A lot of good responses here. An important thing is there were few people who could actually touch it without dying.

I sure hope the Ark of the Covenant is never found. There are people that actively hunt for it, but it sounds like a suicide mission to me.

The Ark of the Covenant was without a doubt what many would call a holy/divine artifact. It was only allowed to be touched by those that God had appointed. Not just anyone could look at it or touch it.

1 Samuel 6:19 - And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten [many] of the people with a great slaughter.

Leviticus 16:2 - And the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat that is on the ark, so that he may not die. For I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.

2 Samuel 6:6, 7 - And when they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God.

1 Samuel 5 and 6 I believe mentions when the Philistines captured the ark.

Yes
The word of the Lord concerning the Ark

In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land," declares the LORD, "people will no longer say, 'The ark of the covenant of the LORD.' It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made.

If the Ark on earth was a copy of the one seen in heaven like the temple then it most likely has been destroyed. If not it was seen in heaven by John.

Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.

Where is that first scripture you quoted found?

Yes,
There's a reason Jesus didn't enter the Holy of Holies in the Temple...it wasn't the real thing and only a shadow of His own in Heaven.

When they would carry the Ark from place to place it had to have a covering over it so that no one could look at it.

Huh?
Could you show me the scriptures on that?

I do remember that it had to be carried on the shoulders of the Levites.
And that it had to lead them in battle.

There were other things that had to be wrapped so that people couldn't see them. But the Ark wasn't one of them.

Look at how the angels stood where the body of Jesus had been

John 20:12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, on at the head and the other at the foot.

Kinda how it was on the ark of the covenant.9744ec9e-cf1b-49a8-a399-a8deb6378c52-802x1020.JPG2bcce34ffa6af54f5e256c7a30b0a36b.jpg
