In this paper the origin and genesis of COVID-19 are postulated, and the epidemiological/ecological aspects of the disease and biblical perspective are shared.

This excerpt from the paper is what has the whole world hopping mad...

Most interestingly, the sequence of the RaTG13 strain of bat virus, which is 96% similar to SARS-CoV-2, was isolated and published together with SARS-CoV-2. There is a possibility that the Wuhan Virology Lab had collected a natural sample from a market or bat source in Yunnan to study, and somehow the virus escaped the lab. This type of accidental escape has happened before with SARS-CoV (Andersen et. al. 2020).

That research was done at the request and contract from an American University in Texas.
But poor controls are common in China and the live virus research is much cheaper there. Which is likely why they got that portion of the research.

Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread.

Background
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is caused by a newly discovered coronavirus (SARS-CoV). No effective prophylactic or post-exposure therapy is currently available.

Results
We report, however, that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells. These inhibitory effects are observed when the cells are treated with the drug either before or after exposure to the virus, suggesting both prophylactic and therapeutic advantage. In addition to the well-known functions of chloroquine such as elevations of endosomal pH, the drug appears to interfere with terminal glycosylation of the cellular receptor, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2. This may negatively influence the virus-receptor binding and abrogate the infection, with further ramifications by the elevation of vesicular pH, resulting in the inhibition of infection and spread of SARS CoV at clinically admissible concentrations.

Conclusion
Chloroquine is effective in preventing the spread of SARS CoV in cell culture. Favorable inhibition of virus spread was observed when the cells were either treated with chloroquine prior to or after SARS CoV infection. In addition, the indirect immunofluorescence assay described herein represents a simple and rapid method for screening SARS-CoV antiviral compounds.

Yeah...read the article in the link...
The actual science used to create the result was bad science. They explain this.
This was a 2005 study.
Chloroquine is not the cure we need. The recent double blind studies show that this isn't the right drug. The drugs use has been politicized so much...but it really doesn't do what we need done for this RNA virus.

Some people are responding to steroids and antibiotics therapies... some are responding to antibody therapies...and some respond to nothing.

They have discovered a genetic snip similarity for those who get serious cases...but it's still preliminary reporting yet...the supporting science is not in yet.

This is only June....it's only been worked on for a few months yet.
