Let me add, I also tend to be this way around other believers who, in my opinion, insist on themselves as being right and refusing to even acknowledge why I might believe what I do (theologically speaking on church doctrine, calvanism vs armenianism, etc.)

First, stop taking things personally. Didn't Jesus say they we are persecuted because of Him? Let Him handle the arrows and daggers. Put on the full armor of God, in both circumstances. Remember what that passage says about what you put on your back? Nothing, because He has it. When you stop taking things so personally you will not be so easily offended. Sure, you can defend your faith, but do not do so in a way that will be counterproductive to God's message.

Second, employ the fruits of the Spirit in all of your interactions. Sounds more simple than it is, but that is truly what you need to do.

Lastly, keep praying for guidance. God won't put you in a situation He has not prepared you for, or back you up in.

I agree with all of this.
It is easier said than done. I'm naturally combative. Have been since age 5 and am almost 33 now.

You've already made the first step by wanting to change it. Not one of us is perfect, we are all a work in progress. Keep on battling because God has made a way out for you. Prayers are with you as requested. God Bless

Each day, in pretty much everything, someone has to get political. I’m just like: “STOP!!! STOP!!! Enough!!!”

I just recently endured an online assault from far right white nationalists. I find them equally repulsive and pathetic as far left progressives. Either side obtaining power is equally frightening.
