There is not one!

A Hole Called Loneliness

I fell into a hole
Where no light comes in
So far from everything
That’s good
In need of a friend
The storm outside is raging
I fear it will come in
And fill this hole
Where no light shines
Where nothing comes in
The terror of the unknown
Is knocking at the door
To take me back
Into the darkness
Where I was before
Why must I exist?
In this world
That brings me pain
Why must I live
Only to die again
Why must I seek
The light only to find
The darkness within
Why must I strive
To live
Only to Die
Again

In a boy's hopelessness, he tries to help another. Through that, his hopelessness dissipates for a while. In a teen's adolescence his confusion and anxiety become a monster, that he alone faces, trusts no one to tell. But when he sees his friends going through simular pains, he offers help. Comforting them, telling them it is not uncommon. Everyone has to face these things. Doing this for the friend is also being helpful to the boy in teens. As a young man, the boy finds failure. Falls and does not know how to stand in the world again. He is helped by the love of those around him. Now the man with hope and love, has things to keep him strong, and the depression at bay. At least for now, it does not seem to hold him so strong. He knows it's effect on his life, and mourns for those who have the hold of depression on them as well. It has been apart of this man, giving him comfort, wisdom and sympthy. In one of his greatest weakness, it may have built him to be a better man. In his darkest times, it may have brought those around him closer, gave them a cause in their love for him. Even strangers can be drawn this way.

And now because this man is me, still trying, and hoping, and striving. This man wants to add to you for what depression might be doing to you. It might deepen your heart. It might strengthen the hearts of those who care for you. If you live out, through it, and find what gives you hope and strength to subdue it.... Then you might come to a conclusion like mine. Live through it, it might make you a better man.

In Catholicism, we call it "the dark night of the soul." It is, for many, a way post on the way to salvation. Pain has a purpose. It can kill, but it can also lead you to the One Who can heal all things.

My son has been afflicted by depression since his teens. He has fought through it all to become a successful person, and a fine human being.
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
