We’re not saved yet …
for salvation is a process “with fear and trembling” (Phil 2:12).

Warnings about losing eternal life
••• Mark 9:43 “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall
never be quenched”
••• Luke 9:23-25 “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it (eternal life), but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost (eternally)?”
••• John 12:25 “He who loves his life will lose it (eternal life), and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” Also Matt 16:25-26, Mark 8:35-37

Warnings about gaining eternal death
••• Romans 6:16-23 “… you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether (slaves) of sin leading to (eternal) death, or (slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness … For when you were slaves of sin … the end of those things is (eternal) death. … For the wages of sin is (eternal) death …”
••• Romans 8:13-14 “For if you live according to the flesh you will die (spiritually); but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live (eternal life). For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
••• Galatians 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”
••• 1 Timothy 6:9-10 “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into may foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil … Let them (rich Christians) do good, that they may be rich in good works … that they may lay hold on eternal life.”
••• Hebrews 10:36-39 “ ‘Now the just shall live by faith; but IF anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.’ But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.”
••• James 1:12-16 “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of (eternal) life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him … But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth (eternal) death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.”
••• Revelation 2:11 “He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.

Who is an overcomer? >> “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Revelation 3:21)
••• Revelation 21:7-8 “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Jesus is talking about anyone who is a habitual (unrepentant) sinner!

Warnings about being shut out of heaven
Mark 9:47 with Matthew 25:34-46 prove the kingdom of God is analogous to heaven.
••• 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”
Gal. 5:19-21 and Eph. 5:3-6 are other “sin lists” about keeping people out of heaven.

Warnings about being shut out of the New Jerusalem
••• Revelation 22:14-15 “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates of the city. But outside are the dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.”

Warnings in 3 of the many conditional “IF” verses
••• 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel … by which you are saved, IF you hold fast that word which I preached to you - unless you believed in vain.”
••• 2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourself to see IF you are in the faith, unless you are disqualified.”
••• Hebrews 3:14 “For we have become partakers of Christ, IF we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.” Also see Heb.10:39 above.

Those who belong to Jesus were drawn to Him by Father God (John 6:44).
But, if they fail to remain in Jesus and produce fruit, they will be destroyed!

••• John 15:1-10 “I am the true grapevine, and My Father is the gardener. He (Father God) cuts off every branch of Mine (Jesus) that doesn’t produce fruit, … Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. … Anyone who does not remain in Me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. … Remain in My love. When you obey My commandments, you remain in My love, just as I obey My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.”

4 times in John 14, Jesus says,
“Those who love Me will obey My commandments.”

The only thing i would change in what you said would be to substitute one of the above verses for this verse.

1Jn 1:7 But IF we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The Blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin IF we are walking in the light and not in darkness.

Then one looks at what Jesus did for those he loved and had chosen and you would have me believe that Jesus's love, his power, his care, his hold on those who he has made HIS.
Is so weak that you or I can throw it off in a whim and abandon him.

I know this. If Jesus had not saved me i would not be a Christian. That if Jesus did not hold on to what little faith i have. I would not be a Christian.
i trust in Jesus for my salvation and for the promised hope of eternity with him.
Solely because Jesus is the one ho hangs on to and will fulfill everything.

This is a rhetorical question so it is not intended for you to reply but to give you pause for thought.

How far does your trust in Jesus go? In other words, do you just trust Him for your salvation or do you trust Him 100% for everything in your life? I'm thinking of Matthew 19:16-22, Mark 10:17-27, and Luke 18:18-23. Does your life reflect Jesus in everything you say, do, and think? Is there anything of the world that you still hold on to?

s there anything of the world that you still hold on to?

While we life we are in the world, breathing its air, drinking, eating, looking, listening and seeking to serve God.

We cannot remove the world from us, in fact we are told not to, but to serve in the world and to not hold on so hard to the things of this world.

Salvation is so momentous that it is all of Jesus.
Do we add to it. Well look at the walls of a house with young children. You'l see how there 'art work' is improving the walls. Our 'work' improves salvation by the same extent.

... you would have me believe that Jesus's love, his power, his care, his hold on those who he has made HIS ... Is so weak that you or I can throw it off in a whim and abandon him.
Brother, your faith and trust in Jesus is really wonderful!
However, part of your trusting should be that He will warn you
of potential problems, IF you fail to your part in your salvation
process, such as co-operate with the precious Holy Spirit.

Which is to say ... there are many dozens of instructions and
warnings in the NT for the believer to be aware of and to follow.

I think those warnings, along with providing guidance, also serve to show us where we are truly at. Like the 10 commandments. They not only serve as a guide toward righteous living, but also to show us how sinful we really are. I believe that is in part why Jesus addressed them as He did in His Sermon on the Mount.

In a nutshell God says, "You think you are good? Pay attention to what I will show you." Then He goes on to give us the 10 Commandments and likewise, Jesus, expounds on them even further with things like, "You've heard the law not to commit adultery, but I say if you even so much as think lustful thoughts you are guilty of adultery." and so on.

Amen to that WIP. When I started studying the bible I saw two people who were Jesus and myself. What a contrast that was, and still is. The fight continues and always will as we are still in the flesh. Can anyone say they are without sin? No!
But as pointed out God is full of grace and we have to carry on with the battle and cling on to that precious hope.

Mt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

So true.

Thank God for His mercy and grace and patience towards us.

If He were not for us, we would have no chance.

Thank you Heavenly Father for your precious Son.

The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.

Sorry didn't see this earlier.

We are saved through and by Jesus.
We do not earn or deserve any part of salvation.

The verses warning about falling away etc should be read with this inmind and with the knowledge that our lives glorify God or shame God.

Jesus did His part to save us 2000 years ago, on this cross.

How do we appropriate the salvation He paid 2000 years ago, for ourselves today?

IOW, what must “we do” to be saved.

And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Acts 16:30-33

For those of you who care to research it out, you will find that
true saving belief includes:
enduring faith, enduring faithfulness, enduring trust,
and enduring obedience.

This is part of the process of sanctification unto holiness,
without which no one will see the Lord.

Yes, salvation is a process to be realized at the end of life.

The final test for us now at the very end of the age ...
DO NOT SUBMIT TO TAKING THE MARK OF THE BEAST
or you will end up being thrown into the Lake of Fire
(Revelation 13 and Revelation 14).

Yes believe means, trust and commit (submit) to obey.

Bible dictionary’s, lexicons, and study guides are a good place to start, but are not necessarily the final say on how a biblical word is defined.

Believe: - pisteuō Strongs # G4100 - verb

The KJV translates Strong's G4100 in the following manner: believe(239x), commit unto (4x), commit to (one's) trust (1x), be committed unto (1x), be put in trust with (1x), be commit to one's trust (1x), believer (1x).

I. to think to be true, to be persuaded of, to credit, place confidence in
A. of the thing believed
i. to credit, have confidence
B. in a moral or religious reference
i. used in the NT of the conviction and trust to which a man is impelled by a certain inner and higher prerogative and law of soul
ii. to trust in Jesus or God as able to aid either in obtaining or in doing something: saving faith
iii. mere acknowledgment of some fact or event: intellectual faith
II. to entrust a thing to one, i.e. his fidelity
A. to be intrusted with a thing

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:36 NKJV

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:36 NASB

It is noteworthy to understand that unbelief and disobedience are the same Greek word and are used interchangeably in the Bible based on translation.

Example: Unbelief - Disobedience

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Hebrews 4:6 KJV

Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, Hebrews 4:6 NKJV

The word “believe” as it relates to Christ and His gospel, commandments and doctrine should be understood as follows.

Believe - Trust, commit; submit to obey
