The spiritual Realm has both good and evil spirits. Some of us are aware of them and some are not but you can and should become aware of them. They are always around a Child of God. Either helping or trying to hurt us.

We are engaged in a spiritual warfare - Ep 6:1 The battle is taking place in "heavenly places" (the spiritual realm)

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Pet 5:8, NIV)

If you don't believe evil spirits are out to get you, you need to do a Bible study on this subject. The Christian is the enemy of the evil spirits that prowl around looking for us. They will use you if you are not careful. Big egos, jealousy, desire for wealth or fame, envy,....just open a door for them.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Eph 6:12, NIV)

Read that again...."Against the spiritual forces of evil" Evil spirits. They do exist and if you don't become aware of them, they will lead you away from God. Satan can do that by putting bad thoughts into your mind. Look at this:

"Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel. So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops, "Go and count the Israelites from Beersheba to Dan. Then report back to me so that I may know how many there are." (1 Chron. 21:1-2, NIV)

In 1 Chronicles 21:1-2, King David is said to have been incited by Satan to take a census in opposition to God's will. Apparently, Satan goaded David with pride in his "own" accomplishments such that he wanted to take a census to measure the extent of his greatness. Perhaps Satan goaded David in response to David's own stumbling into self-pride. Either way, the message is clear that Satan introduced a wicked idea into David's mind.

Similarly, Judas Iscariot is said to have been prompted by Satan to betray Jesus (John 13:2). With all the other disciples and Jesus Himself in the room with him, Judas must have gotten this prompting in his mind. Otherwise, Satan would have had to expose himself or his plan to the others.

A third example is Acts 5 where Peter confronts Ananias over his inability to be truthful about his gift to the Church. Satan is said to have filled his heart with selfish motives (Acts 5:3) tempting him successfully to lie.

Each of these passages is clear. Satan and his band of fallen angels can indeed introduce thoughts into our minds. While this is troubling without a firm grasp of your identity in Christ, Scripture does not present the demonic with abilities in regard to reading your thoughts. God alone is said to know the inner thoughts of man (Jer 17:9-10; John 2:24-25)."

Thank God, he cannot read our thoughts even though he can put thoughts there.

------------------------------------------But
Thank God there is also a Spiritual realm of angels who fight for us. They are the messengers of God and are sent to do his bidding for his Saints. Maybe you don't know they are there because you don't see them, but they are. You may not be aware of the help, the standing in the gap, they do for you, but they are there.

"Angels were very active throughout the Old Testament, including at The Destruction Of Sodom, announcing the birth of Isaac to Abraham and Sarah, serving Jacob (Genesis 28:12, 31:11, 32:1, 48:16), Moses (Exodus 3:2), Joshua (Joshua 5:13-15), Gideon (Judges 6:11-40), Samson (Judges 13), Elijah (1 Kings 19:5-8), Elisha (2 Kings 6:14-17), Daniel (Daniel 6:22), destroyed the Assyrian army that had surrounded Jerusalem (2 Kings 19:35)

Angels were directly involved and present in the events in the life and crucifixion of Jesus Christ: They foretold His birth to Mary (Luke 1:26-37) and Joseph (Matthew 1:20-21), announced what He would be named (Matthew 1:21), directed their flight to Egypt to escape Herod (Matthew 2:13,20), served The Lord after His Temptation (see Go Ahead, Jump!) (Matthew 4:11), at Gethsemane on The Fateful Night (Luke 22:43), rolled away the stone at The Garden Tomb (Matthew 28:2), announced His resurrection to the women (Matthew 28:5-7), were present when He appeared to Mary of Magdala (John 20:11-14)

Angels are just as active in the New Testament. They were directly involved with the progress of the early Church: an angel rescued Peter from prison (Acts 12:7-9), struck Herod dead for blasphemy (see The Herods) (Acts 12:23), directed Cornelius (Acts 10:3), was with Paul (see Saul Of Tarsus) when he was shipwrecked on Malta (Acts 27:23)

Angels will be instrumental in the events of The Return Of Jesus Christ: A great number of them will appear with Him (2 Thessalonians 1:7), when they will gather His elect (Matthew 24:31). They will be like reapers (Matthew 13:39). They will separate the righteous from the wicked (Matthew 13:41,49). Angels will carry out many of the events of the end-time The Seven Seals."

I would also add that the mind is also a battleground. The world of the senses.

Thus we need to avoid all sensuality!

A little different view than what you present------
  • Isa 54:16 "See, it is I who created the blacksmith
who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work.
    And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc;
God created Satan, the spirit of evil to 'work havoc'. Satan goes no further than God gives him the thought to go. To illustrate ---

  • 1 Sam 19:9 But an evil spirit from the LORD came upon Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand. While David was playing the harp,
10 Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear, but David eluded him as Saul drove the spear into the wall. That night David made good his escape.
Paul had to deal with this, and this is what Paul has to say.

  • 2 Cor 12:7 To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.
Take a step further. Jesus told Pilot ---
  • John 19:11 "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above;" ...
Created by God for a specific purpose, Satan has his work to do, as the scriptures indicates. However, we are not left to the dictates of the evil one, as thought the Devil can originate a plan of destruction, or catch us in a moment of weakness. Many times it 'seems' that way but weakness is not what it seems like.
  • 1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
NIV w/emphasis added

I praise the Lord, that everything, including the Devil, is in His hands!

Are you adding that the Mind has something to do with the spiritual realm?

I found your posts most helpful Eve777 and Restin - thank you :)

Daniel says he talked to a being from the spiritual realm (Daniel 10).

From this incident, it is evident that the spirit world is real and all around us. This being - this angel (perhaps Gabriel) had to fight his way through to see Daniel: It took him 21 days to fight the spirit being, the King of Persia. But Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help Gabriel (Daniel 10:13).

Yes this is true. I just love this topic. I hope to study the spiritual realm once I get through with my regular college classes.

The Spirit of ---

Brutus
It was over 30 years of adult life before I came to understand the scope of the spirit of evil and the spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.
  • Old Testament

Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the innermost parts of his being.

Isaiah 19:14 a spirit of distortion
Isaiah 29:10 a spirit of deep sleep
Isaiah 61:3 a spirit of fainting
Jeremiah 51:1 spirit of a destroyer
    Hosea 4:12 & 5:4 spirit of harlotry

Isaiah 4:4 When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and purged the bloodshed of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and the spirit of burning,

Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

Haggai 1:14 So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

Zechariah 12:10 "I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication,

    New Testament

Luke 4:33 the spirit of an unclean demon,
    Acts 16:16 spirit of divination
Romans 11:8 "GOD GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR,..."
1 Timothy 5:21 spirit of partiality
Hebrews 10:29 has insulted the Spirit of grace?
1 John 4:6 the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
    Revelation 19:10 spirit of prophecy.

Romans 8:9 9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, " Abba! Father!"

1 Corinthians 2:11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,

1 John 4:1-3 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
    2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;
3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

    NASU, w/emphasis supplied
A spirit is attached to every action of the human mind.

Yes, I agree with this. That is why I intend to study as much as I can about this topic. I will also pray that the Lord reveals to me what He wants for me to know about this realm. 8-)

Nope I am not saying that.

The mind is another battle ground.

We can be spiritually minded, or carnally minded.

I agree, I always tell other Christians seeking advise that "battles are fought, and won, in the mind".

This is where (in the mind) all things get put in there proper place or tantalized to temptation and eventual failure.

As far as the spirit realm goes, it's obvious from the Word that it exists. I have had an ugly experience at an aunts house, and some minor weird questionable situations where I felt things were funny and the hair would stand up type thing. I even had a gal talking to me in the 3rd person in her car after I took her to church one time, she kept saying " you think your going to change her John" and then little laughs. I later found out she was a prostitute working up in hollywood with a real messed up life (not to mention a possible demon possesion) I jumped out of her car man! It was the last light on that street (on PCH) for miles, she stopped at the light and I jumped!!
I ran across the street and started walking.

I know that in the situation at my aunts house (which is really long, and I don't want people to think me a looney) I prayed and it left!! Thank you Jesus!

I rely on protection, His protection- I want nothing to do with the demons on this planet!

Swan

Well, Swan, I think that all Christians will at one point in their life encounter a demon, or something of the spiritual nature.

P.S. I told you I'm everywhere. 8-)

As long as you don't start talking in the 3rd person, hehe :smt087

Swan :-D

Swan, would it be okay if we spoke in the second person. We don't like the third person, but the second person we enjoy. :-D

Hey Brutus You have a good night! I'm off to bed, It has been nice getting to know you!

Blessings Brother!

I'm going to ask a dumb question... :) Could somebody describe First Person, Second Person and Third person for me?? I kinda think I may know what 1st and 2nd person is, but no idea what 3rd is. I ask for 1st and 2nd just in case I'm wrong... :)
Thanks!
