Let me ask you a question. Did God design different denominations/non-denominations or were they founded by man as each one disagrees with another one in the doctrines they all teach.

Surely you must know that it was the Lord who set the flaming sword turning every which to keep the way of the tree of life?

The doctrines of Christ. The scripture tells us that we are to leave the principles of the doctrines of Christ, and move on to perfection.

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.

If we are to leave the principles of the doctrines of Christ to go on unto perfection, then what is it about the principles of the doctrines of Christ that prevent us from moving on to perfection?

I would say if you read Hebrews 6:1-8 that the meaning of the principals of the doctrine of Christ are those that are, or should be already written upon our heart that we would never forget, but to allow the doctrines of Christ lead us further into perfection as we continue down the straight and narrow path.

Surely you must know that it was the Lord who set the flaming sword turning every which to keep the way of the tree of life?

Yes, I know that, but what does that have to do with all the different denominations/non-denominations that follow their own doctrines that lead many away from the true doctrines of Christ.

Just wanted to interject...
My sister-in-law attends a Methodist Church...so today we went with. The people are nice. They think the world of my sister.

But the pastor today (just cycled in this summer/spring) had to take a couple of shots at Calvinists today. (Which I assumed was aimed at me because I said that I was a "Back pew Baptist and not a front pew Methodist."
But I'm still not a Calvinist.
Some of these things in the service were kinda new to me. I expected the liturgical section and the responsive readings. The offerings groove at the kneeling bench you are supposed to pray at after receiving the communion was new to me. Also using leavened bread and only dipping my piece of bread in the grape juice. (It wasn't real wine unfortunately...I was hopeful)

And aside from this...it was OK. I did appreciate my home church a little more after today.
I don't live here. It's not my church. But I know that I was as lost as last year's Easter egg. So maybe I can get word to them that visitors are lost in their service. I enjoyed myself and don't think them heathen by any means...but hey, they got to remember not all of us know everything.

Yes, I know that, but what does that have to do with all the different denominations/non-denominations that follow their own doctrines that lead many away from the true doctrines of Christ.

Because the different denominations are the sword keeping the way to the tree of Life; turning every which way.

Every denomination has a part in leading someone to the Cross and to the death of Christ, but are then unable to lead you further, so they adopt the doctrines of men to keep you before the Cross, and to keep the way to the tree of Life.

The scripture or the Spirit of Truth would never teach us to leave the principles of the doctrine of Christ.

We are to abide, that is to say, remain in the doctrine of Christ continually, or else we don’t have God.

  • and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God.

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9

What Hebrews 6:1-3 says is, we are to leave the discussion of elementary principles of Christ, such as repentance, baptisms, laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, so we can discuss and move into the “weightier” or “meat” of the teachings of Christ.

IOW, if we are to go on to “perfection”, which means maturity, we must move from “milk” to “meat”.

Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits. Hebrews 6:1-3

Here’s is the context:

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:12-6:3

If any denomination doesn’t teach the doctrine of Christ, then whose doctrine are they teaching?

Denominations are not the sword keeping the way to the tree of life. Denominations do not lead anyone to the cross and to the death of Christ, but should be teaching the doctrines of Christ as it is God alone that draws us to Him, John 6:28-59.

In Genesis 2:16, 17 God told Adam they could eat of every tree in the garden, but was forbidden to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Now because of their transgression against God He drove them out of the garden of Eden and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life, Genesis 3:22-24.

Then why do they teach the Cross of Christ, if not to lead them there?

Revelation 2:29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Those who have ears to hear what the Spirit of God has taught them first are those who the Holy Spirit works through to help teach us the doctrines of Christ. The Holy Spirit sets those in the body of Christ to teach us as we need to have ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is teaching. Those who have been called to teach, as many teach, but are not called, teach the purpose of the cross and the sacrifice Jesus made for all. We teach the doctrines of Christ, but it is God alone that draws us to Him.

Yeah, that's all fine and dandy, but you said the denominations didn't lead anyone to the Cross and death of Christ.

Denominations nor can any of us lead anyone to Christ unless God draws them to Him. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. All man can do is teach the doctrines of Christ so others can learn of the Father and they themselves come to Jesus, John 6:44, 45. It's the doctrine/teachings of Christ that we remain in His doctrine and teach others about the cross and the death of Christ as He taught us how we come to Him.

In the natural, we need healthy food, such as meat, vegetables, and fish, as well as clean water to drink, if we expect to grow and develop a healthy functioning body.

However, we can develop a taste for certain things that we “like” to eat and drink, that “taste good”, but aren’t good for us.

I have found the more I draw near to Him, and spend time with Him, and study His word, the more I want to be like Him and embrace more of His truth.

Over the years, I have turned away from many things that are not conducive to spiritual growth and transformation, that I may follow Him in truth, loving Him and loving and serving His people.

...He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

I have found through experience, that restoration and renewal are found in the ways or paths of righteousness.

His word, His doctrine, His truth are the ways of righteousness, peace and joy.

When we distort His ways of truth and love and righteousness, by distorting His teachings, we are not walking in truth and love.

Love is so much more than “acting nice” in public for a pretense.

I have known many who “act nice” and loving in Church, but won’t lift a finger to help anyone, and are deceitful in many ways.

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces. Matthew 7:1-6

If we continue in His teachings, His message, His word, then we are His disciples in deed.

Personally, because I know how much He loves us, I don’t dare teach anyone anything expect straight forward scripture.

That’s what “rightly dividing” the word of truth means.

Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 2 Timothy 2:14-16

Rightly Divide - Strongs 3718 - orthotomeō

  1. to cut straight, to cut straight ways
    1. to proceed on straight paths, hold a straight course, equiv. to doing right
  2. to make straight and smooth, to handle aright, to teach the truth directly and correctly

What are some of the things that prevent us from rightly dividing the Word of God?
I see a church that is mature in age, yet will take your scalp off if you don't stick to tradition.
Amen, In fact, it is exactly in my opinion, what Jesus said about traditions in Mark 7

THE DOCTRINE:

If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. John 7:17

Whenever we see the phrase “the doctrine” in scripture, we know it is a reference to the doctrine of Christ. This is also shown as the doctrine of Christ, as well as the Apostles doctrine, which Christ taught them to teach every nation.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28:19-20

And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. Acts 2:40-45

  • And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship

Notice that true godly fellowship is a natural by product of continuing steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine. This is where true unity in any church community is found.

Common unity in the truth: Community

till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, Ephesians 4:13-14

  • The unity of the faith is found in abiding in the doctrine of Christ.

Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
1 Timothy 4:16

  • Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Well said, and so true.

My desire is to see this Forum, be a shining light of truth that is established on the solid rock of Christ and His doctrine;

His Teachings.

Loving God and loving people is to practice and teach the truth.

His Gospel
His Doctrine
His Commandments.

For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:17

JLB,
You and I share the same desire for this forum and I would only add that our unity is on display literally for the world to see. I was just going over the site statistics and we had just under 7,000 visits last month. I did not look to see how many of those visits were unique vs repeated visits.

Currently, I am very pleased with how our community has grown in fellowship over the course of the past year and it brings me great joy because I know it's bringing glory to God.

I have not read one paragraph in this thread from you that I disagree with unlike other threads where you and I have had differing views on particular passages I would deem non-essential and disputable matters to ones holistic salvation.

In my opinion, you have done an excellent job outlining your theology on the doctrines of Christ. What I would ask of you next would be to list out what you believe the essential doctrines of Chris are as well as providing examples on how we, the members of this forum as members of Christs Body would live these doctrines out.

Blessings.
