Looks like cicadas will be making a comeback this year according to this article. (That might be what I've been occasionally hearing at night as well.)

This is the year for them to come out, but they only last around 6 weeks. They can be harmful to trees as the female cuts brances to lay their eggs in, but they do not feed off the trees. I get peep frogs and crickets at night and I love hearing them.

The sound and frequency of the universe and nature is in harmony. listening to the universe on its natural frequency is peace and harmony, like the sound of day or night without any added frequncy interference, you hear the sound of day or night with birds, cicadas and crickets whatever , with no other interference you on the right frequency as it's universal harmony and peaceful . Its being in peace and harmony and one with the universe.

Oh it's just like a plague of locusts when they come around...

Earthquakes in Nevada and TN...
Tornados and straight line winds here too...
Covid-19
Blood waters
And now locusts...

I'm thinking that frogs and gnats are next.

That's all fine until your camping in a tent near the lake at Huntsville, Texas.......then it's just downright deafening.

I was going to say something but never mind. Completely disregard this quote lol because I misread it. :lol

You just reminded me of a story that goes back to my Girl Scout days. Me and some of the other girls were sharing a tent and we couldn't stand the dark so we kept the flashlight on even though we were warned by our leaders that it attracted mosquitoes. Needless to say that they were correct and we should have listened to them lol! Moral of the story,.. always listen to and respect your elders. :lol

Not if you live in the country like me as it's music to my ears at night. Our yard is like a bird sanctuary, although the Blue Jays can drive you crazy with their squawking noise.
You're reminding me of our backyard back at our house in Houston. It's backed up right against Addicks Dam. It made us feel we lived out in the country even though we were in the city. We would see deer at times and coyote howling at night would make our dogs uneasy. Raccoon, possum would sneak dog food whenever they could get away with it. We enjoyed the woodpecker visiting each summer. Our chickens learned to watch out for the occasional hawk and run for it if he came swooping in for a try at a chicken dinner. A duck once landed in our backyard and her ducklings were running around all over the place. For some reason our dogs left them alone. Ann had to escort them out through a gap in the fence just big enough to let the ducklings fit through. Killed many a water moccasin. One bit Shirley(one of our chickens) right in the face. She had only a 10% chance of survival but she pulled through. Her eggs were never the same though.....
