I'm not sure if anybody has ever heard of this before, but apparently the mystery has finally been solved.

Cthulhu is a fictional character that showed up in a story, The Call of Cthulhu, supposedly in the early 1900s. Cthulhu is usually shown as a mix between an octopus, dragon, and human. I guess I think Davey Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 as a more modern idea of Cthulhu. Supposedly there is a whole cult that worships Cthulhu. The only reason I know of it is because someone made a Dungeons & Dragons campaign with Cthulhu and there are many online memes and jokes about it.
