What in particular do you disagree with in the following paragraph?

The disciples were at the temple with Jesus commenting on the buildings of the temple.

1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple.

Hear what Jesus' response was about their great admiration for the temple.

2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

This exchange
about the temple and buildings took place in the temple grounds.

Now in verse 3 the setting shifts to a private conversation between Jesus and His disciples up on Mount Olivet.

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

From this point forward Jesus begins His famous "Olivet Discourse" starting in verse 4.

In this case the maps simply shows the distance between the the location of the Temple and the Mt of Olives.

This exchange about the temple and buildings took place in the temple grounds.

Is this a scriptural fact or an educated guess from your view point? Or in your words where do you find that is scripture?

By these verse's, I believe this exchange took place on the grounds of the temple, adjacent to or near the temple buildings. Probably somewhere in the outer court. His language in verse 2, not one stone shall be left here... lends itself to the idea His was standing in the temple ground when He made this statement.

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

By this verse I believe this question and Jesus' subsequent answer takes place on the Mount of Olives.

Thank you JLB for being diretect :thumbsup

My thoughts ... these guys were talking as the walked away from the Temple, heading up the hill.. Quick look back a wave of the arm directing the guys vision to the temple ... Is not out of reach any more then what you say.... We dont know we try to make good guesses but we do not know. Another guess...If it was important for us to know He would have said it... We also dont know if/not they spoke other words that were just not recorded..
They could have discussed the latest chariot race :)

I'm glad you agree, this is point as well as the context of this thread!

Jesus, as He sat on the mount of Olives, away from the crowds, away from the pharisee's, He explained to His disciples privately, about His coming and the end of the age, and as Matthew records He doesn't mention the destruction of the city and sanctuary!

The context is clear!

Clear to you in that form because you want it to be. That is your choice...
So He is setting on the mountain , The mountain over looks the city and temple...or at least part of it ( i ain't never been there} ..You choose to read that part of Matt in segments i dont... I will suggest to you to remember the scriptures were not written in chapter and verse....that came later and i am glad it did

Okay, let me get this straight.

Jesus, in His discourse, which starts in Mathew 24:4 - 25:46, mentions the signs that lead up to His coming and the end of the age until He says Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He goes on to say things about His return and mentions the reward for those who are faithful, He talks about separating the sheep from the goats and on and on and on, about His return.
He never mentions the destruction of the city or the sanctuary....

But really it's all about the events of 70 AD, which is the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.

Well that Preterism in a nutshell.

I thought you made the declaration that Preterism is Heresy!

Now you are defending it? Whats up with that?

Different levels/ ideals

Some folks believe one MUST be baptized some folks believe one should be baptized.... Scripture points can be made for both..different levels or ideals
Pretersim has differences also I did not have a clue what preterism was tell some one YELLED at me and called me that like it was a 'bad' word... so i looked into the labels orthodox preterism or as some say partial preterism is the dumb label that fits me best.
I believe the Lord will return... I believe there will be the resurrection Jesus speaks of in John.... on the last day just as He says...
Now to 70 ad.... Here is a list? of some things

IN OT times when God had had enough of the Israelites He warned them the hammer was coming down more then once.

I believe in the same vain He warned the Christians, His body , 2000 years ago destruction was coming again.
The scripture case can be made for this...You may not agree with how i see the scripture i dont agree with you but its OK i do see why you think what you do...
We have Mat 23 ... There is also some timing.. Jesus said this generation Taking that into account the end of that generation was 70 ad. I am not asking you to agree.. I find it interesting that the good ol number 40 shows up About 40 years after His Cross the City and temple are destroyed. Over ran by gentiles. these events can fit into scripture...

We hear of 3 1/2 years i ask you how long was Jesus' earthly ministry?

My computer is going goofy i will post this if your interested we can continue... i need to post before it hops into cyber space..
