stone to be able to strike them.

Manifest, meaning "in a position of reigning as a king".

The 10 kings are not human.
