When we are talking about the flood, it is often held as the mere legend. Especially such people, who believe to theory of evolution, they don't believe than the flood has ever taken place.

But it is very good to ask, is the flood after all true. If we do the practical observations from the ground and fossils and also from the traditional knowledge of the people, refer them to the quite strongly, that the fact is the flood. They indicate that large group devastation have taken place really close in immediate past. In the following we will examine these evidences, which refer to the flood.

I find the flood to be an interesting legend. You find it in many cultures where local flooding is possible, but don't find it where it isn't. (Like Egypt.)

However, it has many flaws in its different versions. I will just focus on the OT one. Basically, God sees people corrupt and decides to kill them all. So it starts out with a contradiction to Christianity. When God later saw people corrupt, he sent Jesus. Also, the Bible says that people were just as bad after the flood as before.

So God has many choices. He could release a plague (spares animals at least), make people infertile, take Noah to a different planet (billions available) or just snap His fingers and have everyone fall dead. Instead He choses to drown everyone. Could you imagine as a parent, holding your children under the water? Watching them struggle to breathe and snuff the light out? Very cruel act for a god to do.

So anyways, God has to get water to cover the Earth. So the water must be coming in feet per minute. This should blast apart much of the land. Salt water and fresh water fish have to survive in the same water. (Try to do this in an aquarium and see how long the fish live.) The water has to magically appear since there is not enough of it on Earth. All the species have to fit on a boat. (Boat would be full 3 times over just carrying beetles.) After the flood is over, kangeroos have to get to Australia over the ocean. Plus all the bones on the bottom of the ocean have to settle (not heaviest to lightest) but in a different way across the whole world that is really only explained by evolution.

So mankind now gets a second chance with a naked drunkard. Once again God forces humanity to deal with incest to survive.

So I see many plot holes, lack of credible evidence, and a story that makes God to be the most evil being in existance.

The flood is true! How else do we explain what we see in the fossil record? How are there over 200 worldwide flood legends all over the world? How do explain the grand canyon, polystrate fossils, etc without a flood?

Plus, the Bible which is of divine origin teaches a worldwide flood. thats good enough for me

The Grand Canyon could not have been formed by a flood. In various strata of the Canyon, there are forests and deserts, one above the other.

Can you explain how they had time to form and be buried in a few days time during the Flood Year?

And some formations could not possibly have formed in soft sediment:

No way for entrenched meanders like this one to form in a year, or even ten thousand years.

Plus if that were rrue, the whole world should be pocketed with grand canyons.

As for flood myths, one idea is that cultures traded stories. Also, flooding, plagues, earthquakes, fires are in all myths. It is just a common natural disaster. There is also some evidence for a local flood with a glacier melting I believe.

I personally suspect that the Flood is "based on a true story." I don't doubt it happened, but I doubt it was worldwide, and I doubt it went down precisely the way the Bible says. Because, let's face it, you can't put two of every animal in a boat.

Incidentally, I've never understood how people could both believe in the story of Noah's Ark, and also disbelieve evolution. There are too many species of animals on the planet to fit into a boat. Ergo, if evolution is not true, these animals could not have arisen since, so how did they all fit in the boat? But if the Ark really did exist, the innumerable species must have evolved later. So how do people both believe in one-week creationism, and in a literal interpretation of the flood story?

Homeboy's not coming back, apparently. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

There are so many things that shoot the story full of holes, some of the obvious ones have already been mentioned but theres also survival of the animals after the flood (no plant life left, only living animals for the predators are on the boat, still no fresh drinking water etc), the amount of resources required on the Ark (millions of litres of water, tons of plants, grasses and meat, no refrigeration to stop spoilage, specialty foods for certain animals etc), the amount of work for a crew of 8 to do (works out to only a few seconds per animal per day if they work 12 hour days without breaks, pen cleaning, feeding and care takes alot of time), then 8 people have to repopulate the planet and hope that inbreeding doesn't result in the deformaties and infertility that we know it does.
We need an Ark with internal temperature controls so they can seperate the artic animals from the desert dwellers with the temperate ones in the middle.
Also from a justification side of things to kill everyone (including children who should be too young to be judged so harshly) you have to say these people are all beyond hope, salvation is impossible so they must all die. Yet people were sinners before and sinners afterwards, so nothing was actually achieved.
The only thing that makes the claim is the Bible, but the story is not a first hand account written by Noah, it was written several thousand years later by an unknown author (possibly Moses but impossible to know for sure). The event wasn't documented, it was simply told as a story for generations to come, and like any good story increased in size with each telling.

If Noahs flood was a local event it fixes the majority of the problems. The only animals he would need were the local domestic ones, the boat could have been much smaller, food and water is no longer such a problem, other humans would have survived so inbreeding is not an issue, it explains why other cultures didn't notice, an amount of water which cannot be found on earth is not required and it no longer requires supernatural events/miracles by the dozen to make it work.
